First short story of 2022 - Boardwalk Oracle

The Willesden Herald published this slightly magical tale in January. Boardwalk Oracle begins like this:


The faded pictures on the vending machine showed a variety of cupcakes with and without a cherry on top, with and without chocolate chips. It didn’t mean anything. This is my second contribution to the publication. A few years ago, they published Lily. It starts:

That particular summer at the seaside sticks in my memory because it was the summer I met Lily. I thought we would be friends for life. Of course, we weren’t.

Both stories are memories of times past. Lily starts sweet and turns dark, or if you prefer, a little strange...
