Halloween Hop Story and Giveaway
I’m participating in the Snarkology Halloween Blog Hop with tons of other cool authors and bloggers this year. Why am I participating? Because it’s fun for me and there are possible prizes for you. Be sure to read all the way to the end of this post so that you can find out how to enter for a chance to win one of the hop-wide prizes. I’ll also provide some information on the other participating authors so that you can trick or treat around the web for a chance to win the cool prizes...

The Problem with Time…and Updates
When you’re an author, you get used to looking at time a little differently than everyone else. When I’m writing a conversation between characters, only a few minutes may pass in the scene while a half hour passes in real time. And since I’ve been writing a ton of words lately, I seem to spend an increasing amount of time in character time instead of real time.
Huh?
Basically, I’m telling you that the more I write, the less I notice the passage of time in the real world. I’ve got all sorts of s...

Of Wishes and Rainbows Release
Last week, I quietly released a short story out into the world. Normally, it’s all fanfare and drum rolls with me, but not this time. This ebook release was special to me.
So why wouldn’t I largely keep it to myself? Perfect sense, right?
When I was a little girl visiting my dad and stepmother in California for the summers, we’d take these road trips from the San Diego area up to Bakersfield to visit my aunt. At the time, I was told that it should take us about four hours each way. The reality...

How Much Sex Is Too Much?

This might be too much
If you thought I was going to help you figure out whether you’re a sex addict in this blog post, you’ll be sad to learn that I’m not qualified to do that. Google is probably going to be your friend. Although, I am more than qualified to sing “Everything is Awesome” at you while manically dancing like a lego person, which may not actually be very useful to your needs…though it does give me an excuse to sing the damned song that’s been stuck in my head since seeing the mov...

Sizzling Summer Sexy Suspense Sale
Okay, y’all, I know that summer doesn’t technically start until late June, but Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer where I’m from. Also, a Sizzling Spring Sale doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. Either way, I’ve got all kinds of yummy fiction deals for you today.
In fact, this is the single largest sale that Random Distraction Publishing has ever run, but I’ll get to that after the sale announcement.
Today, May 27 through Saturday May 31, FORESIGHT IS FLAWLESS is totally free. Y...

Creating the Undercover Series
As the first books I thought to release out into the world, I’m slightly attached to the Undercover Series. In one way or another, I’ve been working within its created world for the last 12 years. Not only do I know what’s happened to everyone on the page, but I know their backstories and what’s still in store for them. I also know all the rules for the universe in which all these characters live as though I lived there myself, making it a breeze for me to come back to the characters after a...

Love Lies Bleeding Book Release
Please queue all the appropriate fanfare because the fourth installment of the Undercover Series is finally here. Actually, let’s queue all the inappropriate fanfare as well. That sounds like a lot of fun. I envision trumpets and confetti and maybe streamers when I talk about fanfare. I wonder if that’s even close to what others envision?
Anyway. LOVE LIES BLEEDING is now available on amazon in paperback and Kindle versions. As the author, I’m expected to like all my books – or at least not th...

Where’s Love Lies Bleeding?
It’s a fair question, y’all. I think I’ll answer.
Sadly,Love Lies Bleedingis still sitting on my hard drive, in need of another 130 manuscript pages or so of final revisions. It’s been a slow go for a number of reasons, here’s a few of them:
I’m not quite sure what we’ve had in my house, but it might be the resurgence of the plague. We both got sick right around Christmas and I think I’m still feeling the leftover lethargy from it. I had all sorts of free time that I’d earmarked for revisions a...

R is for Regarding Reviews
There’s sort of a controversy going on in the writing world. It’s about authors responding to reviews. Personally, I think the whole thing is a little silly.
It’s definitely grown out of hand.
For those of you who don’t keep up on the world of all things indie publishing, 2012 was apparently a big year for self-published authors responding to their negative reviews on Amazon to fight with reviewers about their opinions. I think some also attacked negative reviews that people posted on their blo...
