I'm extremely pleased to reveal the official cover art for my upcoming novel Endless, which can be seen below. Huge thanks to Al Greenall and Cat Sulzmann for creating such a beautiful image.

Endless sample now available
EDIT : Since the release of the book, a much better sample is available online at Amazon here (just click on the cover).
So, after four months of rewrites and an inordinate amount of caffeine, Endless is winging its way back to the editor for its final check up. Provided it returns with a full bill of health, a digital release by Christmas is still on track; expect much more news in the forthcoming weeks. For now I'm pleased to announce that a free sample of the first two chapters (plus prologue) of the novel is available here (left click to view it in your web browser, or right click and "save as" to save the file to your computer). As always, any comments are welcome.
As a quick reminder, Endless is the first book in a brand new fantasy series, based primarily on the world of Crescent – although one of the central protagonists is from Earth. Books two and three are currently in the planning stages.

Ashes in Friction Magazine
The lovely people at Friction Magazine have published one of my (older) short stories, Ashes, in their latest issue. It can be viewed online here. (The brilliantly titled Gilles Deleuze Becomes a Tic is also worth a peek.) Keep an eye out for another of my short stories, The Augur, coming up in this month's issue of Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine.
In novel news: the final edit of Endless is proceeding at pace – hence the lack of posts here of recent – and I'm currently tying up the last few chapters before it goes back to the editor. I'm still hopeful of a digital release before the end of the year. A sneak peek of the cover art plus a sample of the opening chapters are coming soon!

The Interpreter's House & Flash
The latest issue of literary magazine The Interpreter's House is currently sitting on my desk, and looking very fine it is too. Seventy-five pages of poetry with a few short stories sprinkled between – one of which is my own, The Plot. Subscriptions are available here.
In other news, my short story The Augur will be appearing in the next issue of Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, due out in October. The literary publication has previously included the likes of Margaret Atwood, Beryl Bainbridge, Ian Rankin, and Dave Eggers – so I'm pleased, to say the least.

The (continued) rise of epublishing
Yudu Media have released an interesting report on the state of epublishing, which can be seen here. Yudu are themselves digital publishers, so expect some partiality, but the facts and figures tell their own story. The exponential growth of ebooks continues.
In related news, Guardian News & Media – publisher of the Guardian newspaper here in the UK – recently announced that from now on they will be "digital-first in philosophy and practice". The decision is down to perceived trends in media consumption – and seems a clear-sighted move, from where I'm sitting.
On the personal front, editing of my novel Endless is proceeding well, aided by an indecent amount of caffeine and malted milk biscuits. With 160,000 words to wrangle, the process will take a while yet – but the book's already in much better shape. More news soon.
