Paperback of Endless out in September
If you can peel your eyes away from the Olympics for a moment, to the left you’ll find the promised photos of the upcoming paperback edition of Endless. I hope you’ll agree that it looks rather lovely.
And as you’ve no doubt gleaned from the title of this post, I’d like to announce the paperback will be officially released on September 1st, available at first from Amazon with other retailers to follow. Watch this space for details of some giveaways before the big release day.
In other good Endless news, the book is currently a featured review over at the much esteemed and long-running SFSite. You can give it a read here (mild spoilers within): http://www.sfsite.com/07b/el372.htm.

Endless in Best Indie Books semi finals
Good news: Endless has made it through to the semi finals of The Kindle Book Review’s Best Indie Books of 2012 competition! They even sent out a stylish little badge, which you may have spotted by now. The finalists are chosen in September, so keep appropriate digits crossed.
In other news, a proof of the paperback edition of Endless should be in my eager mitts in the next couple of weeks. Watch this space for an official release date, as well as a few pre-release giveaways.

A Quick Update…
…to blow away the dust that seems especially attracted to this blog. Work on Rifts, the sequel to Endless, is continuing at full tilt – hence the relative quiet on here, as well as my truancy from the Outside World. Contrary to my best efforts, the book seems determined to end up longer and more complex than its predecessor. (Don’t worry; I’ll get my own back in the editing – or what I like to call the word murder – stage.) I’m probably breaking writer-character confidentiality to say it, but one of the new protagonists is fast becoming my favourite yet.
In other news, Endless should be available in paperback form this summer. If I may say so, the physical version of the artwork is shaping up to be even lovelier, especially with the extra cover space. Expect a lot more news on this front – including a release date, giveaways, and no doubt a photo of me clutching said paperback like a newborn – in the coming weeks and months. In further ‘watch this space’ news, I plan to release a short sci-fi story in digital form at some point in the near future. It’s not set in space, else I would’ve made a ‘watch this outer space’ pun here. Lucky escape.

Reviews, Rifts, and Russell Crowe
Reviews are starting to roll in for Endless, and as always it's fun to see how different aspects of the book appeal to different people. RA Brady of The British Fantasy Society found "some quite brilliant writing" (strange how I remember that quote) whilst feeling he had to battle through the start to get there; conversely, Jon Bloch of The Kindle Book Review preferred the beginning sections and wants more of Earth in subsequent books (he might just get his wish).
SciYourFi appeared to like the characters and their development the most, which perhaps chimes best with the reader reactions so far. Most seem to have especially taken to that loveable(?) rogue in the book, Manvedian (a friend recently informed me that he had developed a man-crush on him, which I'm still digesting), with the most amusing comment comparing him to Russell Crowe. I'm not sure either men would approve.
In other news, work is progressing well on the follow-up to Endless, Rifts. I'm a few chapters in, and so far it's darker, more violent and more challenging. I'm beginning to think someone spiked my coffee.

I'm extremely pleased to have my short story, The Augur, appear alongside the Pulitzer Prize-winning likes of Jennifer Egan and Robert Olen Butler in the latest edition of Flash: The International Short Story Magazine. You can find out more & subscribe to the literary mag here, and if you're on the lookout for a new novel, look no further than Egan's A Visit From The Goon Squad.

An Endless Christmas
Endless is back from the editor, and it looks like we're on for a Christmas release – contingent on a few late nights and some luck along the way. I'll post updates on here, but if all goes according to plan the ebook will be available on Amazon and Kindles by Christmas day, with Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBookstore, Kobo, Diesel and more stores to follow soon after.
