thejemjam:

Hey there, Internet! We’ve reached 500 followers on our tumblr, and that is, as you may guess, a gigantic number and way more than we ever thought we’d get! We’re so grateful to you all for listening to us and coming back for more Jem Jam episodes every week. Annie, Kit, and Maq have a ton of fun with the podcast, and we’re glad you do, too!

And to thank you for helping us hit 500 followers, we’re doing another Giveaway!

We’re giving away digital copies of IDW’s Jem and the Holograms comic. We have three tiers for our winners!

Third Place (Three Winners): Issue #1 of Jem and the Holograms

Second Place (Two Winners): Issues #1, 2, and 3 of Jem and the Holograms. That’s half of the first story arc!

Grand Prize (One Winner): The first 6 issues of Jem and the Holograms and a copy of Jem and the Holograms Annual #1! That’s the first story arc along with the double-size annual, which is four short stories!

How to win: Reblog or Like to enter the contest! Your entry only counts once, so you don’t have to spam the post to share. Bot accounts need not apply.

We’ll be drawing a winner on November 8. Good luck, and keep being outrageous, Internet!

(PS: this is why Annie is not allowed to do the graphic design on the podcast’s social media)

(PPS: sorry Kit)

As an adult doll lover

abbieandbeanna:

I refuse to feel bad or even weird for loving dolls. I wish I had a doll company or store because dolls make me happy. People look at me crazy or weird because I love dolls but why is that so weird?

People do all kinds of strange and unusual things as long as you are not a threat or danger to anyone then what’s the issue? Because I’m not doing what you think I should be doing I have a problem or an issue?

I can not be held hostage by others narrow opinions. I don’t give one damn about how people judge me. Dolls never judge, they never hurt you unless they are possessed then that’s a whole different conversation.

I said all this because for a long time I had nothing that was exclusively mines, nothing I was really into but dolls are my thing. They are my happy place, so if you are an adult doll lover don’t let someone else shame you into hiding your love of dolls. I could see if you were a crackhead or a mass murderer you love dolls there is no shame in that.

feminism-hellyeah:

Since I was a kid I really wanted an American Girl doll…for those who don’t know they are insanely expensive dolls for girls that are coupled with books about the dolls lives.

I always wanted Kit a girl from the 1930’s struggling to live through the depression. She wanted to be a writer and you could even get her a little type writer!

My parents didn’t get me one because they were (and still are) insanely expensive. INSTEAD my parents got me the book series about Kit which I read over and over.

This year, at the age of almost 21, my fiancee got me Kit for Christmas. As a I pulled the wrapping paper off the box and saw her face staring at me I started to cry.

It’s more than just getting the doll. He remember me mentioning I wanted the doll, he understood how much it meant to me, he invested the money in buying me one. I’m an adult, we’re planning a wedding, and he still got me a doll and is encouraging and tolerating me buying clothes and being a little eccentric about the doll.

I love him so fucking much.
