Eight years ago, former Army sergeant Nathan Schultz let the love of his life disappear without a fight. After watching everyone around him find happiness while his slipped further away, he’s finally ready to fight for Chelsea Callaghan–and he’s not afraid to play dirty.

Chelsea has always followed her conservative family’s rules–with one heartbreaking exception. When she receives an invitation to an old high school friend’s wedding, she knows who’s to blame. Though she goes solely to give Nathan a piece of her mind, he blackmails her into staying the entire week. With him.

There’s no way she’ll bow to Nathan’s will without making him pay. Unfortunately, revenge is a dish best served fully clothed, and they can’t be in the same room without losing theirs. As insatiable, anger-fueled lust shifts into something more, they begin to lose sight of why they can’t be together. But with so many unforgivable wrongs between them, can Nathan and Chelsea ever making things right?

CHASING MRS. RIGHT!

Chasing Mrs. Right is up for pre-order!!!

CMR 500px

Roxanne Stokes doesn’t believe in love. She does, however, believe in the sexy-as-sin stranger who literally knocks her off her feet in front of a nightclub. The chemistry sparking between them takes her breath away, and she’ll do anything to ease the pain in his eyes…until she realizes the handsome stranger is her best friend’s older brother who’s just come home from war.

Ian Walser had no idea the gorgeous woman he slept with the night of his homecoming party was his little sister’s best friend—or that she’d be gone before morning. Roxanne’s touch soothes him in a way nothing else can, and he’s not ready to walk away from that yet. Not when spending time with her gave Ian a glimpse of everything he’s ever wanted.

When his sister unwittingly pushes them together, he sees his chance. But convincing a woman who doesn’t believe in love that she’s his Mrs. Right might be harder than any mission Ian’s undertaken. Good thing this soldier likes a challenge…

2012: The year of wins, fails, and flails

First of all, the winner of the Entangled Blog Hop is LISA M. Email me your addy (authorkateerobert (at) gmail (dot) com) and I’ll get those movies out to you!

Now, onto the yearly roundup.

Honestly, I wasn’t going to do one this year. I made a big production last year about how 2012 was going to be SO MUCH BETTER than 2011, and that bitch kicked me in the teeth for six straight months. Yes, there were some BEYOND awesome things that happened in the latter half of the year, but the first half was pretty damn ugly.

Moving right along…

Here’s some fun statistics for those of you who care about such things (I’m a dork. I care.).

Total book that were published this year: 4

(And, holy shit, I kind of still can’t believe that it happened. I’m a published author, y’all!)

Total words written (ish): 270,000

Total finished books: 4

Total of rewrites from the ground up: 1.5 (working on the second one right now)

Unfinished books (most of which I plan on getting to later): 5

Words that went into unfinished books (ish): 40,000

Next Big Thing!

So this meme has been circulating, and now it’s my turn! ;) Thank you to Samanthe Beck for tagging me!

The book I’m using for this is QUEEN OF WANDS, the second full length book in my Sanctify series.

What is your working title of your book?

Fortunately, this series is one of those rare and beautiful things where I knew the titles of every single book before writing them (third book will be QUEEN OF PENTACLES). They’re all tarot cards that represent the heroine.

Where did the idea come from for the book?

In the process of writing QUEEN OF SWORDS, I fell head over heels in love with the hero’s little sister. She’s mouthy, irreverent, and completely deadly. As soon as she walked onto the page, I knew I had to give her a book.

What genre does your book fall under?

Oh man. It’s science fiction romance? Though don’t let that fool you. Space opera or Space western is closer to the truth (space romance?) Like Firefly? Then you might want to consider checking out the Sanctify series.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

My heroine, the lovely and kind of insane Jenny, is Jennifer Carpenter. Her leading man is Shemar Moore. He’s kind of a nerd in this story and it’s GLORIOUS.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Wild Child Jenny is on what she thinks is a babysitting mission, but will she be able to keep her head in the game with sparks flying between her and the gorgeous genius she’s supposed to protect?

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

QUEEN OF WANDS is currently under contract with Entangled Publishing.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Oh good lord. About four or five months, but I took a break for edits and to write THE HIGH PRIESTESS in the middle of it (don’t do that, folks. It complicates things unnecessarily).

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

The most consistent comparison I get is Firefly, though for reasons unknown, the Sanctify series also gets compared to Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series (I WILL TAKE THAT COMPLIMENT *beams*).

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

The series was birthed when I read Ann Aguirre’s GRIMSPACE. It exists in a future universe where they’ve proven that the human soul doesn’t exist (BTW, go pick up those books. AMAZING!). So I started wondering… What if exactly the opposite had happened? What if religions and superstitions ruled? It was a long road from there, but that was the first step.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

All of the books are named after tarot cards and tarot itself has a vital role to play.

Now onto the gift that keeps on giving (stop that! Get your minds out of the gutter):

First up is Michele de Winton.

And next is Seleste deLaney.

Have fun, ladies!

Entangled Under the Mistletoe; Blog Hop

Autumn might be my favorite season of the year, but winter has some serious benefits (stuffing your face at Thanksgiving? I AM IN). It’s the best time of year to light a fire, wrap up in a blanket, and get comfy on your couch.

Yes, yes, I do occasionally venture outside for snowboarding and sledding and any number of freezing cold activities, but my favorite part is being warm with a book or movie and watching the snow fall through the window.

It’s great inspiration for writing too ;)

Over the years, I’ve slowly created my own winter holiday traditions. Though I do the tree and presents and whatnot, my best holiday tradition is marathoning my favorite movies.

For this year, I have Love Actually, Dale and Tucker vs. Evil, and Phantom of the Opera. Eclectic, right?

What about you? What are some of your favorite winter holiday traditions?

One of the comments will be chosen to receive the trio of my favorite holiday movies. :)

A little of this, A little of that

Quite a few of you have joined the newsletter since I sent out the teaser for Come Undone #2. In order to avoid spamming the people who have already gotten said newsletter, I’m going to share it here. As always, this is unedited and subject to change.

Delicious warmth spread through Roxanne’s body, and she wasn’t sure if it was the whiskey or the way Ian was looking at her. Because, damn, she’d heard about those romance-novel type looks—what she liked to call the panty-droppers—but she hadn’t believed they existed. They were like a unicorn. Pure myth.

Except she apparently had a sexy unicorn sitting across from her right now.

I still don’t have a concrete date of release for this, as a lot of things have shifted so that we can get the entire series released in a more timely manner. I promise as soon as I have a date, I will be announcing it! :D

In the meantime, I’ve started plotting Nathan’s book. SO happy he’s finally getting his story told! It’s very strange, though. I don’t have a set method of writing for most of my books. Some of them have music, some don’t. But a few months ago I bought Kip Moore’s album and had this HOLY SHIT moment because the entire thing launched me straight into the headspace necessary to tell Nathan’s story.

So, just to tease you, I’m sharing the playlist I’ve created for Nathan’s book, Come Undone #3:

Fall Into Me – Brantley Gilbert

Drive Me Crazy – Kip Moore

Feels So Real – Eden’s Edge

Swingin’ Door – Eden’s Edge

Crazy One More Time – Kip Moore

Hell on an Angel – Brantley Gilbert

Fly Again – Kip Moore

Where Are You Tonight – Kip Moore

And, finally, Everything But You by Kip Moore. Enjoy, darlings!

Authorly Photos

So, I’ve officially had professional authorly photos all done up. The ever-magical Bethany Chamberlin did these and this woman is a GENIUS. I’m SO not photogenic, and she made me look like a rockstar. MUAH!

So, without further ado, here’s a whole lot of me. ;)
