New series

I am currently working on a sci-fi space opera series. Why? Isn't that way out of the norm for me? Well, here's what happened. When I got the idea for book 1, I though hey, writing sci-fi space opera sounds like fun. I'll write the book and get it out of my system so I can go back to something like werewolves or monsters.
It's funny how that never goes as planned. I finally decided to make it a trilogy. Does it listen to me? No! Now it has become a much broader story with many more adventures to be had, dangers left to experience, and, oh yeah, a whole lot of Damaclan knife-fighting, galaxy exploring, and life-threatening peril with a love story entwining it all.
What happened to a single sci-fi story and getting back to my normal adventures? I guess there's way too much fun left to be had!
So here I am, writing away. Enjoy!

Newsletter Feb 18, 2014!

Hello readers, friends, and family!

It’s been a busy two months! Between entertaining my four year old twin boys, helping my daughter with her science fair project, and playing rock concerts with our band Alien Landslide, additional books have been written! Snowy days that force us indoors are definitely the best for writing. Thank you for this cold Utah winter!

The Small Town Superhero Series has officially been released by Stonehouse Ink. It is a series about a boy who is battling his own inner demons plus bullies from his new school. He finds a way to retaliate as the Black Rider, fighting injustice on the back of a motorcycle.

The first two books of this series can be found on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBook, with the third book in the series following closely behind!

There are now two additions to the Galdoni Series! Book Two: Into the Fire and Book Three: Out of Darkness, are released!

Book Two follows Saro, a Galdoni caught by lies and the chaos of life outside the Academy. When Saro saves a female Galdoni, his world spirals out of control. Saro’s battle is finding what is worth fighting for, and putting his life on the line to protect those who took him in.

Book Three is about Reece, one of the first Galdoni to go to school. Hostility at every turn changes into confusion when Ava, a female Galdoni, enrolls at the same school. Reece finds himself drawn to her, but pushed away by the prejudice that surrounds him. When the school is attacked, he risks life and heartache to save Ava and the students who shunned him.

All of the books can be found on Amazon,
Barnes & Noble, iBook, and Smashwords!

All of my books are also currently in the process of being released in audio format! Most of the Silver Series, Galdoni, and Heart of the Wolf Part One are available with everything else quickly following. You can find them on Amazon.com and Audible.com.

I am currently writing Heart of the Wolf Part Two with the goal of finishing it by the end of February, and then releasing the finished novel by the second week of March. The next book on my agenda is book three of the Small Town Superhero Series, followed by the first book of the Werewolf Academy. Needless to say, I have an awesome few months of adventures, romance, epic fighting, and several wolves ahead of me!

Thank you for all of your support, your emails, and your reviews. I appreciate all the positivity and kindness surrounding my books. I love to hear from you. Your words always give an extra boost to a crazy, wonderful day!

With love,

Cheree Alsop

End of the Year

It’s been a while since I’ve written here. I’ve been working on Galdoni 2: Into the Storm, as well as When Death Loved an Angel, and Silver Moon, the last book in the Silver Series. All in all, it’s been a great end to an amazing year!

I love writing; it is my passion, and has taken my dreams much further than I ever could have imagined. I love getting letters from readers across the world and seeing my books on top charts in places like Paraguay, New Zealand, and Slovenia. I never knew my books would reach so far, and it makes me so happy to see the great progress my books have made over the year. There have now been over 120,000 downloads of my books worldwide. My childhood dream of giving others the same escape through books that I enjoyed has been realized. I am so grateful for my readers. Thank you, thank you, thank you for finding my books and sharing them with your loved ones. It means so much to me.

This next year is filled with so much potential. I plan to write the new branch-off series of the Silver Series which will be called the Werewolf Academy. The Small Town Superhero Series will be published by Stonehouse Ink, including the third book in the series which I will begin with the new year. I will release the anticipated Heart of the Wolf Part Two, as well as several more in the Galdoni Series. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a new series involving dragons that’s been toying at the back of my mind sneaks into the mix. All of my books will also be released in audio format with a team of wonderful narrators from Audible.com.

All in all, it looks like a very busy year, which in my opinion is the best possible kind!

I would love to hear what you thought of the year! I hope it’s been great for you and that you have many wonderful adventures coming your way.

With love and great expectations,
Cheree

New Book Release- Heart of the Wolf!

Heart of the Wolf Part One is out!!! Here's the blurb of the book:

When a Wolf Shifter is captured and sentenced to death, Prince Edric saves Fade’s life and in return earns his loyalty. As the prince’s bodyguard, Fade puts his life on the line to thwart threats to the crown. Fade’s disguise is simple until he finds the one thing that can break his carefully constructed walls, a pair of beautiful green eyes that reflect the loss and loneliness concealed within his heart. The only problem is that the eyes belong to Edric’s sister, a princess who is already betrothed to Fade’s worst enemy.

Thank you to all of my readers. I greatly appreciate all you do and I would love to hear what you think of this book. You can find this series in paperback or ebook on my website at www.chereealsop.com or at Amazon.com. It's also available from Smashwords.com or Barnes & Noble.

If you enjoy my books, please rate them on Amazon and Goodreads so others can find them. Find this book and my others at www.chereealsop.com.

I am also working on a self-publishing section on my website that will give tips and tricks for those who are looking to self-publish their books. I have had great joy in fulfilling my dreams, and I would love to help others do the same!

Thanks again and enjoy!

Sincerely,

New Book Release! Keeper of the Wolves

I just released Keeper of the Wolves about an hour ago. This is a book that is very close to my heart. It's taken about a year for this one to finally reach a place where I felt like it was ready for publishing. For those of you that know my writing style, that is a long time!

Victus' story appealed to me from the very beginning. I first began thinking of a backwards werewolf story while I was writing the Silver Series. Writing about urban werewolves is always fun and I constantly search for a fresh point of view, but the idea of a wolf who turns into a human with the confusion of human thoughts and feelings just didn't fit the Silver Series' storyline. Eventually, with a cage, a whip, and compassionate blue eyes, the story took off almost faster than I could write it. Victus and Koya face both the controversy of their forbidden love, as well as the dangers Koya's noble birth and uncertain claim to the throne bring with it.

The loyalty of a wolf and the love that goes along with it has long inspired me. I hope that Victus' story captures your heart and gives you another adventure worth reading. Enjoy!

Self-publishing class

I am accepted to teach two classes for the League of Utah Writers Conference in September. It is a great honor and a dream come true. For me, being a writer means helping others either live their dreams through reading or helping them achieve their own success by believing in themselves. 'Believe' has always been the biggest mantra for me. I needed to believe in myself, believe in my writing, and believe in those who told me that my books were good enough to be released on my own. Thank you so much to those people, because my books are truly carrying themselves and the response I have received has been astounding. I am living my dream, and I look forward to teaching others how to do the same!

Award Winning Poem

I was shocked and thrilled when my name was called last night for winning first place in the Odyssey Poetry Contest at Life, the Universe and Everything symposium.

Here’s the poem:

A Tale of Moonlight

Beneath the werewolf moon slept the Hunter’s only daughter;
Fair beyond compare, her heart was closed to all who sought her.
For she heard the song beyond the trees and felt the moonlight’s pull;
She waited until her parents slept, then into the forest stole.

She felt his golden eyes upon her and met his wild, feral gaze;
He circled slowly around her in the moonlit meadow’s haze.
But she was not afraid, though her heart pounded in her chest;
She held her head up high and hoped that she would pass his test.

He closed the space between them, his tread silent as the night;
And stopped where he could study her bathed in silvery starlight.
He reached up a hand and touched her hair as fair as meadow gold;
His fingers lingered on her skin, her cheeks flushed from the midnight cold.

His eyes were dark where hers were light, her smile melted his every wall;
He could hear the pureness of her heart, and felt his defenses fall.
He was her opposite in everything, her soft thoughts and every feature;
He dropped his gaze and turned away, for he was a dark and deadly creature.

She grabbed his hand, a daring move that surprised the pair;
He turned back with a shadow smile, and watched her standing there.
‘Please,’ she whispered desperately, her heart in her eyes unfurled;
He let out a breath, took her hand, and led her into his world.

The darkness washed to color, every leaf and petal gleamed;
She stepped into a hidden world that no human eye had seen.
He led her through golden ferns and past lakes awash in flame;
Through shadowed graves where warriors lay and souls without a name.

The darkness revealed wonders that chased the fears far from her mind;
He watched her as she saw his life, her smile soft and kind.
He took her to the meadow and the trees that were his home;
He watched her as she tread where he had only walked alone.

She held his heart with every smile, her blue eyes bright and clear;
But he was afraid to take the final step, for others had shown him only fear.
When she touched his cheek he closed his eyes, his body still as stone;
To keep himself from hiding from the only kindness he had known.

Her lips pressed soft to his, her kiss so sweet it calmed his heart;
He kissed her back as tenderly, their worlds no longer far apart.
She slept within his arms, her hair a halo on his chest;
He rose and when she stirred, he bid his fair maiden to rest.

He carried her through the trees to her home upon the hill;
And set her gently in her bed as the sun rose beyond the sill.
He watched her as she slept with a smile on her face;
Then in a wolven hush he turned and into morning light he raced.

The Hunter’s daughter woke, her dreams so real she paused to stare;
At the sunlight that spilled in the window, and the meadow gold that rested there.

Life, the Universe, and Everything Conference

I am excited to go the Life, The Universe, and Everything conference today and tomorrow in Provo, Utah. Tonight they are having a huge author signing event, and I am really looking forward to it. I love going to book signings. It’s so much fun talking to other authors, finding out their inspirations and motivations for writing, and to meet readers personally and sign the books that they buy. Everyone has a story, and everyone has a reason that certain stories touch them; to hear the way my books have touched another is such an amazing experience. There is something special about a group of authors and readers getting together. Everyone is there for one reason- the love of the written word. Whether it’s crafting stories for others to enjoy or delving deep into worlds unique to each writer, books give escape to those they touch.
Writer’s conferences motivate me to work harder, write more, and always make sure I maintain the level of storybuilding and writing that my readers deserve. I love writing. If I wasn’t publishing my books, I would still be writing. It’s in my mind and blood, and stories continue to flow as fast as I can capture them. To be around other authors similarly minded toward writing is so much fun. The conversations are enlightening, the classes informative and captivating, and the entire experience is something I look forward to all year round. Thank you to all of the great authors, agents, readers, publishers, and aspiring writers who make such a great event happen.

Working for Fun

As I am writing, my kids are playing hide and go seek. My ten year old daughter is chasing my three year old twins boys around as they hide in conspicuous places like under a blanket or in the laundry baskets....The best part of watching my children play is to see their imagination at work. They are pirates- well, one boy is a pirate while the other is 'knife guy', and my daughter is a pirate princess. For me, hearing their stories and listening to their laughter is the best thing in the world.

I am writing this post because a reader named Diane mentioned that she also has children (a daughter and one on the way), and she is happy that I find time to write while raising my children. Diane has been very kind and insightful regarding my books, and it makes me smile to know that another mother out there is also finding time to read while raising children. As we grasp a sentence here and a paragraph there, we get the joy of watching our children learn and grow, and hopefully see our appreciation of books and value them in the same way. Watching my daughter read the way I did- under the blankets at night with a flashlight (she now has a lamp), makes me so happy. I used to horde books like a squirrel with acorns, hiding them away for the slow, lazy hours of the summer when I could climb a tree and read to my heart's content. Of course, as all readers know, you are never content. As soon as one book is finished, you are looking for the next one with the hopes of another story that will pull at your heartstrings, take you on an adventure, and show you places far beyond the trails below your feet.

I have the best job in the world, because I get to inspire others and give them the escape and adventure books have to offer. I love writing, and to be able to do it while enjoying each day with my family is the best thing on earth. Keep reading and enjoy!
