*leans and grins*

So, I’m sure y’all have heard that I’m trying to buy a house, and OMG THE STRESS. There’s roof stuff and termite stuff and closing stuff and...

Yeah.

Whoa.

Also, stress and scariness and I just want to be excited and I can’t be.

Still, we’ve decided we’re staying here. We’re joining a church, we’re joining the NM Women’s Chorus. We have a chiropractor and a diner and Miss Val at the Smith’s who calls us "my ladies". We have the dog park and Miss H who has broken her back twice and does yoga while we chat. We have wine dates with A. We have roadrunners and coyotes and jackrabbits and falcons and bunnies on the escarpment and the Man with the Hat, who says good morning every day now (it only took him 8 months to decide we weren’t going to give up on him).

We have the mountains — which, oh, y’all. I can’t tell you how happy they make me. Every morning I wake up and look outside my front door and there they are. The new house? Has a sun room (which will become the writing room and the art studio) that looks out onto the mountains from the back yard. :D

We have roses that bloom for months and days in August that are only 80 degrees for the high and the O-o-O accent.

Oh, and I haven’t told y’all about Levi the contractor-biker yet and his California surfer boy. Oh. Too fun!

Every so often I miss Texas so bad I can’t bear it. I miss the voices and the food and, God, I miss my daddy like a lost limb and my tattoo artist and chiccarones.

WTH. They don’t have those here. O.o

It passes though, and I know that my wife (STILL MAKES ME GIDDY TO SAY THAT) is home here and I love it here and we’ve made our home here, so it’s all good.

Really good.

Much love, y’all.

Happy Tuesday Snippet! Coke/Dillon

"Shit and shinola."

There was water pouring out of the top of the washing machine, the bassets belly deep in suds and the mud room looking a little like a kiddie pool.

Dillon looked around Coke’s shoulder. "That’s not good."

"Nope." He lifted the lid of his old Kenmore, wincing at the scent of smoke pouring out the top. "Huh."

"Can you fix it?"

"I reckon if I can’t, Steve McBride can." He looked at the mess and tried to figure out where the fuck to start. Maybe by calling Steve now before he’d wasted a couple of hours and killed his back. "You might oughta get them dogs out of here. Pansy eats more bubbles and she’s gonna barf all damn day."

He grabbed a clothes basket and started pulling sopping wet clothes out, grunting at the effort. Damn, those got heavy.

He turned to get the dripping mess out the back door and frowned. "Cowboy? Cowboy, damn it! I asked you to get the damn dogs!"

"Sorry, babe. I was on the phone with Steve. He’ll be here in fifteen." Dillon shooed the dogs out onto the porch and held the door so Coke could plop the clothes on one of the patio tables. Then Dillon got the mop. "No sense in you hurting yourself when we can give Steve work."

He looked at his clown, grinned. "You think so."

Dillon gave him a grin, then shimmied for him. Damn, didn’t that make his mouth dry. "I know so. Come watch me mop."

Well, yee-haw.

Dillon and Coke are featured in the Roughstock series!

Much love, y’all!

AAD Recap: TACOS!

I can’t...

I don’t even know how to bounce and squee about AAD enough.

This is my favorite con all year because there are so many old friends and new friends and good friends. I can’t list them, because sure as shit I’ll forget things and people.

The best part? Winning a Bookie (BEST HERO, Y’ALL! Go Alpha Call!) and hearing "TACOS" from the audience.

Don’t worry, I’m going to do a podcast to explain in detail, so everyone can share in the insanity, but for now?

Pictures!

Here are the bags we stuffed for the Midnight Rodeo Welcoming Party. 400 bags.

IMG 2699

BOOKS! Kiernan and Julia and me and werewolves and vampires and rodeo and demons and...

IMG 2700

My beloved good twin, Kiernan Kelly. :D Yeah, I’m totally the evil one.

IMG 2701

Yes. We had a MECHANICAL FUCKING BULL at our party!

IMG 2702

This con’s slippers. FYI, I don’t do uncomfortable. If you see the big redneck in crazy slippers at a con, it’s probably me.

IMG 2704

Did I mention MECHANICAL BULL?

IMG 2706

Me and my shirt and Julia’s foot. I do have pants on, I promise.

IMG 2709

BOOKIE! Eeee!

IMG 2714

At the book signing. My shirt says "Julia Talbot Fan Club President". I was that before I fell in love with her.

IMG 2716

I have no idea WTF we were doing...

IMG 2719

Andrew Grey and me sponsoring the Pride table. Ann Mayburn said next time I need a little mini Uhaul to pull around behind me...

IMG 2717

Our sin was PRIDE!

IMG 2718

My gorgeous wife!

IMG 2737

My lovely wife and the winner of my costume contest!

IMG 2740

Ah, the elixir of life...

Much love, y’all.

Six Sentence Sunday: m/m paranormal Alpha Beta (working title)

Mai sounded overwhelmed, incredibly honored.

He preened a bit, showing off for his mate. Ash moaned softly, fingers trailing over Mai’s skin.

“Touch me. Yes.” Mai crowded closer, obviously needing more.

The permission to explore was delicious, so he let himself touch, let his fingers trail over Maicoh’s fuzzy belly.

Much love, y’all.
