Writer Wednesday: Kaylie Newell

Hi! Thanks so much for coming today. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi there!  Thanks for having me :) My name is Kaylie Newell and I write steamy romances centered on hunky police officer heroes.  My novella, Teaching Officer Lonesome releases August 20th.  Can't wait!Tell us a bit about your book.Teaching Officer Lonesome is a contemporary May/December about a young woman who falls for a sexy, older cop with a broken heart.
Here's the blurb:
Hope Marlow is a twenty-two-year-old seasoned vet when it comes to steamy one-night stands. Hope has had a hard life. From the wrong side of the tracks and abandoned by her mother, she finds herself trying to raise her little sister on a salary that barely pays the bills each month. She’s tough, jaded, but when she’s pulled over one sweltering summer afternoon for not using her turn signal, she meets her match in a sexually inexperienced cop twice her age.
The day Jack Malone stopped Hope is one he can’t forget. It’s more than the way she looked in the miniskirt and hot pink tank top, it’s her confidence that keeps coming back to haunt him. But Jack is still reeling from his wife’s death a year ago, and Hope represents things he thinks he can’t have with a woman—passion and a new beginning. Plus, there’s the fact that she’s practically half his age.
Hope sees things differently. The age difference doesn’t bother her, but while Jack craves an emotional connection, Hope has no interest in that. She’s an expert at pushing her emotions aside, and she knows that if Jack would let her, she could teach him how fulfilling lust alone can be. With that in mind, she sets out to seduce the sexy cop.
It’s only during their first night of passion that they both discover how much they’ve been missing.
Is this part of a series?
It's not, but I wouldn't mind writing a continuation to Hope and Jack's story someday soon.  I love these characters.
What was your favorite part?
The beginning of the novella has one of my favorite scenes.  Jack stops Hope for not using her turn signal and Hope tries her hardest to get out of the ticket by using her "female charms".  She's very confident, and is mildly surprised when Jack doesn't seem phased at all.  She's always used sex to get ahead in life and in her experience, that's what men respond to most.  But Jack is different.  He wants more than just sex.  He wants love.  She wonders if she'll ever be good enough for a man like Jack Malone.
Why did you choose to write romance?
I think one of the main reasons I write romance is because I just can't get enough of that "falling in love" feeling.  It's addictive.  Creating it over and over with different characters is kind of a writing high ;)  And I love seeing them get their happy endings.
Do you ever have any conversations in your head with your characters? If so, can you give us a hint of what you might talk about?
I don't ever have conversations with them, but I do hear them talking amongst themselves.  It's like I'm eavesdropping from another room.  For some reason I hear them in the shower a lot.  That's when they feel like talking the most and more often than not, I'll have to jump out dripping wet and write a plot point down before I forget.
Rate your story in terms of steaminess
I'd say it's three chocolate truffles out of four.  Enough to get completely satisfied, but still be able to fit into your skinny jeans the next day :)
What are you reading right now?
I just finished The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule.  Wow.  This is the first book I've read by her and I can officially say I'm now a crazy fan.  She's a genius true crime writer and this book was as fascinating as it was chilling.
I know this is like asking who is your favorite child, who is your favorite romance author (s)?
Karen Robards!  I love the way she mixes humor, steam and suspense.  I have an autographed copy of Vanished that my best friend gave me and it's my absolute pride and joy.
What is your favorite romance book or series?
Ohh...that's a tough one.  Superstition by Karen Robards is one of my favorites.  I also love Walking After Midnight and One Summer.
Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*
Michael Noonan from Bag of Bones (by Stephen King).  I don't really think he could be considered a romance character, but I thought he was very "romantic", if that makes sense.  He's a writer and is very sexy in a subtle, authory kind of way.  If I could go on a date with Mr. Noonan, I think I'd spend the whole time talking about books.  And then try and jump his bones, of course.
Boxers or Briefs?
Oh, boy.  Can I go against the grain here and say jockeys?
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Chocolate!
Do you have a special piece of clothing you wear when you write?
I wish I had a lucky sweater or something like that.  Sadly, the only article of clothing of mine that's a constant when writing, is undies.  I always wear those.
What is next for you?
Right now I'm working on my third full length novel, called Taming Johnny.  It's kind of a twist on the Taming Of The Shrew.  A sexy, but very grumpy police lieutenant meets his match in a young police clerk who doesn't take any of his guff, and sparks fly!
What were your first impressions of each other?
Jack: When I met Hope that first day, I thought she was beautiful, of course.  But what struck me the most were her street smarts and intelligence.  She's very mature for her age.
Hope: Other than him being drop dead gorgeous?  The fact that he seemed like such a good guy.  Very serious, yes.  But I could tell he was a good cop and a good man from the first time I talked to him.  He recognized my name and remembered that I had called the station a few times when we were having a problem with our neighbor.  He asked how my little sister and I were doing.  I remember thinking that if he were married, his wife was a lucky girl.
What are your favorite parts about each other?
Jack: Her confidence (grinning).  When she sees something she wants, she goes after it like a pit bull.
Hope: His tenderness (also grinning).  Sometimes it gets tiring when you feel like you're taking on the world and everyone in it.  It's nice to be with someone so calming and gentle, and who loves you for who you really are.
What’s next for you?
Jack: A vacation?  What do you think, baby?
Hope: ...Vegas?
For Kaylie Newell, storytelling is in the blood.  Growing up the daughter of two gifted writers, she knew eventually she’d want to follow in their footsteps.  While she’s written short stories her whole life, it wasn’t until after her kids were born that she decided to shoot for the moon and write her first romance novel.  She hasn’t looked back since!Kaylie lives in Southern Oregon with her husband, two little girls and her two indifferent cats,  Alice and Cosmo. She would love to hear from you!  You can find her at:  http://www.kaylienewell.com http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1121007272http://twitter.com/#!/KaylieNewell

Excerpt:Before her knees could touch the linoleum, he grabbed her and pulled her up again. “I don’t even know you, Hope. And you don’t know me. Don’t you think there’s something off here?”“No.”He grunted.“Well, I don’t,” she said. “You’re a guy. Guys like sex. They understand it. They relate to it. It’s how you operate. Lucky for you, I happen to speak guy.”The beginnings of a smile touched his lips. “I don’t operate like that. I don’t just sleep with random women. I need more than this.”More than this. Hope considered herself pretty tough. She was young, but she’d seen a lot. Her father’s abuse, her mother’s abandonment, extreme poverty. She’d seen her fair share. But despite that, hearing those words coming from this man, hurt. A lot. She wasn’t good enough. She dropped her hands and stepped back. “I see.”He must have recognized the look on her face, because he immediately reached out again. She pulled away and sat heavily on the couch.“That’s not what I meant.”She bit the inside of her cheek, unable to look at him. “I know what you meant. And that’s okay. It really is.”Liar. It’s not okay. It’s never going to be okay. The steel wall around her heart magically gained another layer as she made a bitter mental note. It’s official. Sexy, older soccer dads who look fantastic in their work uniforms, and who also happen to be handy around the house, are off your list, missy.Jack bent down and took her hands. When she tried to pull them back, he tightened his grip. “Will you listen to me for a second?”She stared at the floor as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. When he touched his fingers to her chin, they were warm and calloused, rough and sexy. He raised her head gently until she had no choice but to look him in the face.“That’s not what I meant,” he said, his voice low. “You’re a beautiful young woman. Any man would be lucky to have you.”She clamped her teeth together. I will not cry, I will not cry, I will not cry. She must be premenstrual.“I didn’t mean I need more than this.” Emphasizing the last word, his eyes fell, lingering for a moment on her breasts. “I meant I need more in the form of a relationship.”“A relationship?” She searched his face for any sign he was joking, but found none. He really was too good to be true. “Seriously?”“Why’s that so hard to believe?”“I’ve just never met a guy who actually wanted a relationship before sex.” She smiled a little, but he remained serious.“I don’t think sex should be a casual thing. I think you should love someone first. Or at least have feelings for them.”Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, she wondered if she could convince him otherwise. She happened to know sex could be mind-blowing, even if you weren’t head over heels in love.“Can I ask you something?” she said.He sat back on his heels. “Shoot.”“How many women have you been with?”His face colored, even through the thick, dark stubble which prickled his neck and jaw. “That’s none of your business, Hope.”“I think it’s relevant to the conversation we’re having.”“I’m not discussing this with you.”“Maybe you should.”He was quiet for a minute, and so was she. They stared at each other for a long moment before he spoke again.“I’m flattered. I really am. But I’m too old for you.”“You think you’re too old for me. I feel differently.”He smiled in a way that said he was done talking about it. “I’m too old for you. But I’d like to be friends. Do you think we can manage that?”Sure. Whatever.Sticking his hand out to shake, he was suddenly Officer Malone again. The aloof and businesslike cop who had stopped her last week for the blinker thingy.“Sure,” she said, feeling like a little girl with a hopeless crush. “Friends.”

Kaylie Newell will be giving away a signed copy of Falling In Danger to a random commenter on the post.

Dust of My Wings - Six Sentence Sunday #51

Thanks so much for coming! Below is a snippet from Dust of My Wings! Love y'all!

One look from the man with the ice-blue eyes, and she melted into a puddle. Oh, his eyes. They were a crystal blue that seemed to fracture like diamonds from the iris and spiraled into a concentric pattern. She’d never seen anything like them. Simply breathtaking. And, when he stared into her eyes….

Fresh Friday Reads: A Variety of Oh My!

Below is a list of the books I bought this week. What have you read?

Hammer it Home - Jayne Rylon
When times get tough, the tough stage one scorching-hot intervention.

Powertools, Book 6

Morgan is happy that her best friend Kate is expecting the crew’s littlest member, but helping renovate a room for a nursery is more than she can bear. Baby furniture and pastel paint are a painful reminder that she and Joe can’t—and will never—conceive. There’s no hiding it from the rest of the close-knit crew, either.

True to their unique brand of love, the gang rallies to find a non-traditional solution to alleviate their friends’ suffering. Not with a cold, clinical visit to a sperm donation clinic, but delivering it the old-fashioned way. With a healthy dose of searing passion.

But soon after Morgan’s scorching hot night with her husband’s four best friends, an accident threatens the life of one of those men. The challenges that lie ahead will test the crew’s powerful bond to the limit—and their long-standing promise to take care of each other through good, bad, and sexy times. Whatever it takes…

Product Warnings
Not everything in life turns out as planned, but with love all odds are surmountable. Especially when those odds include five hot construction workers on your side. Contains m/m/f group ménage scenes.
Hoping for Love - Marie Force
All her life, Grace Ryan was the “fat girl.” Taunted and teased and ignored by her peers, she tried every diet ever invented to no avail. Desperate to change her life as her twenties slipped away, she decided it was time for drastic measures and had lap-band surgery. More than a year later, she's lost 130 pounds and is venturing into the dating world for the first time. During a boat trip to Gansett Island with the new guy in her life, Grace refuses to have sex with him and finds herself abandoned without a dollar to her name at McCarthy's Gansett Island Marina.

At home for the summer awaiting the launch of his debut CD, music star-in-the-making Evan McCarthy is performing at the Tiki Bar when he notices Grace looking lost in a sea of happy people. Evan comes to her aid and quickly finds himself smitten. But the last thing Grace needs after all she’s been through is a guy who “doesn't do relationships.” Will Evan change his ways to win Grace's heart?
The Inn at Rose Harbor - Debbie Macomber
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber comes a heartwarming new series based in the Pacific Northwest town of Cedar Cove, where a charming cast of characters finds love, forgiveness, and renewal behind the doors of the cozy Rose Harbor Inn.

Jo Marie Rose first arrives in Cedar Cove seeking a sense of peace and a fresh start. Coping with the death of her husband, she purchases a local bed-and-breakfast—the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn—ready to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine.

Her first guest is Joshua Weaver, who has come home to care for his ailing stepfather. The two have never seen eye to eye, and Joshua has little hope that they can reconcile their differences. But a long-lost acquaintance from Joshua’s high school days proves to him that forgiveness is never out of reach and love can bloom even where it’s least expected.

The other guest is Abby Kincaid, who has returned to Cedar Cove to attend her brother’s wedding. Back for the first time in twenty years, she almost wishes she hadn’t come, the picturesque town harboring painful memories from her past. And while Abby reconnects with family and old friends, she realizes she can only move on if she truly allows herself to let go.

A touching novel of life’s grand possibilities and the heart’s ability to heal, The Inn at Rose Harbor is a welcome introduction to an unforgettable set of friends.

Thursday Tales: Lynn Crain

Hi! Thanks so much for coming today. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Why do interviewers always ask authors this question? Wait...I answered you with a question...LOL! There’s not much to tell really. I’m more than likely considered over-the-hill by many but I’m a woman living the writing dream. Right now, I write full time as I live with my husband in Vienna, Austria. I was born in Ohio and my home is usually in southern Nevada. I’ve belonged to RWA for more years than I can remember as well as other online writer organizations. I love to hear from writers and new readers. That about sums it up for now!
Tell us a bit about your book.
My current book is a very sexy sci-fi space menage. It’s about male sex gods – er – erotic dancers and how they have to get kidnapped by a very sexy Harvester. Here’s the blurb:Princess Sky Xera Nerezsh came to earth to avoid the normal succession path to the throne. Being the oldest daughter, she will be required to murder her mother in order to secure her path to power. Sky loves her mother and refuses this path, choosing instead to disappear in the vast reaches of space. When her past collides with her present, she has to think quick on her feet, claim two men and a whole planet just to avoid the inevitable: a meeting with her mother. Along the way, she discovers true love and a burning need to be there for them always. Now if the other Harvesters can just keep to themselves, they’ll have no problems. But who said true love was ever easy.
Is this part of a series?
Yes, this is part of the Girls Night Out series, which is a multi-author universe. My second book should be out by the end of the year. I’m hoping that at least one of the other authors will have theirs out as well.
What was your favorite part?
There are too many to say. I do love the part when Sky gets agitated and starts to use her enhancements on earth. Those around her aren’t sure whether to be intrigued or afraid. LOL!
Why did you choose to write romance?
I couldn’t not write romance. I’ve been reading it since I was 12. I actually burned my original copy of The Flame and the Flower because I thought my mother was going to ban me from reading ‘those type’ of books. She laughed and then gave me some more. I still have my first Harlequin book titled Castles in Spain and read it occasionally.
Do you ever have any conversations in your head with your characters? If so, can you give us a hint of what you might talk about?
Every day. Matter of fact, I’m beating off a few of them to get this interview done. LOL!
Rate your story in terms of steaminess
Geez...rate my story huh? How about ‘burn your eyebrows off from the heat’? Does that work? LOL!
What are you reading right now?
I have quite a few in my TBR pile right now. I just finished these books in July: Julianne MacLean’s The Rebel, Jade Lee’s Burning Tigress, Anya Bast’s Fury, Annie Nicolas’ Bait, Mya Jackson’s Soldier Come Home, and Lynette Sofras The Apple Tree. I haven’t cracked a book this month as I am truly trying to write. Actually, that isn’t true...I’ve been cracking all sorts of writer help books but other than that, I’ve been keeping my hands off any new reading material until I get finished with my WIP.
I know this is like asking who is your favorite child, who is your favorite romance author (s)?
And I am so going to disappoint you because I really don’t have one. I’m such a voracious writer that I read everything and everyone. I have my go-to authors like Melissa Schroeder, Kayelle Allen, Karen Cote, Sharon Sala and Gini Koch. If I have to say a favorite it would have to be Gini but then again, she and I are great friends. MOF, we miss each other terrribly and she’s trying to get me home for a conference. LOL!
What is your favorite romance book or series?
Most of my favorite series tend to be sci-fi or urban fantasies. As far as romance, I love Mel Schroeder’s A Little series. I’m starting to get into Brenda Novak’s Whiskey Creek series but by and large, I read a book because I think I’ll love it period.
Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*
I have a lot of favorite characters. But my all time favorite is one out of my own books...Logan MacKenzie...that man is a dream. I can’t wait for that book to come out. Obviously, he’s Scottish and we’d go somewhere in Scotland. And it could be anywhere...I love Edinburgh as well as the Highlands...but there’s a place on his estate that I can see in my mind. A hot tub that looks out over a Highland valley and it’s thick with purple thistle. He’s cooked me a nice dinner and I’m waiting anxiously to see what it is. He knows I love a good steak. Afterwards, we take our drinks and sit gazing out into the beauty of the Highlands. It wouldn’t take long before he was all over me with those great hands and fantastic mouth...and if I have to tell you any more...you don’t have one bit of imagination. LOL!
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxers.
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla.
Do you have a special piece of clothing you wear when you write?
Usually my pajamas or my slounge clothing. You know, the stuff you may or may not be caught dead in because it’s too big, has holes in it and is generally comfortable in a fantastic way. Those are the things I usually wear as I hit my computer at about 7 am and am not off it until about 9 pm. Yes, I have breaks but spend a lot of time at my machine. We don’t watch much TV and my husband works long hours.
What is next for you?
I have so many irons in the fire...LOL! Right now, I’m gearing up for my next release, Unlike Paradise, which should happen at the end of this month. I also have another book coming out in September as well as a print book coming out then. I just got contracted for two stories in a couple of anthologies and have another couple of contracts to fulfill with a current publisher...all this before the end of the year. I am a busy girl but then again, here in Vienna, I don’t have many distractions and can put the majority of my time into my writing.
What were your first impressions of each other?
ZANE: I thought she had cool green eyes but Jaxon was way more cautious than I am.JAXON: I couldn’t believe a woman could look that good. I was right, she’s something very special.SKY: The attraction I felt for them was immediate and I knew I had to do whatever possible to keep them safe. Even if that meant running into my mother again.
What are your favorite parts about each other?
ZANE: Are we talking about body parts here?JAXON: Is your mind always in the gutter?SKY: Hey you two, cut it out...frankly...looking up your kilts is quite a turn-on.
What’s next for you?
ZANE: As in the next few minutes? Well, since we’re still on our honeymoon, I mean you did contact us on this private island...what do you think is next?JAXON:<Snort> There is more to Sky than getting into her pants.ZANE: Yeah, but those are some of the best parts.SKY: If you two don’t behave, I could sic Bess on you. Now there’s an idea. <LOL!>
Blurb: Princess Sky Xera Nerezsh came to earth to avoid the normal succession path to the throne.

Book Excerpt:Suddenly one dark haired man was on the table in front of her, gyrating his sexy hips in her face, his package mere inches from her mouth. In another life, she would have leaned forward and planted her lips on his crotch, willing his body to perform. She really should have been paying more attention to the situation around her instead of wondering about where Angela had gotten herself.Leaning down, his breath reminded her of the sweetgrass that grew on her home planet of Tyrsati, heightening her senses even more. “Sweetheart, I see how you want me...it’s written all over your face.” His voice purred in her ear.Sky gasped and pulled back to get a better look at the man in front of her. He reminded her of the gods of Vada. He was tall, well-muscled, dark hair brushing the top of his shoulders and had the most incredible violet eyes she had ever seen. Guess the optics weren’t wrong. He would fetch an exquisite price on Texra and her mother would be extremely proud for her acquisition. She shook her head to clear the cobwebs.“Nice eyes, sweetie – hang around after the show – I’ll make it worth your while.” His voice hit a resonance with her and her whole body flushed. It had been years since she had reacted to any man. Now her emotions and body betrayed her for an insignificant being on an outer planet. She shook her head. This planet was no more insignificant than any other, including her own but she knew if she didn’t get herself under control, the Harvester in her would take over. Old habits die hard.“Don’t let his demeanor fool you, luvey. He just wants to get into your pants.” Another deep voice reverberated close to her ear.She glanced over her shoulder and again her breath was nearly taken away as she looked into the bluest eyes she’d ever seen in the galaxy bar none. The sky of Octa couldn’t hold a candle to the color that swirled in their depths. “Ooo, Jaxon is right about the eyes. Very cool green.”“Contacts,” Sky managed to get out for the second time this evening, her voice low.“And a sexy voice to boot. Very nice.” He twirled away to join his companion on stage. He was just as nice looking as the first guy but just a little shorter. His shiny hair swung around his jaw line as he moved and her hands ached to run her fingers through it and over his body. She sat there stunned as the people at her table laughed and clapped her on the back as if she’d done some sort of fantastic feat. While her time on this planet had been very thrilling, in her old life working for her mother, their performances had to be impeccable or their fate might be worse than death. She vaguely wondered just how she’d rate them.Sky did her best to smile and act as if what happened was one of the most exciting things in her life when in reality it brought back some memories she’d rather forget. Folding her hands in front of her, she closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. She opened her eyes slow and caught a glimpse of a targeting laser. The light was in a part of the spectrum that no one of this planet could even see but her optics caught it.Scanning the crowd, she allowed her eyes to whirl, not caring who saw. There were not supposed to be any Harvesters on this world as it had been declared too primitive to even be included in the Alliance of Planets. She came here because she knew this was the one place her mother wouldn’t think to look. Now, she knew another Tyrsatian walked the same world as she did, occupying the very same room.Maybe it was time to see just what type of trouble Angela got herself into. Leaning across the table, she quickly gave Jayne her phone number and said her goodbyes to all the others present. Rising slowly, she didn’t want to alert the other Harvester but she was just far enough away and at a weird angle to not see who it might be. Moving quickly to the back wall, she moved to where she stood way behind the woman but close enough to see who it was. Jesata Ardik. Of all the Harvesters to show up on her new home planet, one of the most relentless in the business had to land on her new home. This wasn’t going to be easy. She had to delay her from marking them because once they were marked, it didn’t matter wherever in the universe they were, they would be considered fugitives until captured and sold to the highest bidder. Meaning, she wouldn’t be able to get them off world without the help of her mother.

It's coming! Bwah ah ah ah. Dust of My Wings is coming in print soon, meaning I'm about to be a print author! I know that it seems odd that I'm excited about a release of a book that's already released, but this is so new for me. I'm about to hold a book in my hands with my name on it for the first time. I don't know how that feels yet, but I'm already freaking out over it. I have five books out there with my name on it and they are all digital. The fact that people are reading my books just makes me want to jump up and down. But I've never had a book in print before. This is so freaking cool. As soon as its out there, I'll let you know.

I'm in the process of doing galley edits for it and making sure everything is nice and sparkly. I'm getting my proof for it soon so I'll show some pretty pictures. Speaking of pictures, did you take a look at that full cover? Just wow. SL Carpenter sure out did himself. He's so fantastic. He's been doing work for me for awhile now and I'm always floored whenever I see it. He also seems to get my anxiety LOL.

I've been getting questions about print and I though I'd answer them here:

Q: What took you so long?
A: Print books are more expensive to produce and honestly take more time to get perfect. I didn't want to have my books in print without a need and without time to really understand what I was doing.

Q: Why Dust of My Wings first?
A: Honestly, it was about timing and the fact that I don't have any Dante's Circle novellas. (I'll talk about the Redwood Pack in the next question.) In the future, I'm planning on each book coming out with it's print counterpart around the same time. So my Dante's Circle series and Holiday, Montana books will each have print books that have the same cover and title as its ebook.

Q: Hello! What about the Redwood Pack!?
A: This is more complicated. But don't worry, I'm coming up with books! You'll notice that I alternate between a novel and a novella with this series. Because of that, I'm going to print in Volumes. Meaning An Alpha's Path and A Taste for A Mate will be in Redwood Pack Vol 1. This will have a new cover and be out hopefully around September. Then Trinity Bound and A Night Away will be out in Redwood Pack Vol 2. Meaning when Enforcer's Redemption comes out in November, you won't be able to get a print version until Redwood Pack Vol 3. Since the next novella, Blurred Expectations, comes out in January, hopefully the print version will come out around then. It really all depends on how much Scott and I work together. We both have so many projects and we want to make these look amazing, that it will take time. But it WILL get out there. I know that's a long explanation, but the Redwood Pack will be out in Print. Just in Volumes. And you know me, everything will be clearly labeled for you so you'll know what you're getting.

I think that answers my print questions. I don't have a set release date for these, but I'll announce it when it comes out. Thanks for asking about it though! I'm so freaking exited about it!

Writer Wednesday: Jinni James & a Giveaway

Hi! Thanks so much for coming today. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Thanks for having me! I am a 30 year old wife and mother living in Huntsville, Alabama. I am also an administrative assistant which can make it kind of hard to get much writing done since I work all day then come home and I have chores and kids.  But writing is a passion of mine and I hope to turn it into a career.
I have been writing since I was a teenager.  I used to write all kinds of short stories and poems when I was in high school then after I got married I developed writer's block for years.  Finally all the doors and windows in my mind opened and suddenly my head is filled with stories and I cannot wait to share them all.
Tell us a bit about your book.
The Wolfs Maine is my first attempt at a novel.  It is a story very near and dear to my heart because it is extremely personal.  These characters developed themselves in my head one night and once I started writing I could not stop.  I took a risk with these characters but like I said it is a very personal story.  I just got to thinking what if a girl was just normal one day and then suddenly everything she has ever known is wrong?  She sets out for a mini adventure and it ends up changing her entire life.
Is this part of a series?
Honestly, I have not gotten this far yet.  When I first started writing this book it was only going to be this one story but I have been asked by many people if I am going to write a sequel with maybe another character.  So I think I will write another story connected to this one based on another character from The Wolfs Maine.  I am not sure if this will develop into a series or just a few books.
What was your favorite part?
My favorite part is losing myself in my characters.  The characters become your friends or your family and you want to do them justice by giving them one excellent story.  I love taking these stories I have locked in my brain and putting them down on paper.  My life can be kind of monotonous so it is nice to live vi-curiously through my characters.
Why did you choose to write romance?
Why not write romance?  In romance you have all the best things drama, romance, sex, action, and sometimes comedy.  I am such a romantic at heart, especially after finding and meeting my own soul mate so romance is such a wonderful thing to write about.  Plus, who doesn't like a good romance book every now and then or in my case ALWAYS.

Do you ever have any conversations in your head with your characters? If so, can you give us a hint of what you might talk about?
I remember first writing this story and developing Avalon's story line and I was just thinking, "Ava what are you thinking? Are you crazy?"  She only answered me back by going ahead and doing what was in her heart.  There is just no "coming to reason" with a love struck woman.

Rate your story in terms of steaminess.
Well, after I wrote The Wolfs Maine I thought it wasn't as steamy as it could have been.  However, a bunch of people that have read it seem to think it is very steamy and will get you blushing after the first few chapters.  So on a scale from 1-10, 1 being absolutely prude and 10 being you have to go jump your husband right now I would say it is a 8.

What are you reading right now?
Right now I am reading Under the Vampire Moon by Lynsay Sands.  After beginning her Argeneau Vampire Series I have been obsessed ever since and I read every single book she comes out with.

I know this is like asking who is your favorite child, who is your favorite romance author (s)?
Oh that is a hard one!  I don't really have just one favorite.  Lynsay Sands of course is one of them along with J. R. Ward and Tina Folsom.

What is your favorite romance book or series?
It is a tie between Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampire Series and J. R. Wards Black Dagger Brother Hood series.  I am just now branching out into other series's now.

Who is your favorite romance character? If you could go on a date with that person, what would you do? Details please! *wink*
My favorite romance character? Hummm, that's a hard one!  I am going to have to go with Tiny in the Argeneau series.  Who wouldn't love a strong, sensitive, man who can cook?  I mean it's a no brainer.
Boxers or Briefs?
Boxers all the way.  Especially silk ones!

Chocolate or Vanilla?
This one is easy.  BOTH!
Do you have a special piece of clothing you wear when you write?
Usually I write in my pajamas.  I try to write when I get home from work and the minute I walk through the door I change my clothes, fix dinner, get my girls settled, and then hop on the computer for an hour so I'm usually in my pj's.  It definitely makes it comfy.
What is next for you?
Right now I am writing a different romance novel, called Business and Pleasure. This one is modern so there are no shape shifters or vampires in it, I know (frown) but it is a very sexy story and I am finding myself growing as a writer.  It is about a strong, very successful business woman named Elizabeth who just happens to meet a man that wants to take over her company named Alexander and the sparks begin to fly.  I am also beginning a novel for teenagers and like I mentioned before a sequel for The Wolfs Maine may just be in the works.

What were your first impressions of each other?
Avalon--I thought John was the most handsome and sexy man I had ever laid eyes on.  I knew there was no way he could be real.  Something was off and I knew I was about to find out what that was.
John--My first impression of Avalon came much earlier than hers did.  I always knew she was a beautiful and intelligent woman however, from the moment we met face to face I knew she had me, body and soul.
What are your favorite parts about each other?
Avalon--My favorite parts about John are his compassion and his undying devotion.  He looks pretty dang good as a human or anything else for that matter.
John--My favorite parts about Avalon are her strengths and her love not just for me but for her friends as well.  Plus, she is gorgeous.  Enough said.

What’s next for you?
Avalon--A vacation!
John--Lots of rest, sex, love, and maybe a wedding in the future? *winks*
Avalon felt like her life was set on repeat.  Every new day was just like the one before until Avalon's friends talk her into venturing out and leaving her dead end marriage behind. Little did she know that she would meet her soul mate face to face and that he would ignite a desire in her that she never knew existed.  John had been watching over Avalon ever since her parents died when she was three but she had no clue. She had only been talking to him online for two years.  She slowly learns that there is a whole world and a whole story she had not known about involving every one she knows and cares for.  Her husband Nicholas is not the man she thought him to be, if he is a man at all and John seems to be more than he lets on as well.  Avalon soon discovers the hidden truths but can she handle it? With Nicholas seeking vengeance can John and her friends help her?
Excerpt:
My breath stops as he gets closer to me.  Then I see him.  He is even more gorgeous than his picture.  He has such beautiful features, dark as night hair, beautiful green eyes that I could lose myself in, six feet of total perfection standing in front of me in jeans and a black sweater.  “Ava dear. Breathe.”  I let out a long breath that I hadn’t realized I was still holding but yet I still can’t talk.  I am just frozen which wouldn’t be a surprise standing out here but I am not even cold, just a complete statue.  This man in front of me can’t be interested in me, there is just no way.  He could have any beautiful, tall, blonde chick he wanted.  That is the only type of woman that would look right standing next to him.  “Ava. Are you ok?”  I just stare at him but I did manage a “I..uh..I..yes.”  He giggles as he walks up to me and wraps his arms around me for a hug.  “I have been waiting for this moment for so long.  I am so happy you decided to come over.  I hope you do not feel uncomfortable at my home.”  No, I just feel uncomfortable with how beautiful he is.  “Thank you for having me.”  “Ah, she talks!” He lets out a laugh again and I can feel myself manage a smile.

Tasty Tuesday: Charmed Spirits

Hi! And welcome back to Tasty Tuesday!!! We've missed you guys! So, what do you think of him? Other than his hair, I love him LOL. Yes, I'm picky! Below is a snippet from my upcoming Charmed Spirits! (Holiday, Montana Book 1)

“Jordan?”Jordan dropped her gum and Coke, the can rolling to the booted foot of the man with the voice that haunted her dreams. She raised her head, unable to speak, as he picked up the can. He had the same brown hair with honeyed streaks. It was longer now in the front than it had been when they were younger. Perfect for her fingers—no, she couldn’t think that. His blue eyes looked even sexier with his aged face, not old, but not an eighteen-year old boy either. No, this was a thirty-year-old man with the hard body to prove it.

Dust of My Wings Six Sentence Sunday #50

Hi All!

Thanks for coming today! Below is a snippet from my Latest Release, Dust of My Wings. Below Shade and Lily have just finished playing a game of dominoes, Lily's favorite game. :-)

She gathered the tiles quickly and started to stand up, but Shade touched her wrist. A jolt of electricity ricocheted through his arm and they both gasped. She jumped, knocking a few tiles back on the table. His erection pressed against the zipper of his jeans and he groaned, but he didn’t let go. Lily’s breathing quickened, and her pupils dilated. Her strawberry scent wrapped around him like velvet, intoxicating him.
