Guest Blogger SL Carpenter and Full Service

FULL_SERVICE_72 FULL SERVICE    (Working Stiffs Book 3)

For Rachel Franklin, truth is nowhere near as hot as fiction. She’s damn near given up on hoping to find a man who can make her toes curl or her spine bow with passion. It seems to happen all the time in those romance novels, but never to her. After a conversation with her girlfriends, Rachel decides to give sex one last shot. But this time, it’ll be her way. Uncomplicated, steamy and satisfying – without any of the fuss and bother that goes along with ‘relationships’.

And she finds the perfect candidate when her check engine light starts to flash and she heads for the local service station. Tyler Douglas takes one look and decides he’s more than ready to check under Rachel’s hood. Especially when she catches him off-guard and demands Full Service for more than just her car…

Excerpt:

Tyler motioned with his hand. “Okay. Kill the engine and pop the hood.”

The little vixen in her warmed up and she pulled out her hopeless woman card. “Um, that’s…this one? No? Can you show me?”

He opened her door and reached down beside her leg to the hood latch lever. “It’s right—here.”

He wasn’t hiding the fact that he had noticed her legs.  She was proud of them and took care to make sure they always looked good. She walked a lot and kept them smooth for when she was wearing dresses and showing them off. And sure, she’d hiked her skirt up a little when he walked up.

He cleared his throat as he moved to the engine. She tried to see him working but could only glimpse half of him as he dove under the hood. There was a distinct warmth between her legs as ideas of him checking under her hood danced across her mind.

“Okay, your oil was a little low. I filled it up.” He was wiping his hands on an old rag and smiling at her. “No charge, just keep an eye on it.”

“Thank you Tyler, I appreciate it.”

He kept smiling and looked into her eyes. His were soft brown and made her melt. Not to mention they were making her so fucking wet. She was having a bad case of lust right this moment.

“Is there anything else I can do for you?”

“Well yeah, there is.” She took a breath. “Take me out to dinner.”

The Bump in the Night Blog Hop!

14870_453775651381807_436932012_n

First, welcome to my new blog! This is my first blog hop over here so I can’t wait for you guys to take a look around. Now, why are you here you ask? Well we paranormal authors wanted to take a moment and talk about how the paranormal can so nicely entwine with romance. Considering we write about it, I would hope it does! I dent to think of the paranormal we write about as another element in which our characters need to deal with. When I read contemporary books I’m watching to see how their struggles in life, family, and their jobs work out to coincide with their romance. When I read historical, I take all that and add societal rules and historical facts to make it interesting. With the paranormal, sometimes I take all of that and add in a new change.

You see, I like the idea of things being slightly scary, slightly spine tingling. If you think about it, the scarier the better. I mean, how else will the heroine and hero fall into each other’s arms? I like that with my shifters, they have that slightly animalistic shade that brings them closer to growling, than singing poetry. I love that intense need that comes from being a wolf or something else and how it can fore the hero and heroine to take a good look at each other and want each other even when the world is crumbling around them. Plus, you know, since they are supernatural an all…certain *ahem* things can be more intense and can last longer. *cough*

So you see? The paranormal totally fits with romance. After all, even an Alpha wolf needs love too. Or maybe even a mechanic with lucky powers. :-)

HerLuckyLove72Her Lucky Love – Holiday, Montana 4

Brayden Cooper has always been lucky. It’s in his blood and in the coin that he has hanging on a leather tie around his neck. He has everything in the world he could ever want, money: a job, brothers he loves, and the luck that comes with his powers. Yet he’s empty. Everyone but him knows  he loves Allison, yet it’s going to take something stronger than luck to bring them together.

Allison Malone is exhausted. After the death of her abusive husband, her hell of a marriage is finally over and now she’s alone with her three children that are the center of her world. Long hours at work, plus mommy duty at home are taking its toll on her and that’s not the worst of it. Her late husband’s family is in town and they want her children.

The outsiders have secrets of their own and it’s going to take all of the Coopers, especially Brayden’s, help to save them. When trouble attacks, Allison will have to remember that she’s also a woman who needs love, and Brayden might be the one to give that to her.

Warning: Contains one sexy mechanic with a lucky streak, a waitress who needs to give into her temptations, and a love so fierce it’s bound to set the sheets on fire. Again.

Her Warriors’ Three Wishes Print ARC Giveaway

With my new site comes new giveaways! I’m giving away FIVE PRINT ARCs of Her Warriors’ Three Wishes (Dante’s Circle Book 2). Yep. FIVE. Now these aren’t the final versions since a couple formatting things and the page color will change, but it’s still the same story about Balin, Ambrose, and Jamie. How do you enter? Well that’s the fun part.

Because this is my new website, I’m letting you guys go on a hunt. On three of my series pages (Redwood Pack, Dante’s Circle, Holiday Montana), if you look around, you’ll see character trivia and perks. I want you to pick one character and tell me either their strength & weakness or a trivia fact about them in the comments section along with your email and name. Also, you need to either follow my newsletter or this blog. Get it? Just go the BOOKSHELF page and click one of the three series listed above and find me a their strength & weakness or a trivia fact about someone. The more variety in characters the better!

HerWarriorsThreeWishes72Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Ambrose Griffin is older than most, if not all, civilizations. As each year passes, he submerses himself into his training, only relaxing around his protégée and friend, Shade. After losing his wife and children in the last Angelic Wars, he guards his heart and has no desire to share it with another.

Bookkeeper and romance novel enthusiast, Jamie Bennett dreams of being swept off her feet by a white knight. However, her life is no romance book. Since meeting Ambrose—a sexy, delicious angel—she’s been twisted inside out and doesn’t know why. Things are happening that she can’t control and now her life is in danger.

Balin Drake is stuck in hell, literally. His life of refusing to take souls, even though it’s part of his demon nature, has caught up with him. He’s dying and now must search for his true half, but even a mating may not save him. When he meets the two people who could fill that part, he’ll need to fight for something he hasn’t felt in over a century—hope.

Warning: Contains a rigid angel who needs a certain sexy woman to help him unwind, a book keeper who finds herself the creamy center of the best cookie ever, and a demon who has a certain taste for pressing them both against walls.

Comment by 11:59:59 PM Eastern time on 4/4/13 for your chance to win. One winner will be selected randomly using a Random.org. Winners will be contacted by me off the loop. Take Another Step Back

I really shouldn't have been surprised. I mean, honestly, like we'd gain respect with just one interview? Instead of what could have been an incredible way to show off what we do, we were told over and over again we write "Mommy Porn."

Really?

Sorry, I'm not a "mommy" in their terms. Meaning I don't think my place is in the kitchen or by my husband's side, only doing what he says and being happy that he lets me have a voice every once in a while. I don't think that because I'm a woman I should surprise people that I have a brain. Sorry, people, I'm smarter than that. I have degrees, years in colleges, papers in my name in the scientific and mathematics communities. I've earned awards and grants for my research and my teaching. I've been voted favorite teacher and loved teaching chemistry.

That's right, boys, I taught SCIENCE.

I'm not your "mommy." Stop putting me in a corner. Stop trying to shove women in a box because *gasp* they do things on their own and have their own ideas.

I for sure don't write porn.

Porn is for the use of titillation as author Lauren Dane said HERE. I work hours a day coming up with plot, character development, and romance. I don't spend my day worrying only about sex scenes.
But guess what, just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I can't write about sex.

Sex.

Yes. I said the word. Get over it. Stop putting me in your little box where the "little woman" doesn't know best.

Erotic Romance isn't "Mommy Porn". It's a story that hinges on something far greater than just what positions the characters are in when they're in the bedroom.

Honestly, CBS, you ruined a great opportunity and used a wonderful author to get there. After saying the word PORN over and over again, even blurring out images, and showing that her children don't really respect it, you let that author say one sentence about what romance authors really do.

One sentence that while it was true, did nothing to stop you from calling it "Mommy Porn" for headlines.

The community the media is ignoring is a vast one that is filled with brilliant women--and men--who are being belittled because they don't conform to your attitudes.

This is nothing new but stop patronizing us that you "finally see" us. You're saying we have no value other than doing something on the side of being a "mommy". Sorry, we're better than that.

Question Sunday: You Ask Me

Howdy! This is the first Sunday I’m doing this and I hope to do it more in the future! Ask my anything you’d like in the comments and I’ll come and update the post throughout the day with the answers! So ask away!

Q from Hannah: Are you doing more books past Jackson’s in Holiday, Montana?

A: While I’d love to, I’m not sure I will. I’m pretty settled after Dreams of Ivory in July. The Coopers will have their happy endings and I have many other series for you! I will say NEVER SAY NEVER though because I could totally write novellas that visit those sexy Coopers and maybe even find a new holiday. For now, though, I’m moving on to more Dante’s Circle and more Redwood Pack.

Q: from Dee Little: Which authors of the erotic genre do you like to read?

A: I read many, many authors in most genres. In the erotic one, the ones that come to mind are Lorelei James, Maya Banks, Lauren Dane, and a few others.

Q: from Alex: What about the novella length do you enjoy most?

A: I read and write in novella and full length categories but I like writing and reading some novellas when I just want to show of a short glimpse into my character’s lives.

Q: Do you think you might write an after story about the Redwood Packs children when they are in their 20′s? I’d like to see how they fair, especially Finn.

A: That sounds like it would be interesting.

“What’s going on, Abigail?”“Why do you call me that? Everyone else calls me, Abby.” She bit her lip, and his eyes focused on them for a second. They looked sexy…He blinked, a gray haze coming over his mind.Wait. What had he been thinking about?“Ty? Why do you call be Abigail?”“It’s your name, isn’t it?” And he liked the sound of it on his tongue. That gray haze came back, and he rubbed his temples. What the hell? She shook her head. “Whatever. I’m here to say goodbye actually.”“Goodbye?”“I’m moving, and I thought I’d say goodbye to all the Coopers.” She blinked and looked around as though trying to come up with what to say.“Moving? Why would you do that?”“There’s nothing for me here.”But, what about…He closed his eyes as a headache slammed into him. “What’s wrong, Ty?” Abigail walked toward him, and he took a step back. Hurt crossed her face for a moment, her eyes widening as she bit her lip, but then she managed to mask it.“I’m fine. Just a headache. Uh, I’m sorry to see you go.”Hurt flashed again, and this time, it looked even more painful. Her eyes took on a glassy glaze, almost as if she was about to cry, but she held it back.“I see.” She looked away from his face, and he frowned.
