Ink Reunited – Meet the Characters
When we first started planning Midnight Ink, we wanted to make sure our bundle was a little different. We wanted each book to be set in the same tattoo shop and have characters join in on the fun within each other’s books. In doing that some characters showed up in multiple books. My Shep from Ink Inspired ended up being in 4 other novellas within the bundle. It was glimpses like those that made this such a fun project.
Of course, then there was Sassy. We had all decided before the actually planning started that we wanted one character that showed up in the background. Kind of like an Easter egg that if you spotted her, you got a check mark in the column. Of course, Sassy ended up being so much more.
Sassy is just so….Sassy. I had made up her character and while I was talking to Mari Carr about who she could use to put in her own novella, she thought Sassy would be that lynch pin for the series. So yes, Sassy ended up in each book. She has ink on her arms and back. Sexy chestnut hair with colored streaks that seem to change daily. Bangles on her wrists. Curves that just won’t quit. And an attitude that matches her name. While she was supposed to be in the background, she ended up being Midnight Ink’s own little matchmaker.
Little did we know how much readers loved her.
We should have.
She is The Sassy, after all.
So readers begged for her story and us authors had to figure out how that was going to happen. I ended up with the honor of telling her story. I had already known a little of her past when I made her up, but while we all worked on Midnight Ink, we kept her vague so we wouldn’t make any mistakes and so she wouldn’t take the focus off the main characters in the book.
Ink Reunited was born from the demand from readers, the minds of amazing authors, and the spunk that is Sassy herself. The next step in doing this was finding who could handle a woman such as her. In Sassy’s case, it took two men. Rafe and Ian were a joy to write. They are such opposites of each other yet perfect compliments. While Ian is ice and the edge of a blade, Rafe is heat and fire, ready to burn all those around him in the most decadent way possible.
Rafe and Ian are from Sassy’s past–10 years in fact. They show up at Midnight Ink and want her back. They don’t make demands, they know Sassy better than that, but their presence is a demand in itself. Throughout the book, not only will they all have to learn forgiveness and find a way to heal old wounds, they’ll also have to see if they can love each other…again.
Yes, Ian and Rafe are also a couple in this book. That’s what makes it so explosive. That’s what makes me love this book. Yes, it’s my own book, but I can love it too! I do hope you guys enjoy this book and share links, covers, and other things with your friends. If enough people read and want it, there might be more Sassy in the future. It all depends on how well Ink Reunited does now.
