cure for being stuck
Every author knows this feeling: you're stuck, unsure where to go next. While writing "Mirrors," I experienced this several times. There are many ways to break through creative blocks, but what if your problem is specifically an inability to visualize a place in detail?
I reached a point in my story where I felt like the "imagination score" in my brain had suddenly dropped. So I described to DALL-E the scene I needed, the atmosphere I wanted to create, and the emotions it should evoke. After a few attempts, I received this image and wrote my description based on it.
Someone on Facebook commented that absinthe used to help writers in the past, so I shouldn't worry about supporting my imagination with something considerably less psychoactive. ;)

It was June 2023 when I began writing. Earlier, at AI conference, I'd spoken about no AI winter coming, but an autumn of realism. Two weeks later, ChatGPT—a black swan—flapped its wings.
I write. My near-future novel weaves technology with characters, while real-world progress makes me wonder if I'll publish before obsolescence.
Experts debate: "Just statistics" versus "sparks of AGI." I keep writing, watching for more black swans.
July 2024—final period. Race over? Not yet—editing, layout... Meanwhile, voices worldwide whisper of an AI plateau.
Now it's truly finished. The book is in readers' hands. Their reaction is beyond my control. And black swans fly where they please.
