Cyberwar Signing at Book REvue & Port Jefferson Author Fair May 30

Picture Picture Picture Well the Cyberwar Book Tour 2015 is off to a great start, both with the Cinco De Mayo Launch Event at the Book Revue on May 5 and the upcoming Port Jefferson Library Author Fair on May 30!

The book release reading and signing on the day the book was released at the Book Revue in Huntington (the author's favorite bookstore) was an unparalleled look into the story, as R.J. Huneke read from two passages of Cyberwar that had never been read together in public before.

The patrons filled the seats, met the author, expressed immense enthusiasm after hearing parts of the book to start reading, and then the store nearly sold out of copies! If you are in the Long Island, New York area be sure to check out the Book Revue, the island's richest bookstore, and yes they will have copies of Cyberwar back in stock next week.

For those of you in lower New York looking to meet authors, read their books, and get signed copies, the 1st Annual Port Jefferson Free Library Author Fair is taking place at 2 pm on Saturday May 30, 2015. Head down Port to the small town on the Sound that is featured prevalently in parts of Cyberwar. R.J. Huneke will be there signing copies and reading upon request! There will also be illustrators present and admittance is free for attendees; head to 100 Thompson Street, Port Jefferson NY 11777.

If you have read Cyberwar, or wish to purchase a copy, please chime in on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple. Reviews are greatly appreciated.

For anyone wishing to learn about the craft of writing and editing with style, R.J. Huneke will be giving the second part in a three part seminar series on June 10, 2015 at 7 pm at the Port Jefferson Library.

When hackers seize the world governments everything changed for all of humanity. A new sense of hope arrived in the streets and young people everywhere embraced the new world order. However, what appeared to be a new found freedom soon turned out to be a new tyranny far worse than anything they imagined.

William Waltz formed part of the new elite that guarded the regime, that is, until the regime turned on him.

The research on cyber warfare and political protest, as well as a strong female protagonist set this riveting story apart.

The book will be released to bookstores from Pentian, an imprint of Lantia, on May 5, 2015. Get it in hardcover, paperback and eBook.

WRITE AND EDIT WITH STYLE SEMINAR 101:

A STYLISTIC EXPLORATION OF YOUR CRAFT

With Local Author R.J. Huneke At the Port Jefferson Library On Wednesday May 20, 2015 from 7:00-8:30 pm

Summary:  This is the first in a three part series of educational courses designed to develop vastly different skills for attendees that have interest in genres of writing and editing. Each seminar will allow attendees to examine whichever genre they are most comfortable – whether it is fiction, non-fiction, screenwriting, or poetry – and a methodology for how to write to the strengths of these genres with varying degrees of style. There will be discussions on how to prepare manuscripts for publication. The goal is to open up whole new worlds to writers and editors of all skillsets. Just be ready with your pens, folks!

Session 1 Outline:  First and foremost, the seminar will consist of attendees writing, reading, and editing. This session will be an introductory look into the techniques of writing and editing and how to invoke a sense of style while mastering the crafts. Volunteers will be called on to share their work, at times, and helpful critiquing will take place, as well as an examination of how the writer and/or editor came to some of their stylistic decisions; all critiquing will be done in a positive and constructive manner. Questions for the instructor are encouraged throughout the night. Since editing is an integral part of any writing process, we will explore how to stylistically edit each writing genre in detail and how doing this can add appeal to manuscripts being submitted for publication. Materials from a few published authors and editors will also be provided to attendees for use as a continued resource.

Session 1 Requirements: Please bring a notebook (beat up, beloved, or otherwise) for taking notes in, a writing implement, and separate paper for writing and editing with. It is optional, but encouraged, that each attendee brings a piece of their writing with them to work with.

Recommended Reading:  The following sources will provide a great source of writing and editing knowledge, as well as a good deal of inspiration: On Writing by Stephen King – a semi-autobiographical account of the master giving direct insight into his writing and editing processes (it is also entertaining); The Elements of Style by E.B. White and William Strunk – a straight forward, brief, yet intricately detailed account of all manner of punctuation, grammar, and all of the nuances of the English language boiled down to a tiny pocket-sized volume (this could easily have replaced all of my English textbooks growing up); A Writer’s Reference by Diana Hacker – a much more in-depth and multi-tabbed guide that includes MLA, APA, and Chicago Style writing techniques and is highly recommended for anyone at university; Poets & Writers Magazine is a wealth of writing, editing, and publishing insight.

About the Author:  R.J. Huneke was born in Port Jefferson and has gone on to write hundreds of publications in numerous non-fiction, poetry, and fiction platforms. He is writing and editing regularly for Examiner.com and Gadizmo, and his first novel from a major publisher Cyberwar is being released on May 5, 2015.

The second and third part of the seminar will be held at the same location on June 10 and 24, 2015 at 7 pm.

Signing Books for 1st Goodreads Giveaway of Cyberwar

Picture Dear Eager Readers,

It has been a lifelong dream to have my work taken on by a major publisher, and to be able to sign copies of Cyberwar is a part of that dream's realization for me.

I want to thank everyone who entered the first ever Goodreads Giveaway of Cyberwar, as you are truly Eager Readers who have shown an interest in a story, a story that is so very important to me, long before its release on May 5, 2015.

I hope the winners truly enjoy the book!

Inscribed is a prevailing theme from Cyberwar that will continue throughout the series to reveal the importance of humanity's creation and protection of words, so that worlds can be improved by them... forever.

I would by lying if I said that Orwell and Bradbury were not in my brain, dancing away somewhere, when I wrote this story, but I strove to make something innovative so that the Words Survive, Worlds Change brings a sharper look into something dark and dangerous and beautiful that you have not read before.

You will tell me if I succeeded.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

R.J.H.

P.S. As the moment meant a lot to me, there were pictures taken of this signing before the books went in the mail. I am sorry that you were not here with me in person, but there will be readings and events and social-type things where we can possibly discuss font or penmanship, if you are able in the future.

P.P.S. If you did not win the first time, there is another Giveaway up here:
