That’s why, at the end of the day, you’re going to need a drink. There are bars in the city for every mood and every budget, whether you’re looking for an upscale, hand-crafted and totally original cocktail, a traditional Irish pub atmosphere, or a low-key dive bar with cheap beer. Legendary for its martinis and negronis, Dante West Village, trellised in white roses and decorated with gold, white, and mint green accents, is easily one of the most stylish spaces in New York City. What makes Dante so special is that it accommodates all occasions: A first date dinner, a casual cocktail with friends or a more important night out with your significant other, even an afternoon coffee as you explore the neighborhood. No matter why you’re stopping in, a drink at Dante will immediately elevate your cool factor.

The Dead Rabbit calls itself “the world’s most awarded pub.” The bar focuses on Irish culture, hospitality, and spirits. Located inside a 19th-century townhouse, The Dead Rabbit actually consists of three separate bars – The Taproom, The Parlor, and The Occasional Room. The Taproom focuses on “craic,” the Irish term for good conversation, music, and mischief, while The Parlor hones in on more redefined cocktails. The Occasional Room recreates the traditional Irish pub atmosphere.

There’s no sign outside the door guiding guests inside this low key, warm neighborhood bar. In fact, not much about its romantic, intimate atmosphere points to the fact that in the cocktail world, Attaboy is legendary. Its reputation will become clear once you order: Though there is a cocktail list, guests are encouraged to divulge their preferences to the bartender, who will whip up something totally original – meaning you get a new experience every time you stop in.

While some bars on this list pour experimental, inventive drinks seen nowhere else, The Clover Club in Brooklyn is all about tradition. Here, the 19th century cocktail – sours, juleps, daisies, and royales – reign supreme. But don’t expect stodgy, antiquated recipes here. The goal is to make traditional cocktail styles taste fresh and exciting – with just a touch of nostalgia.

This no fuss, no frills East Village spot resembles a dark cavern (you have to descend a set of stairs to get in) but it has all the trappings of a classic dive bar: Cheap beer, tattered booths, a pool table, dim lighting, and a surly bartender. Despite the absolute bar bones approach to hospitality, the atmosphere here is always lively, and you’re likely to run a few colorful locals at the bar, too.

When most people think of Times Square, tourist traps come to mind, but Jimmy’s Corner stands out. Sure, it’s not polished and squeaky clean like the flashing billboard in the rest of the neighborhood, but that’s part of its charm. The walls are decorated with boxing memorabilia, t The drinks are cheap (try the signature drink, Jimmy’s Hurricane), and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Head here if you’re eager to mix with locals and want to avoid tourists.

Located in Greenpoint, Capri Social Club is easy to walk by and not notice. But with basic chairs and tables and cheap beers and shots, this is the type of place to go if you want to sit alone at the bar and relax, without being bothered. Friendly bartenders add to an atmosphere that is casual but welcoming to everyone – the kind of bar you’ll visit every time you’re in Brooklyn.

Mexico isn’t short on places to adventure, or on places to get good views. But Adventureland Micos, an outdoor adventure park in Huasteca Potosina (in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi) takes both to another level with its unique zip line: the park’s skybike is the longest bicycle zip line in all of Latin America. Until recently, it was the longest in the world.

Adventureland Micos, located in Huasteca Potosina, is a unique outdoor adventure park with plenty to do for high-adrenaline travelers. From zip lining to rappelling, hiking, and canoeing, this scenic getaway has activities for all ages and skill levels. The park boasts stunning panoramas of the Valley of the Huasteca Mountains as well as lush tropical forests, so there’s no shortage of picturesque views.
About the Adventureland Micos skybikeView this post on Instagram
A post shared by Carlos Solis (@carlossolisr)
To really kick your adventure up a notch, the bike zip line at Adventureland Micos is an absolute must-do. This thrilling excursion combines the best of both worlds — biking and zipping along high-up treetops — to create an unforgettable experience. The zip line is 262 feet above the canyon floor and runs for more than 700 feet.
Adventureland Micos provides everything needed for your bike zip line ride. Helmets, harnesses and bike rental are all included in the price of the ticket, and the staff will ensure you’re strictly following all safety procedures. Fortunately, balance skills aren’t required. While you do need to pedal, the bike’s tires and seat are attached to the zipline, so you can’t fall off (especially since you’re also harnessed to the line).

Adventureland Micos is one of several outdoor adventure parks in Huasteca Potosina. There are three other parks, including the Xilitla Adventure Park, which has rope courses, mountain bike tracks, rappelling and more; Adventureland El Naranjo, which focuses on water-based adventures like waterfall jumping, rapelling, and kayaking; and Adventureland Huasca, which is reserved for teambuilding and group adventures. Adventureland Xilitla also has a skybike, but it’s more of a tricycle and is a little more stable and “safe” feeling.
Huasteca Potosina is a region in Mexico, just a few hours drive from the city of San Luis Potosi. It’s easily accessible from nearby cities and states like Monterrey, Queretaro, and Aguascalientes. The nearest airport is located in San Luis Potosi and there are bus companies that provide regular service to Huasteca Potosina.
There are two options for tickets to use the Skybike. The first is to buy the Adventureland Micos Silver Package, which includes the Skybike, the suspension bridge, and the regular ziplines. That package costs 1050 Mexican Pesos, or about $53 US. The second option is to buy the Orange Package, which includes just the ziplines and skybike, but not the suspension bridge. It’s 950 Pesos, or about $47 US.
Bryce Canyon Has the World’s Biggest Collection of Amazing Hoodoos

The American West has no shortge of amazing geological features, like the Grand Canyon and the rock arches of Arches National Park. But one of the most unusual — otherworldly, some might say — formations are the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park. And Bryce Canyon’s hoodoos are everywhere. In fact, it has the highest concentration of them of anywhere on earth.
@matadornetwork #BryceCanyon in #Utah has the largest collection of hoodoos, which is the thin, spire rock formation you see here![]()
@andreabrenna_ #brycecanyonNP #utahadventure #nationalparklover #sunrisetok ♬ My Girl Wukileak – wüki
Bryce Canyon National Park is an incredible and unique landscape, known for the stunning hoodoos. Hoodoos are tall, thin spires of rock contoured by wind and water. Many of the Bryce Canyon hoodoos are in strikingly red and pink hues and line the canyon walls in groups of hundreds while bighorn sheep and other wildlife meander through the sagebrush at the base. The Bryce Canyon hoodoos also feature intricate details like slots, alcoves, pinnacles, and windows.
The hoodoos are result of millions of years of erosion. As water seeps into and out of the sandstone, it creates a type of weathering called hydraulic action. This process gradually wears away at the rocks, forming the iconic spires that have become synonymous with Bryce Canyon National Park. The colors of the surrounding rock are also influenced by this process, as minerals in the rock change colors when exposed to oxygen in the atmosphere.
The best Bryce Canyon hoodoo hikes
Photo: SL-Photography/Shutterstock
Hiking through Bryce Canyon National Park is the best way to see the hoodoos up close. Fortunately, there are plenty of hikes to choose from and most of the trails are very well marked and maintained. The Rim Trail is a super-short walk to look out on the hoodoos from above, or you could opt for the eight-mile Fairyland Loop, named for the ethereal feeling of being surrounded by hundreds of hoodoos at the famous Fairyland Point. The Navajo Loop Trail is also a good pick. It’s one of the most popular and takes visitors on roughly 90-minute loop past some of the park’s most stunning hoodoos and other formations.
The weather in Bryce Canyon can vary greatly depending on the time of year. June through August is generally the warmest time, with high temperatures reaching into the 90s. December through February is pretty cold, and frost and below-freezing temperatures aren’t uncommon. But if you’re just planing to go to the overlooks or not do any extended hikes, it can be way less crowded — and the snow-covered hoodoos are beautiful. Spring and fall are generally the most pleasant times to visit, with moderate temperatures and fewer crowds.
But if you can’t make it to see the Bryce Canyon hoodoos, it’s not the only spot in the world where you can see them. Other parts of the world where you can find hoodoos include Drumheller Valley in Canada, Pinnacles National Park in California, Turkey’s Cappadocia region, and Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park in Madagascar.

Two New Tulum Hotels That Highlight the Best of Luxurious Resort Life

In 2022, Hilton opened two adjacent resorts in the Tulum area, each offering a very different luxury experience. And both are worth putting on your 2023 hotel must visit list. The Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya debuted first, with the Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive following shortly after. Parks Hospitality owns both Tulum resorts.
I visited both properties recently and found them to be different but complimentary, with striking style and architecture, immense public spaces, and excellent food and beverage selections. The beach here is also gorgeous with turquoise water and soft white sand.
The Conrad Tulum: The brand’s first foray into the Mexican Caribbean
Photo: © 2023 Hilton
The playful Conrad Tulum is the brand’s first foray into the Mexican Caribbean market. With a design inspired by Tulum’s jungle-meets-ocean landscape, it’s a luxury property that still has a fun vibe. The entire property looks like it was designed as a social media creator’s playground with so many TikTokable spots.
When I stayed, the clientele were mostly youngish couples or groups of friends. This is the kind of place where DJs spin by the pool on weekend afternoons and four-course full moon dinner parties are thrown on the beach with communal tables.

Photo: © 2023 Hilton
Everything about this property is beautiful and classy. The five swimming pools are perfectly laid out with options for chairs in the water, with water surrounding it, or in a cabana. The spa is a wonderful place to relax. Treatments are inspired by ancient rituals and local elements.

Photo: © 2023 Hilton
The beach here is equally gorgeous and, when I visited, it was void of the seaweed that often plagues this area. Explore the turquoise hued water in a kayak or SUP board or grab a mask, snorkel, and fins to check out the underwater reef with its bright coral and fish accessible from the resort’s beach.
Nearly all the Conrad’s 349 rooms and have boast ocean views. All have private balconies with an outdoor relaxation tub. Even the entry level rooms have impressive bathrooms with spacious showers with windows, double sinks, and luxe amenities. The rooms all feature polished wood furnishings, black stone floors, Nespresso machines, 65-inch HDTVs, and lots of closet space. Suites add more space and have dining space for eight.
An impressive food and beverage program Photo: © 2023 Hilton[/caption]The Conrad has 11 dining venues showcasing flavors from across the globe. This is not an all-inclusive resort, however, so meals and poolside drinks can add up pricewise. But when compared to other area 5-star hotels, I found the prices at the Conrad to be more affordable (you’ll pay $10 to $15 for a cocktail instead of $25, for example).
Autor is the signature Mexican restaurant, and offers a curated tasting experience that reflects the history and heritage of the chef in residence. Ukai serves sustainably sourced sushi and does a great bowl of ramen. While Maratea serves Mediterranean fare that pays tribute to cuisines from Spain to North Africa, Greece to Turkey.

Photo: © 2023 Hilton
My favorite dining experience at the Conrad is at Arbolea. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and does a fabulous buffet spread. There is a station where you pick your fruit to be squeezed into fresh juice, and another dedicated solely to avocado toast. The omelet and quesadilla stations are also heavenly. The bed and breakfast package isn’t cheap, but you’ll be so full afterwards you won’t need lunch.
Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya: A glam all-inclusive luxury resortThe Hilton Tulum All-Inclusive Riviera Maya Resort feels like a glamorous luxury property, yet still delivers an all-inclusive experience. The hotel is Hilton’s first all-inclusive resort to open in this region. In another first for the brand, it offers an “Enclave Level,” which is its version of a club level. Rooms and suites on this floor come with private check-in, a lounge with snacks and beverages, elevated in-room amenities, and a private pool area.
The 735 key hotel shares an oceanfront location with the Conrad, but both hotels feel separate from each other. And even though the Hilton Tulum is Hilton’s largest resort in the Caribbean and Latin America, it still feels personal.
Designed with locally sourced materials to match the natural environment, each guest room comes complete with a private balcony offering either a nature or ocean view. I stayed in one of the 59 suites, all of which have ocean views from generous balconies and large, separate living and dining spaces. The ambiance is fresh and modern with an earthy color palette.
Amenities are Plentiful at the Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya
Photo: © 2023 Hilton
The Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya features plenty of amenities to keep you busy. If you love a good pool, you won’t be disappointed by the selection here. There are nine resort pools, each offering something different – including one reserved just for adults. There is also a well-equipped fitness center with a yoga studio and spin room.

Photo: © 2023 Hilton
A family-friendly hotel, Hilton Tulum also has plenty of amenities geared towards kids. This includes a kids’ club with organized activities from pinata making to pool float races. There’s also a splash-pool, a water park playground, and an indoor playroom. Teens have their own club with a movie room, video games, and ping pong and pool tables.

Photo: © 2023 Hilton
The resort’s multiple dining experiences are also top notch and include five signature restaurants, bars and lounges with an upscale beverage program, a coffee shop and deli, as well as numerous casual poolside offerings. Maxal serves locally sourced, traditional Mexican fare, while La Luce is the Italian restaurant, that does excellent wood fire pizzas. Auma is a classic steakhouse, while Noriku does modern Asian quite well. Enclave guests also have access to Chiringuito Cocomar, which does ceviche and other seafood dishes. There are also bars by the pools, including some swim up options.
For an all-inclusive resort, the quality of the food impressed me — as did the strength of the drinks and the premium liquor available for them.
The Most Beautiful Views in Montenegro Are Tucked Away at This Hilltop Cafe

Horizont Cafe is located about half an hour southeast of Kotor, Montenegro, which was voted one of the best small towns in Europe to visit in 2023, if you’re driving toward Lovćen National Park. The standout feature of the restaurant and bar is its observation deck, which overlooks the Dinaric Alps and UNESCO-recognized Bay of Kotor on the Adriatic Sea. The location is so spectacular, some couples have even visited Horizont Cafe to stage wedding photos there.
Of course, most passersby come to enjoy the views over some food. One of the most popular things to enjoy at Horizont Cafe is a glass of wine or beer paired with local cured meats and cheeses or a platter of Mediterranean produce such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives. Earlier in the day, it’s an excellent place to start the morning with a cup of coffee. (Note that some reviewers have mentioned that only beverages were served during their visits.)
The much-photographed platform that put Horizont Cafe on the map is relatively small, giving patrons the feeling of having the idyllic setting all to themselves, but there are plenty of picnic-style tables cascading down the hillside on a large terraced stone patio. There’s more seating inside the actual restaurant building, along with a telescope set up to admire the views.
Sunrise and sunset are the most coveted hours to visit Horizont Cafe. Just be careful driving there when the lighting is dim — the cafe is located up a series of beautiful yet precarious hairpin turns. Once you see the view at your destination, however, you’ll know it was worth it.

One of the four famous Roman pasta dishes, cacio e pepe is also one of Italy’s oldest pasta dishes, said to have been originated by shepherds who carried simple ingredients that were unlikely to spoil while they were in the mountains. Cacio e pepe has just three ingredients: cheese, pepper, and pasta, plus a generous splash of starchy pasta water to create the creamy sauce diners all over the world know and love today. It’s a dish that’s ubiquitous in Rome, but there’s one restaurant outside of the Italian capital, Lido 84, whose signature dish is a plate of cacio e pepe with a traditional yet dramatic twist— it’s prepared inside of a pig’s bladder.

Lido 84 is a Michelin-starred restaurant right on Lake Garda in northern Italy. It opened its doors in 2017 and quickly became one of the most talked-about restaurants in the area. The restaurant is located on the water and features stunning views of the lake and the surrounding Alps that can be seen from almost every seat in the house.
The star of the show at Lido 84 is the cacio e pepe dish. What makes it unique is how the chef takes rigatoni pasta, aged pecorino cheese, black pepper, salt, and extra virgin olive oil and adds them to a pig’s bladder that’s then filled with air before being cooked in boiling water. Once cooked through, it’s cut open tableside to reveal the creamy cheese and peppery mixture inside.
While there’s an element of showmanship in the restaurant’s use of pig bladders, the concept dates back to ancient times. Ancient Italians would use pig bladders as containers to store food or drink due to their strong outer walls, which could withstand extreme temperatures. While this tradition hasn’t been used much over the years, it has recently gained popularity again as chefs are experimenting with new ways to cook traditional dishes like cacio e pepe.
In Lido 84’s case, the result is a cacio e pepe dish that looks cool and tastes even better — one for the bucket list.

Sea urchin is a popular delicacy in Hawaii. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in the islands, make sure to give this unique seafood a try. Sea urchin is a type of edible marine invertebrate. The edible part of the sea urchin is called the “uni,” which refers to the animal’s gonads. Uni is often described as having a creamy, rich flavor with hints of sweetness.

If you’re looking for fresh sea urchin, your best bet is to head to one of Hawaii’s many seafood markets. At the market, you’ll be able to select live sea urchins that have been caught that day (or you could always just catch them yourself). Make sure to ask the market worker to open the sea urchin so that you can inspect the uni inside. The uni should be bright orange and firm to the touch. Avoid any sea urchins that have brown or mushy uni.
Once you’ve procured your live sea urchins, it’s time to get cooking. The first step is to remove the uni from the shell. This can be done by using a spoon or your fingers. Once the uni has been removed, rinse it under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel. The next step is up to you—you can either eat the uni raw or cook it. If you choose to cook the uni, doing so will change its flavor and texture. One popular way to cook uni is by tempura frying it. To tempura fry uni, simply coat it in a batter made of egg and flour before frying in hot oil until golden brown.
If you’re planning on eating the urchin raw, it’s important to note that the taste can be quite strong and acquired. To make the taste more palatable, some people like to mix the raw urchin flesh with lemon juice or vinegar before eating it. Alternatively, you could cook the urchin flesh by sauteeing it in butter or olive oil.

Nestled in the Bohemian Hills, St. Wenceslas Vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in the Czech Republic. The vineyard was first planted in 1347 by Charles IV, and it’s been producing grapes ever since. The vineyard was founded by Czech King Wenceslas II, who was also a Duke of Luxembourg, and is situated on south-facing slopes at an altitude of 1,800 feet above sea level. The climate is perfect for growing grapes, and the vineyard benefits from long sunny days and cool nights.
A variety of wines are produced there, including red, white, and rose. The most famous wine produced at St. Wenceslas Vineyard is the “St. Wenceslas Cuvee,” which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Noir grapes. This particular wine has won numerous awards and has been praised by critics all over the world.
The most popular wines here are the Muscat Ottonel, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay. The sparkling wine is also very popular and is made using the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle. The vineyard offers tours of its facilities, during which you’ll learn all about the history of the site and the wine-making process.
