A little flash of fiction in the pan…
In the spirit of my recent flash comp I thought I'd post another little flash of my own in the whole 'twisted fairy tale' genre.
Written in response to one of Chuck Wendig's awesome flash prompt comps, it didn't win but I still like it and, one of these days, I'll flesh it out and show the world behind the vignette:
Powder.
'Skin white as snowdrops. Crow-black hair. Blood-red lips.' She recites the litany as she brushes. Stroke after stroke the words fill her, bitter as poison.

Winners of the City of Hell flash comp.
Right, so I had only five entries but they were all just so darned good and were all written so well that I struggled quite hard to choose which ones should win (thank Hades I didn't have tons of entries eh?
). Not to mention I know most of those who entered and felt rotten that I had to pick only two winners and potentially upset or disappoint a friend, that always sucks!

Episode 17: Umwelt: All's Well That… Ends?
Kitty slides back from the infinite pull of the Mother's exit. That pinprick singularity hungry for energy. Half of his essence seeks escape to the void, to the grasping maw of soulless black; the other courts the gravity of flesh, the anchor of energy made physical mass.

Within the pages of this fine tome there are eight terrifying tales. All manner of horror can be found within the pages o...

Anne McCaffrey… legendary awesomeness.
Well, as promised, I bring to you my tribute to the wonderful Anne McCaffrey, who has sadly passed away at 85 years of age. I've read many of her books, but these comprise my top five of an awesome legacy of literature left by this remarkable woman. Without further ado then and in no particular order, here they are.
Restoree – Written as a somewhat sly, tongue-in-cheek reaction to the way female protagonists were treated in SF, this is the story of Sara. A young, beak nosed virgin whose life i...

City of Hell Chronicles – The Door From Below and enter a City of Hell ebook giveaway…
My gore-soaked contribution to the City of Hell Chronicles Vol 1 is entitled 'The Door From Below'. Read on, if you dare, to learn a little bit more about the horrors that await therein:
Jin, Sho and Sadao, together known as C.I.D. (Capitalistic Idiot Dogs) come to Hong Kong from their home in Japan to play a gig at Joe Bananas. They've heard about the bug problems in the US, everyone has. No one's too concerned and, in Hong Kong, the Chinese Government is keen to keep the peace, prevent...
