Umwelt: Darkness Flows Like A River Episode 30: Convergence
Imalia drinks in the black rain, bathes in it, body and soul. Her twin daughters, no longer enraptured by the black rain from cloudless skies, have seen her face and cower beside her feet, whimpering. She laughs at them. What mother does not wish to see fear in a daughter’s eyes? Only a fool.
Imalia, mother, Mother. She has always known there were daughters. Nine daughters once. Only eight now. An even number. So inauspicious. Oh what she would do to have the ninth returned. But the ninth reme...

Umwelt: Darkness Flows Like A River Episode 29: Meridians
Slowly wending a line toward Londinium, weary soldiers press onward in bright sunlight, their boots weighed down with dried mud and caked blood. Sweat drips from foreheads and seeps through the thick cloth of military jackets, but they don’t stop. The first wave to hit the White Ladies is vanquished thanks to the strange visitors in their midst but more come from across the seas and skies, headed for their small island intent on shedding the blood of Great Britannia.
Alongside the wavering lin...

Urban Occult Limited Pre-Order Delights.
Oh gosh, if you’ve been clapping yer peepers on my little page outlining my stories out in the wild, or soon to be unleashed, you might have found those selfsame orbs alighting upon a little creation called ‘Urban Occult’. I am rather proud of this one as I’m alongside some rather belting authors and that, good ladies and gents, is not a regular happenstance. No indeed. I’m hoping it might become one, but as we are denied glimpses of the future I’m just going to have to milk this one for all...

Umwelt: Darkness Flows Like A River Episode 28: Darkness Falls
Their footsteps on the stairs ringing like bells, Imalia and her daughters scale the inner staircase of the tower. Imalia’s veil whips behind her, a purple cloud. Her excitement fills the narrow space, her impatience bites at it with hungry teeth.
‘Hurry,’ she says, barely out of breath despite the speed of her ascent, the weight of her skirts, the clutch of her corset on tender lungs. ‘Hurry, girls. It grows near. So very soon it will be strong enough to come to us. It needs our help.’
Her dau...

Umwelt: Darkness Flows Like A River Episode 27: Unclean Vessels
Lost. This one word has become the sum of all his thoughts. Vespesian despises it. Despises the Libraryrinth with equal ferocity, maze that is it, foul conundrum, just an unplace beneath an atrocity nested like a Cuckoo’s egg in the Veils. And, much like the changeling child world above, this wretched compilation of the unplaced and unplace-able has no right to existence, let alone the cunning, half-malevolent sentience that allows it to lead him to this loathsome state. Lost.
‘Show me the Lib...

Umwelt: Darkness Flows Like A River Episode 26: War Cries
Bodies like machines stutter, turn, twist and, in falling, collapse to pieces under the hefted might of blades both steel and AM. But for the thud of attack to flesh and bone, the gasp of breath, the grunt of effort, there is no sound. It is a silent battle, heaving beneath a looming sky, bereft of colour. Beneath it, the ground drowns with blood, mixed to thick paste by sand and dirt, a filthy remnant, nothing more.
Opposing forces clash in violent bursts as though ground has become sky and r...
