Six Sunday #22
Welcome to the next installment of my short story, Escape. If you’re new here, read from the beginning here. Escape is set in the same world as my latest release, Trust in Me.
He didn’t know why he was gruff with her. Sure, he didn’t want people bugging him, but she didn’t count. She could bother him any way she wanted and he would deserve it. The scary part, the part that made him scowl , was that he’d probably enjoy it anyway.
“I thought maybe we could visit.” She bit her lip and her eyes flicked over to the leaning-sideways shanty that he now called home.

This Tiffany was solemn, beautiful, and coming toward him. He’d hoped never to see her again, but he couldn’t deny the lick of pleasure at the sight of her—strong and healthy. Maybe that was worst part, the things she stirred in him, dark and carnal.
“Are you going to use that, mister?” she asked.
He glanced at his hand, where he’d pointed the gun at the ground. “What the hell are you doing here?”

He didn’t anticipate trouble out here at his log cabin, but anyone who invaded his privacy was unwelcome. The green sedan—a rental—rolled to a halt. The door opened, and a woman stepped out. Alex blinked and wiped his eyes again, sure that the sweat and exertion had driven him to hallucinations.
She wasn’t bloody or dirty the way he’d found her. Nor was she delirious and sweaty, caught in a nightmarish haze when he’d sat beside her hospital bed those many weeks.

Welcome to the Summer Nights Bloghop!
Hey there, sexy ladies and gents!
This bloghop celebrates the beginning of summer in preparation for those steamy summer nights. When we’re feeling languid and sweaty and, well, horny, there’s no better activity than… reading erotica. Okay, there are better activities but we must have things to do to fill the in-between!
There are over 100 erotica authors and kinky bloggers participating in this hop, all with hot posts and fun giveaways, so be sure to visit and comment on each one.
Today I’m going to talk about beach as a setting for erotica, like in my book, Trust in Me. Trust in Me is dark erotica, which for me means it’s one part erotic romance, one part thriller, and one part psychological mindfuck. A few people have even called it erotic horror, but I’m not so sure about that. And yes, part of it does take place on a beach. It’s kind of a suspenseful time of the book… you might even say it’s the climax
I think most erotic romances show the couple having sex on the beach. But seriously, have you ever tried sex on a beach? Sand and chafing and crabs. Now, that’s a horror show But I’m breaking my own rule in Trust in Me’s sequel, Hear Me. Well, most of it is set on a beach, so sex on the beach is kind of inevitable. Take a look at the book trailer:
Be sure to pick up Trust in Me which comes before it, so you can be up to speed when Hear Me drops this summer:

Sweetest Mistress – New and Improved and LONGER
Sweetest Mistress is my little BDSM novella that somehow does well enough with reviewers but not so great with sales. This has led me to make some changes to the blurb and the cover. In addition, I wrote a 5K continuation.
So the original story was around 16K which I find is an awkward length to price so I left it at $0.99 all this time. And many reviewers loved it but wanted more, so now with the Part II added the novella is 21K words. I’m also thinking about giving away the 5K continuation (which also stands alone) on my website as a freebie and/or incentive to sign up for my newsletter. Thoughts?
Women wouldn’t be interested in his kinky fantasies, but Wyle doesn’t want to be alone. And though Melissa is too beautiful for him, and too young, she doesn’t seem to mind that he’s a boring financial professional past his prime. Instead she invites him in for a cup of coffee that turns into more.
In a weak moment of honesty, Wyle divulges his deepest desires. He doesn’t want to possess Melissa, he wants to worship her. Together they explore with a hot spanking, scorching phone sex call, and a humiliating anal play session, but the true test of his limits comes in a form neither of them expect.
I’m planning on upping the price to $1.99 soon, so if you may want to consider loading it onto your Kindle and saving a buck. I’d just do the price change now but the book is participating in a group sale, Book Lovers Buffet where all the books are $0.99 until June 22nd. It’s got some great erotica picks, like these:
Speaking of group sales, I have a post up on Dirty Birdies: Megapost of Cheap and Free Author Marketing. It’s long – LONG! – and I’ve actually tried everything in there, so if you’re an author, you may want to take a look. In it, I discuss the Book Lovers group sale and lots of other ideas, including my upcoming Hot Summer Nights Bloghop.
Regarding the bloghop, if you’re already signed up, you should have recieved the email with instructions and already have your post ready to go. If you’re interested in joining the hop, we can fit you in just under the wire, but hurry and sign up right now!
Thanks all!

Even though he’d been too late to protect her, Tiffany had found a way to escape. It should have been a happy ending. Certainly her family had cried happy tears and given him hugs, proclaiming him a hero. They didn’t know what he had done, and he hadn’t the courage to tell them.
The crunch of tires on gravel warned him of an intruder. He wiped his sweaty palms on his shirt and grabbed his gun from the table on his way out front.

Her family had called in the missing persons report three weeks ago, frantic that their daughter, a grad student at NYU, hadn’t called them since she’d landed in Cabo. It was supposed to be a vacation, a payoff for the years of grueling studies. One last hurrah before she officially entered the working world.
He had done everything in his power, some of it questionable in its legality, to track her down and get her out, but none of it could assuage his guilt. He had used her, desperate to find the compound where the women were being held. Well, he’d found it all right.

Naïve bastard that he’d been, Alex hadn’t been discouraged when he’d found her bruised and broken body at that hellhole. At least she was alive, he told himself. She would heal; he would make sure of it. Maybe that would help atone for what she’d gone through. Maybe if he helped her, it would begin to undo the damage.
Only fair, considering it was his fault she’d been abducted.

There was no amount of pain he could inflict on himself that would equal what those women had gone through. Even if he tried, none of it would help them.
Nothing would help them. He’d seen that himself when he’d sat helplessly at Tiffany Scott’s bedside for weeks. Even under heavy sedation she’d screamed and thrashed from the pain or the nightmares. He hadn’t been able to do anything for her but badger and bully the doctor for higher doses until the man had threatened to have his visitation rights removed.

Excerpt:
“What is your name, boy?” The rich words rolled over Sebastian like a caress, but he knew that was a lie.
His mind would not break. Whatever they did, they did to his body. He said nothing.
Long, cultured fingers toyed with the torn hem of his shirt. The old, dirty fabric looked particularly dingy between the thick fingers that were obviously well-groomed. This man had access to water. He had soap. All Sebastian had ever had was a brown river in which all manner of organic and inorganic material floated.
“Sebastian.” The man’s breath blew across the top of his downturned head. Of course it had been a trick. The Ke’lan already knew his name. They knew everything about him. Maybe they even knew that he had no information to give and were just toying with him, although he doubted they’d waste their time that way.
“Sebastian,” he repeated softly, his deep baritone almost melodious, as if the syllables rolled from his tongue. “I am not your enemy. I want to help you.”
Sebastian watched the manicured finger dip under the gaping neckline and touch his bruised ribs, soft enough not to hurt them.
“You’ve been hurt. Come, let me help. Tell me what we need to know, and I’ll take you down from there.”
His shoulders shook, as if the mere thought of release prompted them to hope. Sebastian tried to block out the man’s words, knowing them to be false. He had nothing to tell, and even if he did, they would only kill him after. Freedom was a mirage.
That finger skimmed over his chest, so lightly it really shouldn’t have sent sparks of heat into his body, then higher up his neck. They rested at his pulse, like a warning. His veins bulged against even that tiny bit of pressure. Animalistic panic clawed at his insides, ratcheting his heartbeat faster and giving himself away.
The pointed touch turned into a caress that slipped along his jaw, and soft pressure tilted his head up. Sebastian forced himself not to betray his surprise as he looked up into the face of the most intimidating man he’d ever seen.
He’d expected a ruddy-faced ogre with jowls, spouting threats of pain. Instead this man had icy blue eyes, an aristocratic nose, and lips that Sebastian could only call sensual. Unlike the Generals with pasty skin and dandy hair, this man was darkly tanned with the shaved head favored by soldiers in the field.
A warrior.
