inechi:

I made a new zine! Ascensión Horizontal is a collection of ink drawings about wilderness and its power of destruction and creation. Each cover is coloured by hand with crayons, pencils and markers, many come in neon and metallic colours.

I’ve only got like 10 left of these. If you want one, today is your last chance to get it because tomorrow I’m putting them off my webshop and taking them to Chicago for CAKE!! Also remember that throughout May if you order a zine from me you get this other zine for free!

Evolution of The Artist with Anya Davidson, Lizz...

cakechicago:

Evolution of The Artist with Anya Davidson, Lizz Hickey, and Inés Estrada, Moderated by Max Morris

In a time of online social media and new methods of self-publishing, the role of the cartoonist has changed shapes and intentions from previous forms. In this panel, CAKE organizer Max Morris asks three Special Guests from the new generation of cartoonists what started them on the path of comics, and where that road is leading them. Inés Estrada is the editor of the comics section of Vice Mexico, manages the Gatosaurio webstore, but she has also worked with publications such as Kuš (Latvia), The Believer (US) and Ediciones Valientes (Spain.) Anya Davidson has published innumerable self-published books, and in 2013 her first graphic novel, School Spirits was published by Picturebox Inc. Lizz Hickey exists as a cartooning force to be reckoned with, with her book Jammers (Hic and Hoc) existing alongside a bevy of side-splitting-mind-melting self-published work.

This panel will take place on May 31st at 1:30pm, at the Hoover-Leppen Theatre. To join the FB event, head here!

This panel and Anya Davidson’s appearance at CAKE are sponsored by Print Ninja

sooo this is going to be a thing… haha a wild thing… dont miss it !!!

CAKE DEBUT: Traducciones by Inés Estrada
A story...

cakechicago:

CAKE DEBUT: Traducciones by Inés Estrada

A story tangled in symbols about a translator who works from home and her experiences with long distance romance, sex, interpretations, friends and having fun in this pointless void we call living.

Published by Ediciones Valientes

Inés Estrada is a cartoonist and sort of a nomad. She is the editor of the comics section of Vice Mexico and she also manages Gatosaurio, a webshop where you can find her stickers and comics. Most of her work is self-published, but she has also worked with publications such as Kuš (Latvia), The Believer (US) and Ediciones Valientes (Spain.) She has inhaled inhuman amounts of car smog biking through her home town of Mexico City, which has surely damaged her brain into seeing the psychedelic colors and shapes you can find in her work.

Inés is a special guest of the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo!

Visit Inés’ website, and pick up Traducciones at Table 71 May 31st & June 1st!

cake cake cakce cake woooo!!! …..and if you’re not going (boooo) remember that you can also get this comic thru my webshop ; )
