Merry Little Christmas

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas with Tilda’s new Autumn Winter 2025 collection!

Merry Little Christmas is a soft, nostalgic Christmas collection with a sweet,  vintage feel. Some of you might also see the Nordic inspiration especially influenced by Tone’s Danish grandmother’s way of creating Christmas, which has inspired many a Tilda Christmas throughout the years.

Cozy Reds, Duck Egg Blues, Creams and Greens come together to create the perfect festive palette. Motifs and Christmas characters from Tilda’s history inspired by vintage seasonal décor, have gathered in the fun Winter Friends design, perfect for Christmas ornaments.

The Paper Scenes design is influenced by old seasonal papercut art, which will make lovely centrepieces for Christmas patchworks.

Charming quilts and pillows in keeping with the season, as well as a Christmas Calendar and large Christmas Stockings will help you create a cozy festive home.

Wallflower Collection

Wallflower is an ornamental collection loosely inspired by, and my somewhat romantic take on design styles popular in the 1960s and 70s. The name Wallflower takes me back to dancing school, at a time of my life where I was taller than all the boys and therefore doomed to be a wallflower. The ballroom had a distinctive 1970s floral wallpaper that I tried my best to disappear into, much like the shy girl in the Wallflower fabric design.

Given the state of the world at the time this collection was designed and the inspiration behind the fabrics, it seemed fitting to promote some good thoughts through the naive but heartfelt Peace and Love quilts. The era also inspired the cute Campervan quilt designs where buttons are used as decoration on the wheels, and, of course, a whimsical flower quilt is a must.

The collection has two distinctive color stories. One is sweet and fresh with vintage reds, greens and pinks with hints of blue and sour yellow. The other is more of a nod to the 1960s and 70s, with caramel, blue, ginger, ochre and thistle tones.
All the quilt designs are presented in the two different colorways with matching pillows and are released with the collection as free patterns.

And this time, all patterns are released in four languages! English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

We arrived home to the Norwegian winter with fond memories of our visit to Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. Australia is a paradise! Thank you Two Green Zebras, Chris and Fiona, and the whole gang of wonderful people who made The Tilda Tour happen, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you to all the retailers that participated. Seeing all the work you had done to prepare for the events was fantastic, especially all the beautiful projects. And thank you to everyone who visited, some of you traveled far. It was wonderful to meet you all! Also, thanks to our friends Kathy and John and Jen and Richard for taking such good care of us.  Warm regardsTone

Tilda 1999 – 2024!

Oh, how time flies when you’re having fun!

This year, Tilda turns 25 and to celebrate the occasion we have gathered festive fabric designs from different collections over the years to create the colorful Jubilee collection. Perfect for birthday and jubilee celebrations with reds and blues accompanied by teals, yellows and pinks.

The imaginative Circus Life design from 2017 has been redesigned in a Jubilee edition, and is matched up with a selection of designs with a similar hand-drawn look going back to 2016. For the blenders we have chosen colorful versions of Farm Flowers from the 2020 collection Tiny Farm/Maple Farm.

The Jubilee collection projects also play on the birthday and celebratory theme. The Birthday quilt could be a sweet gift for a christening, or birthday present for a child. The delightful My Birthdayparty quilts and pillows make playful additions to a cool children’s room. And the simpler Bunting quilts and Lollyflower pillows are great for jubilees, Fourth of July celebrations or 17 May (Norway’s constitution day) picnics. Elephants are one of my favorite animals. Although I prefer to see them free and wild in real life they make such a lovely motif with the other Tilda friends. You can find the softie animals in the catalogue under free patterns – Tilda Friends.

The Autumn & Winter collection 2023

Sleeping animals and nature motives is the theme for this year’s autumn and winter collection, Hibernation.
The designs are inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement with lighter elements on a dark background and a layered look, perfect for autumn and winter projects. Dusty colors such as nutty browns, hibiscus reds, blues and sage give the collection a timeless, vintage look.

Get ready for your own Hibernation feeling, safe and warm under lush quilts with motives from the Slumbermouse, Sleepybird and Squireldreams fabrics. The simple Hibernation blenders with eucalyptus and olive branches perfectly compliment the main collection, with some making great backgrounds.

This season’s projects take you from autumn through winter and Christmas.

Welcome to Bloomsville!

Bloomsville is an explosion of bright colors and flowers in bloom, perfect for summer projects. The feature design Garden Vista is inspired by old chinoiseries and a sweet motif found on a vase from a factory that closed in the 1960s. Ideal for small decorative pillows, bags and fun details in a quilt. The bold flower motif of Late Bloomer takes inspiration from Indian chintz with large imaginative flowers that are easy to cut into, making the pattern work well for both large and small pieces.

The Abloom blenders, which are certainly bolder than a typical blender, are a new favorite. They work just as well for a tablecloth as
tiny patchwork tesserae. I find them versatile and fun to work with.

With Bloomsville, I have challenged myself with color, and it has been a joyful adventure. Vibrant colors are what bring the patterns of Bloomsville together, creating a bold and fresh summer collection.

Have a creative spring and summer!

Putting Down Roots Pillows

These two pillows are perfect companions to the Putting Down Roots Quilt. We have made two of them – one with a solid peacock background, like the quilt, and the other in country red. The pillows use two of the small flower blocks from the quilt and only need small amounts of fabrics for the appliqué.

Finished Size
21in (53.3cm) square

Putting Down Roots Quilt

This truly lovely quilt will always draw attention and is sure to become a treasured heirloom. It will take time to make but you will be thrilled with the result. The design is made up of two different appliqué blocks – a large flower and a small flower, each in three different colourways. The method used is turned-edge appliqué, with the motifs are sewn to a Solid peacock-coloured background.

Finished Size
60½in x 80½in (153.7cm x 204.5cm)

Chic Escape has arrived at Lalande!

Inspiration can be found in everything from a small heirloom to a memory, a feeling, experiences or people you meet along the way.
The inspiration for Chic Escape came from watching brave souls renovating derelict French chateaux on YouTube, but there has been no hiding that especially one chateau inspired this collection.
Chateau de Lalande with its charming owner Stephanie Jarvis and her wonderful family and volunteers their humor, kindness and way of life is my perfect escape. I could not help but drawing peacocks, pottery and lots of flowers.

Of course, we had to send the collection and tell the story. We are so glad it was well received. Watch as Chic Escape arrives at Lalande!

When following a Chateau on YouTube you are also supporting their efforts, so please share The Chateau Diaries with friends and family.

Chic Escape!

Our escape during lockdown, a rather chic escape I might add, was following all the charming people that have left their old lives behind to restore derelict French chateaus, on YouTube.
Starting their days knee deep in mud because of a leak and ending it with a cocktail party. Spending an uncommon amount of time in their dressing gowns often paired with wellies (I suppose their dressingrooms are just too far away) and flanked by a peacock while tackling obstacles like a bathtub falling through the floor. Trips to local flea markets (brocants), always on the lookout for vintage pottery, fabric and furniture to bring these vast buildings to life.

Chic Escape is inspired by brave people saving and bringing life and laughter back to old forgotten homes, and all our shared interests in vintage fabric, pottery and flowers.
A very special thanks to the wonderful people at Chateau de la Lande for all the joy and inspiration.

If you are looking for a Chic Escape that will put a smile on your face several days a week we highly recommend following The Chateau Diaries.

Hope you enjoy the collection!
