Keeping Warm in The Middle of Winter 1.18.12

So, in the middle of watching the movie Piranha (not in 3D,
unfortunately), I started to get wistful for the summer months and warm
weather. I suppose that's probably a weird reaction to watching people being
eaten alive by flesh-eating fish, but since I'm pretty sure prehistoric piranhas
don't really exist, I was able to still feel a little jealous for those in
bathing suits that hadn't fallen victim to the scourge yet.

With winter in full swing for plenty of places in...

Secrets to Summer Savings Ebook

I have been asked approximately one million times how one goes about saving any money on their summer vacations and how not to have to take out a second mortgage on your home to pay for it all. Well, I'm coming to your rescue with an ebook on summer saving secrets. Anything that can possibly help you save a buck (or hopefully much more) will be in this thing. You'll be able to download it as a PDF for the low, low price of $2.99 in the coming months. (Shooting for a March release.) It's a...

Get Your Food To-Go

You know how I like to use products that are eco-friendly
and convenient. Well, over the holidays we came across a fun product by To-Go Ware. It's a reusable bamboo utensil
set that comes with a fork, spoon, knife and chopsticks. Fun, right? Even more
fun is the tagline: Reduce Your Forkprint.
The utensils are made of sustainable bamboo, which are stain-resistant, doesn't
absorb flavors (so you can eat spicy shrimp with them and then have chocolate
cake without any shrimpy aftertaste...

Live and Learn: Nassau 1.7.12

The Bahamas always sound so glamorous, don't they?
Attractive people lying on the beach sipping on beers and drinks with umbrellas
in it. Well, it's not all fun and games in paradise, even when you're on
Paradise Island. Fortunately, not too
many things went wrong on our Bahamas trip, but maybe that's because we are so
used to things going abnormally, so
when things go a bit sideways, it doesn't even phase us. Who knows? At least
we're laid back and are able to roll with the punches.

Fit For Travelling 1.4.12

On the heels of the holidays and trying to get back in to my
normal eating routine and finding time to restart regularly exercising. As much
as the thought of exercising makes me want to grab a piece of cheesecake and
curl up on the couch with the dog, I know it's in my best interest to see it
through. Somehow, I always come back from vacation with the best intentions to exercise
more and walk everywhere, like I do while I'm sightseeing, but then come home
and totally fall back into my...

3-1-1 Approved Kissable Rosy Lips

I am addicted to lip balm, and not just any lip balm. I happen to only carry around Alba Botanicals SUN lip balm made with soy instead of beeswax. Inconveniently, I can only find it at one natural store around here and if they are sold out, have to purchase a bunch online (you know, to make it worth the shipping). I have lip balm everywhere. In my purse, in my toiletry bag, in my office drawer, in my medicine cabinet. It is hard for me to branch out and find a lip color that I can stand up...

Happy New Year 2012!

After an eventful and pretty awesome year, my friends put together a very unique New Year's Eve party. Because others have late parties to go to, or have kids to put to bed early, they came up with the Countdown to 12(pm) bash. We counted down and greeted the new year at noon and toasted the new year with sparkling cider at the same time as folks in Moscow and other cities in that time zone.

Happy New Year!

So, what else was on the menu? How do pancake pies sound? Amazing...

Getting Your Daily Five 12.31.11

We're talking fruits and veggies people! With the holidays
winding down, I've realized that everything I've been eating this past week has
not been the healthiest. As I had
just ordered a fajita quesadilla at a local Mexican restaurant, I started
thinking about getting back on track with my nutrition. This is the same
problem I always have on vacation, even right now when I'm not actually
traveling anywhere. I'm sure I can't be the only one, since the number one resolution
is to eat...
