What to do when you’re paralyzed by options

I’ve pretty much reset my life to zero by moving into my mom’s basement this summer, which means I can launch anywhere in the fall. But, how do I decide which direction to take when I can go virtually ANYWHERE next? I’m on the verge of My Next Big Thing, and I don’t want it to fall flat for lack of direction.

To help me on my journey, I’ve recently completed the first chapter ofNot Yer Mom’s Guide to Finding Your Career and Life Path!by The Unlost blogger ThereseSchwenkler. The coolest part ab...

I think I’ve figured out what to do with my life.

Next.

I think I’ve figured out what to do NEXT with my life.

I think I just had an “aha! moment”. Family and friends, I’ll see you Monday. I’m going to be brainstorming for the next two days.

I’ve been mulling through a few ideas for new products and projects to work on, and the problem I keep running into is that I have such scattered interests that it’s tricky to know how to fit them together. Should I focu...

To Meet Your Goals, Surround Yourself with Go-Getters

From Dana: This is a guest post by Alexis Grant, originally published at her blog The Traveling Writer . Alexis is an entrepreneurial writer, digital strategist and author of How I Surpassed My Day Job Income in Just 6 Months of Self-Employment. The prompts are almost like a job interview for yourself. Read through the...

Welcoming a new baby — Happy One Week to the Little Bean

Baby, Dana Sitar, newborn, Little BeanWhat we’ve been waiting for since October is finally a reality — my sister’s first baby was born one week ago today. So long just a mystery beneath my little sister’s growing “bump”, and occasionally a foggy image that more resembled a bean than a baby, she is now a real little person with a little bit of a personality, an attitude, and desires (however basic). It’s pretty weird. In my mind, I had skipped from pregnancy to playing with a five-year-old, so I wasn’t prepared to be so interested...

The conclusion of our conversation with Kyle Kinane, in which I jam in my last few questions and workshop my interview on the comics.

DS: What’s your favorite club in the country?

KK: Laughing Skull was a lot of fun last weekend. Cap City in Austin — it’s half Austin hipsters and half shit-kickin Texans, all there to have a good time. Acme in Minneapolis…

DS: What about them?

KK: They’ve done well. They know h...

Punk Rock Comedy – A Conversation with Kyle Kinane (part 1)

This interview is part of The Comic Project.

Kyle Kinane, Interview, Comedy, Los Angeles, ComedianStefan and I sat down withKyle Kinane last spring to get the comic’s take on the business. The Chicago native has made his bones in the industry without compromising his dedication to the art, or his infamous punk-rock attitude. We talked for more than an hour over $1 PBRs and Mexican sausage in San Francisco’s Mission, so check back tomorrow and Wednesday to catch the whole conversation!

Kyle Kinane: This is for good, not evil, right?

Dana Sitar: Yes...
