Her clothes screamed wealth while her polished fingernails, glossy mouth and impossibly high stiletto heels promised a wild hunger that could not be tamed; this was a woman who was never left unsatisfied.

I blushed. “I don’t…”

“You’re just meeting and greeting. Bring them into the executive suite then wait outside. You can do that, can’t you?”

I gulped and my eyelids felt heavy. I nodded mechanically. I could do that, yes, but I could do so much more if she let me.

“Get yourself something to eat and come back at seven.”

“What should I wear?”

She glared at me and I felt my body tighten under the weight of her stare.

She shook her head. “That, nothing, who gives a shit? You’ll be wearing a robe over the top of it anyway and they aren’t here for you…”

They would be here for her. I understood. I had known since a week after I started how Robin earned her living. If the furtive voices at the other end of the telephone line hadn’t been evidence enough I had peeked into the executive suite once before. She had left the door ajar, probably thinking she was alone in the office and I couldn’t resist. What I had seen still made me shiver. It wasn’t simply terrifying, it was the promise of something greater, something so potent that it would raise a person out of their humdrum life and transform them, although into what I wasn’t quite sure.

“Seven,” I repeated, nodding.

“Well hurry up then,” she growled.

I grabbed my handbag and scurried away.

Who is Carmilla Voiez ?

Carmilla Voiez is a new voice in the world of horror. While imagery harks back to the writings of Clive Barker and H P Lovecraft, her voice is uniquely female. The turning pages event post breakdown and interview links

Hi all

Well to say the last three weeks have been acting packed to the fullest to say the very least .

First off I must to a shout out to the amazing people behind the Turning of the Pages event in Orlando , it’s was a great day and i got to met up with some amazing ladies – so I feel like not only was a great day to meet you guys but I also feel so glad to have made some new life long friends as well that day .

After the event I did make a long over due holiday for the rest of my time in the states , I stayed in the Orlando area for three extra days and yes I got to try the butter beer in Harry potter world at universal studios in Orlando – it was a sweet kinda of an use slush but not sickly – I would have gone but for a second but by that point in the day the heat was getting to much for this wee Scottish lass !

I then traveled onto Washington DC where I had planned to visit lots of museum during my 4 days stay there but sadly within mere moments of checking into my hotel and dragging my suitcase behind I fall and badly jarred my knee , which upset an old knee injury of mine , so for the first two days in DC I was not out of my hotel room as all , mind you the weather was tipping it down with rain – so if there were ever two days to be injured I’m sure glad it was those two . Third in DC armed with a new knee brace , I got a taxi to a local bookstore that had a cafe called Afterwords attached to it that I had heard about and was dying to check out – if your ever in the area you have to try their crab cake egg Benedict and their red velvet cake with your coffee afterwards. Needless to say an author in a bookstore or near a bookstore – I just had to buy a book – despite getting so many new ones at the event lol ! I’m on of these people that I can honestly never have enough books.

Once my time in DC was over I was back to Orlando for the rest of my trip and back into Disney world – bad knee or not NOTHING was going to stop me for enjoying myself there so each day I rented an elec scooter cause I was no way but to normal at that stage ! I did a fair bit of shopping to take some bits back to friends back home of Disney stuff

Once I got back to the uk I can honestly say I slept the first fifteen hours after being awake for the thirty six hours I think maybe I needed it . Yet Jeg lag seemed keen to knock me off my feet for the next seven days as well – not fun ! To make matter worse just an the DC knee injury was finally settling down – I re fall and badly damaged it yet again so this author is currently on lock down by docter’s orders for the next week to rest it before getting further treatment on it ! Oh these things in life are sent to try us ! I’m a great believer is looking at the positives in life , so going to event , meeting new friends, traveling to some of my fave places to relax and re change my spirit , only to come home with a fresh pair of eyes ,It’s hard to be blue when you have all these great things coming into your life ( knee injuries aside of cousre)

Finally catching my breath

Well Hello Everyone 

The last two month for me have been purely HECTIC lol 

Towards the end of February , i saw the perfect apartment in amazing location in beautiful Perthshire countryside area for myself and chase , saw it , put an offer in on it ( all of which happened within the space of two days)  got it, signed all the legal stuff within the space of a week . Then i started the moving in process just a week and half later . It was the a rush to get all my old stuff out of storage from my last apartment . So between ordering new furniture , waiting in on it being delivered and trying to track down other bits and bobs for the apartment , I’ve spent far more time then i would like travelling back and forth on the road between Aberdeen( my hometown) and my new location so that’s eaten alot of time in my days , to get much newer writing done ( which has been frustrating) 

While am not fully settled yet and there still a few bigger projects to be sorted out within my new home , i wake up every morning smiling and fully very blessed . Chase for the most part has settled in so well, yet there is no doubt in my mind that he is missed my mother feline companions , which if you follow my pages on Facebook and twitter, you’ll have seen the photos of his best friend( a bi colour Persian red and white cat that going by the name of Amber) and chase sitting next to each by the fire.  

During my free time ( which has been limited ) the last two months , i been running down my check list of all the books, swag and promo items that will be coming with me to new weekend event for the Turning the pages event and Book Awards in Orlando , I will have some items that you can only get from my cafepress – Magick Weaved store with me on the day as well at for a heavy discounted prices on a  one day only prices for the event, as well as 50 copies of  Magick Weaved in paperback with me as well, which i would be delighted to sign for anyone if they wished – or if you have your own copy bring it along on the day and i will sign it for you :)

Finally i also  have some Amazing Handmade swag with me as well for this event only – this is totally a limited batch of bottle book cover charms – that you will not find anywhere else .  ( see photo in this post )

So if you can come along on the day – please do it would be great to meet as many of you guys as I could while am stateside . 

I plan to take my laptop with me while am away , so in my chase free downtime – i can get back to my writing projects that have had to be on ice the last two months . My mind is filled with great new ideas that am itching to bash out on this laptop asap as well . 

I will post so photos here after the event if i can while am away if not then i will do it the day i get back into the UK.

Turning The Pages Book Signing And Awards!

The Book Signing and Awards Ceremony will be held at: 


The Florida Hotel and Conference Center

1500 Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32809

Turning The Pages Book of The Year Awards Ceremony will follow an open to the public book signing event.

The book signing will be from 10 am until 3 pm. This will include a break between 12-1 for lunch. The book signing is open to the public and all are welcome to come see, meet, greet, and get autographs from the authors. Readers do have the option to buy a lunch ticket ($50). Otherwise lunch is for attending authors only.

The Book Of The Year Awards Ceremony is a ticket only event that will start at 7 pm. You must have bought a ticket to get into the ceremony. Dinner will be provided. Also winners of The Book Of The Year event will be awarded with certificates and medals.
