MMGM Links (11/7/16)
Whew--just survived a crazy, awesome, hectic, exhausting, amazing launch week for LODESTAR.
HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT THE BOOK OR READ THE BOOK OR TALKED ABOUT THE BOOK OR CAME TO ANY OF MY EVENTS TO HEAR ME RAMBLE AWKWARDLY ABOUT THE BOOK!!!!!
I'm definitely not done touring--I still have TONS of events coming up this month, so make sure you check my events page HERE to make sure you don't miss out.
Also, TREMENDOUS thanks for being respectful about spoilers. My tour/travel days have been so insanely over-scheduled that I haven't had a chance to check any of the comments you guys are posting, so please keep on making sure my social media feeds--and this website--stay spoiler free.
ALSO, also, I got to come home for the last two days, and I used the time to prep all the pre-order swag packs. They're going in the mail TODAY, so if you filled out the form to take advantage of the giveaway, keep an eye on your mailbox. Your goodies are heading your way.
And if you missed the pre-order giveaway--and none of my upcoming tour stops are near you--don't forget, there's still one more way to get the swaggish goodies. The special arrangement I made with Changing Hands for you to get a slightly cooler swag pack along with a signed (and personalized if you want it) copy of LODESTAR is still going--and doesn't end until 11/16. Go HERE for more details.
Okay, onto MMGM!
If you would like to join in the MMGM fun, all you have to do is blog about a middle grade book you love on a Monday (contests, author interviews and whatnot also count--but are most definitely not required) and email me the title of the book you're featuring and a link to your blog at SWMessenger (at) hotmail (dot) com. (Make sure you put MMGM or Marvelous Middle Grade Monday in the subject line so it gets sorted accurately--and please don't forget to say what book you're featuring) You MUST email me your link by Sunday evening in order to be included in the list of links for the coming Monday. (usually before 11pm PST is safe--but if I'm traveling it can vary. When in doubt, send early!) (Also make sure the post you send me is a new post, not one from earlier in the week. I try to keep the content fresh)
If you miss the cutoff, you are welcome to add your link in the comments on this post so people can find you, but I will not have time to update the post. Same goes for typos/errors on my part. I do my best to build the links correctly, but sometimes deadline-brain gets the best of me, and I'm sorry if it does. For those wondering why I don't use a Linky-widget instead, it's a simple matter of internet safety. The only way I can ensure that all the links lead to safe, appropriate places for someone of any age is if I build them myself. It's not a perfect system, but it allows me to keep better control.
Thank you so much for being a part of this awesome meme, and spreading the middle grade love!
*Please note: these posts are not a reflection of my own opinions on the books featured. Each blogger is responsible for their own MMGM content and I do not pre-screen reviews ahead of time, nor do I control what books they choose. I simply assemble the list based on the links that are emailed to me.

I hope you're ready for LODESTAR--because it's HERE! (And so is the paperback of NEVERSEEN!)
So here we are again.
Today is the day.
LODESTAR, my shiny book baby now officially makes its way into the world. I can only give it one last hug before letting it go and wishing it well:
LODESTAR is now yours.
I hope you love it as much as I do.
The story won't always go the way you're expecting it to--and I have a feeling this one will make you shout at the pages and fling the book into the wall (or maybe kick it) and ugly-cry at least once (I know I did as I wrote it). But if it does, that means I'm doing my job right. (Just make sure you don't accidentally hit anyone when you throw it--this thing is heavy. You could hurt someone!)
And I hope the story also makes you laugh, and cheer for the characters, and keep racing through those pages until the very end (and yes, I fully expect you to immediately demand book 6--sorry, I'm writing as fast as I can!)
And LODESTAR isn't the only book I have releasing today. The NEVERSEEN paperback is also (finally) hitting shelves, so for those of you who've been oh-so-(im)patiently awaiting that format so you can read--or who just like to collect my books--THE WAIT IS OVER! Tinier, paper-covered NEVERSEEN is HERE!
Thank you for reading this series. If it weren't for you guys buying the books (or requesting them at your library), and telling your friends about them, and posting about them on your social media, and posting reviews on amazon and goodreads and Barnes and Noble, I would've had to cut the story short long ago. You made books 6 and 7 possible. Thank you thank you thank you!
Oh, and one small plea: PLEASE remember that not everyone will be able to read the book immediately. Some have to wait for their copies to ship, or for it to be their turn at the library, or for birthday gifts or holiday gifts--or all kinds of other reasons. So try to be respectful with where/if you post any spoilers. I have a strict No Spoilers policy on this website and all of my social media, so I'll be deleting any posted there that I see (and no, marking it *spoiler alert* first won't make it okay. Neither will "vague spoilers"). But I'll also be traveling for the next three weeks, so I won't be able to check in as often, so *please please please* save that kind of thing for your own groups and feeds.
And here's hoping I'll get to meet some of you at my events while I'm on tour. Here's the full schedule of where to find me (and for more details on which ones do and don't require tickets, go HERE):
I also have some other fun things planned for the weeks ahead, including a special giveaway (and yes, I'll also release the LODESTAR playlist. I like to wait a few weeks, since sometimes the songs can be considered spoilers)
Okay, I guess I should stop rambling and let you guys get reading. Hope you enjoy!!!!
Oh, and as per tradition, here's a handy word cloud I made of the most commonly used words in LODESTAR. Happy reading!
**PS: if you took part in the pre-order swag giveaway, don't worry, your swag will be in the mail as soon as I can. I can't mail things while I'm traveling, but I'll do my best to get them on their way ASAP--and I always post a pic on Instagram when they go in the mail, so keep an eye out!**

Also, if you haven't checked to see where I'll be on tour, go HERE (or if you're planning to go to one of the events, might want to click that link too, a few of the events have decided to do tickets and you'll find more info about that, as well as a links to reserve your ticket)

MMGM Links (10/24/16)
I seriously don't know how we are now ONE WEEK away from LODESTAR. But it's happening. And my To Do list is officially EXPLODING.
So as a quick reminder, again--I'll do my best to keep up with MMGM over the next few weeks, but it's always tricky when I'm traveling (sometimes internet is spotty--or my itinerary is so crammed I don't have a moment to breathe, much less assemble links). So bear with me if it's a little bumpy around here. (And once again, if you haven't checked my events page to see if I'm coming to see you, go HERE)
Also, this is the final week to take advantage of the LODESTAR Pre-Order giveaway so make sure you don't miss your chance. For details, and the form you'll need to fill out in order to get your swag, go HERE.

MMGM Links (10/17/16)
I'm putting this week's links together on Nashville time (to anyone who came to see me at the Southern Festival of Books--THANK YOU SO MUCH!) And I have a super early flight home, so I'm going to bed early. So if you're one of the people who usually sends your link late, I may miss you this week. Sorry!
(and as a warning, I'll do my best to keep up with MMGM over the next few weeks, but I also have ALL THE TOUR TRAVEL starting 11/1, so bear with me if things get a little hairy. And if you haven't checked my events page to see if I'm coming to see you, go HERE)
One other quick reminder: the LODESTAR Pre-Order giveaway is ON. For details, and the form you'll need to fill out in order to get your swag, go HERE.

WOO HOO--It's finally time for the LODESTAR Pre-Order GIVEAWAY!!!!
It's time guys.
The post you've been waiting for.
THE LODESTAR PRE-ORDER GIVEAWAY IS HERE!!!!
Now that we're three weeks away from the launch of LODESTAR (AHHHH--WHERE DOES TIME GO???), it's time to make sure you know how to get your free swaggish goodies!
(And warning: as always, this is a epically long post with LOTS of important information, so make sure you read it all carefully so you don't miss your opportunity)
(Note: if you're planning on coming to one of my signings, you don't need to take advantage of this giveaway, since I'll be giving out the same goodies in the main swag pack at my events. Go HERE to see if I'll be doing a signing near you)
This giveaway is my way of trying to make up for the fact that it's impossible for me to tour to every city. If I could figure out a way to teleport, I'd meet each and every one of you in person. But since I can't, I like to make sure you all at least have a chance to get some of the fun things I give out at signings. So everyone who pre-orders a copy of LODESTAR before the cut-off date (10/31/16) AND fills out the form at the end of this post*, will get this awesome LODESTAR swag pack mailed directly to them:
In case you can't tell from the picture, you'll get:One limited edition "Iggy's Purple Reign" art print postcard (which are hand signed--you just can't tell in the picture)One hand signed KEEPER series bookplateOne Lodestar symbol stickerOne Iggy StickerOne sheet of character stickers
And yes, EVERYONE who pre-orders the book and fills out the form before the cutoff date will get that!!!!!
And there's more!
I will also choose twenty-five (25) of you at random and give you this: (yes, that's in *addition* to the other swag!)
And again, in case you can't tell, that is:One 5x7 character art postcardOne Verdi on duty button
You don't have to do anything special to enter for the extra goodies. I'll choose the winners randomly from all the people who fill out the form for their swag. So that's the only requirement: you must fill out the form at the end of this post. Which of course means you also must pre-order a copy of LODESTAR.
And because I like to keep things simple, I don't require proof of purchase for the giveaway. If you say you pre-ordered LODESTAR, I trust you. But remember, liars have to lick lockers that taste like Iggy breath--meanwhile honest people get to eat big bowls of Starflower stew! :) I also won't be announcing the winners of the additional goodies. If you win the extra swag, you'll find out when your prize arrives in the mail.
This giveaway is open internationally. It also doesn't matter if you pre-order an eBook or a hardcover. As long as it's LODESTAR, it counts. And you can buy your copy anywhere books are sold. Of course I recommend shopping local from your favorite indie and supporting a local business. But it's up to you where you want to shop.
(and scroll down for one more option before you make your decision)
I also know lots of you pre-ordered your copies of LODESTAR months and months ago (which is so incredibly awesome, btw.) And if that's the case, you can definitely still fill out this form and get your free swag pack. But if you haven't ordered LODESTAR already, you must pre-order your copy before 11:59 pm (pacific time) on 10/31/16 AND fill out the form before then. After that I'll close the form and there will be no more ways to enter.
And there's no limit on how many swag packs you can get--as long as you buy the corresponding number of books. So if you pre-order five books, you can get five swag packs. Just make sure you tell me how many copies you pre-ordered so that I know how many swag packs to send you.
Also: since I'll be on tour when this contest ends, there *will* be a delay on when your swag gets mailed to you. It won't come with your book, since your book will be coming from wherever you ordered it from, and then I will be mailing the swag separately as soon as I'm home from tour. I PROMISE I'll have them all in the mail before November 30th. (most likely much sooner). And I always post on my social media when they go in the mail, so you'll know when to keep an eye out for it. Sorry for the small wait, I can't mail stuff while I'm traveling.
(And again, if you haven't checked to see if I'm touring in your area, see my events page HERE. I hope I'll get to meet at least some of you!)
One final option to keep in mind, since this is the point where many of you start panicking and emailing me saying BUT WHAT IF I'M NOT ONE OF THE LUCKY 25 WINNERS?????? I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THE SPECIAL POSTCARD AND BUTTON!!!!!!
(especially since the ONLY other places I can guarantee that you'll get the exclusive postcard and button are my local launch party and the Changing Hands event. At the rest of the events I'll have a few for raffle prizes and that's it--but I will have all the swag in the primary swag pack for everyone)
Once again, I've teamed up with the incredible people at Changing Hands Bookstore to give you a way that you're guaranteed to get the extra pin and postcard. If you order your copy of LODESTAR through Changing Hands before my event there at 7pm on 11/16/16 (yes, you even get a couple of extra weeks to take advantage of this awesome offer), they'll send you all of the swag I've mentioned in this post (except the signed book plate, since your book will actually come hand signed by me) as well as the extra postcard and the Verdi button. Changing Hands will ship anywhere--even internationally (there IS a shipping fee. You can call them for an estimate: 480.730.0205 ).
And if you decide to take advantage of this, here are a few things to keep in mind (and it's a little confusing so make sure you read it carefully):
- Changing Hands won't ship your book until after the 11/16 (since they'll be holding onto them until I can sign them). But it will be worth the wait because you'll get a hand signed book and the extra goodies.
- If you decide to take advantage of this and buy your copy of LODESTAR through Changing Hands, DO NOT fill out the form below. Go to Changing Hands' website HERE (or call them--they're super friendly: 480.730.0205 ) and order LODESTAR before 7pm (mountain time) on November 16, 2016. That's all you have to do. Changing Hands will take care of the rest
- Another advantage to this: this is the only way--aside from coming to one of my signings--to have your book personalized to you. I used to personalize all the bookplates, but that's gotten WAY too time consuming. So if you want a personalized, signed book--AND all the fun goodies I'm giving away--Changing Hands is the only way to go. But again, you HAVE to buy your book from them.
Um........... I *think* that covers everything--but if I missed something, feel free to ask in the comments. (note: I will only answer questions posted in the comments on my website. If you're reading this on Goodreads or any of the other places it feeds out to, make sure you go to shannonmessenger.com to ask your questions. And I'm also only going to answer questions that haven't already been covered by this post, so please make sure you've read this post carefully before you ask).
And .... I guess that's it. Though I do want to once again thank all of you for incredible support. This series keeps growing and growing and it's all because of you. I can't wait for you to read LODESTAR. I'm so incredibly proud of it.
Only three weeks to go--AHHHHHH!!!!!
Okay, here's the form (and if for some reason, it isn't loading, click HERE to access the form online)
*Please note: you must be 13 years or older to fill out this form. If you're not, please have your parent or guardian fill it out for you.

MMGM Links (10/10/16)
One quick note before I get to MMGM: I've posted the full list of my LODESTAR Tour Stops. Go HERE if you missed it.
And check back for the Pre-Order giveaway details this week (still waiting on one piece of info, so I'm not totally sure which day I'll post it. Hopefully sooner rather than later, since I know you're all VERY eager)
Okay, on to MMGM!
And check back for the Pre-Order giveaway details this week (still waiting on one piece of info, so I'm not totally sure which day I'll post it. Hopefully sooner rather than later, since I know you're all VERY eager)

LODESTAR Tour Dates (aka: Where to find Shannon November)
Woooooooooooooooo! I finally have the full list of LODESTAR tour stops to share.
TA DA!
And since that graphic doesn't have the store addresses (or in case it isn't loading properly) here's the full list with a few more details (you can also find all of this on my events page by clicking HERE):
November 1, 2016 7:00 pm LODESTAR OFFICIAL LAUNCH PARTY Barnes & Noble Montclair 5183 S. Montclair Plaza Ln. Montclair, CA 91763 **This event is doing wristbands. Call 909-399-1966 to reserve yours. And click HERE for more details on the exclusive giveaways**
November 2, 2016 7:00 pm Barnes & Noble Rainbow Promenade 2191 N Rainbow Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89108
November 3, 2016 7:00 pm Provo Library 550 North University Avenue Provo, Utah 84601 *Books will be sold on site by The King's English*
November 4, 2016 5:30 pm Boulder Book Store 1107 Pearl St. Boulder, CO 80302
November 9, 2016 7:00 pm Anderson's Bookshop 123 W. Jefferson Ave. Naperville, IL 60540

November 11, 2016 6:30 pm Red Ballon Bookshop 891 Grand Ave. St. Paul, MN 55105
November 14, 2016 6:00 pm Barnes & Noble Stonebriar Centre 2601 Preston Rd. #1204 Frisco, TX 75034
November 16, 2016 7:00 pm Changing Hands Tempe 6428 S. McClintock Dr. Tempe, AZ 85283

December 2, 2016 6:00 pm Barnes & Noble 2615 Vista Way Oceanside, CA 92054
And I know a lot of you are reading that list and thinking, "BUT NONE OF THOSE ARE NEAR WHERE I LIVE!" I know. I'm sorry. I wish I could teleport and visit everyone. But alas, I have yet to manifest that ability. I also don't get to choose where my publisher sends me.
But if I'm not coming to see you--remember, you can get the same swaggish goodies I give out at events through the pre-order giveaway, which I will be posting all the details on next week! (Not sure which day yet--but all pre-orders count, so order anytime!)
And if you do live near my events--woo hoo, I hope you can make it to the signings! I would love to meet you!
I tend to get a lot of questions about events, so here's a few other pieces of info:Every store has their own policy on bringing books from home to be signed at events, and I always defer to their wishes. If they're cool with it, I'm happy to sign any of my books that you bring. But if they don't allow that, then I can't sign them either. If you're worried, I'd call the store ahead of time and ask what their rules are. And even if they do allow you to bring books from home, it's always nice to buy *something* at the event as a way of thanking the store for hosting me. It doesn't have to be one of my books. Just something to support the store, since they go to a lot of effort to organize the event for me.Yes, I'm happy to let you take a picture with me.As far as I know, the only store doing wristbands is the B&N in Montclair, hosting the launch party. But if you're worried, you can always call the store to double check.I'll be giving out the same swaggish goodies that will be part of the pre-order giveaway to everyone who comes to my events. So if you're coming to the event, you don't need to take part in the pre-order giveaway. If I missed something, you're welcome to ask questions in the comments. Just make sure you ask the question on the actual blog post on my website and not on any of the places this blog feeds out to (like goodreads) because that's the only place I respond to them.
That's all for now--hope everyone has a great weekend. And check back next week for the Pre-Order giveaway!
TA DA!

MMGM Links (10/3/16)
Putting this week's MMGM links together a little earlier than normal because I'm stuck with Jury Duty tomorrow (why, universe. WHY?) So if I missed your link, sorry!
And in case you didn't see, I've posted details on how to reserve your wristband for the LODESTAR official launch party. Go HERE if you missed it.
(Also, dude--we are now less than a month away from LODESTAR. Which means I have ALL THE EXCITING THINGS going on. Stay tuned!)
Okay, on to MMGM!

LODESTAR Official Launch Party Details
Here we go again, guys.
We're about five weeks away from LODESTAR launching into the world.
*MUPPET FLAILING*
And like always, I have TONS of updates coming up, including the pre-order swag giveaway details and my final tour dates and locations. (you can actually find most of the tour info already on my events page if you're curious, but I'm still waiting on a couple of pieces of info so I'm waiting until I have EVERYTHING until I make an official post.)
I've also be sharing character art on social media--and have teasers coming up next month--so if you aren't following me on Instagram, you might wanna click HERE so you don't miss out)
And for those of you in SoCal (or thinking of visiting SoCal in November), here's the info for the official Launch Party:
And in case that graphic isn't loading for some reason, here are the details again in plain text:
Tuesday, 11/1/167:00 pmBarnes &Noble Montclair Plaza5183 Montclair Plaza Ln.Montclair, CA 91763
And this year we're doing things a *little* differently. Since the signing line can get CRAZY long, we'll be using wristbands to make it easier for you guys. Don't worry--walk-ins the day of the event are still totally welcome. But if you want to make sure they don't run out of books and you'd like a guaranteed spot toward the front of the signing line, you can call (909)399-1966 and reserve your wristband for the event. Think of it as a Disneyland FastPass--only even more magical*
*okay, it's probably NOT more magical than Disneyland--can we call it a close second?
Wristbands will be organized into groups, so the sooner you call and reserve yours, the closer you'll be to the front of the line. Even better--it'll give us a better idea of how many cupcakes to bring (since we always seem to run out within minutes o.0) And the cupcakes this year are going to be SO GOOD--more on that later--so we want to make sure we have enough.
And as if free cupcakes aren't awesome enough, everyone who comes to the launch party and buys a copy of LODESTAR will get one of these shiny Verdi on Duty buttons (in addition to all the other swaggish goodies you'll see me talking about for the pre-order giveaway)
For those who don't live in SoCal or can't come to the launch, there will be a few other chances to get one of these buttons, but getting a wristband for the Launch Party guarantees you'll get one that night! (and those without wristbands at the launch party will most likely get one too--but the only way to guarantee it is to get the wristband, so seriously, call ahead and reserve yours!)
If you have any questions, feel free to ask away in the comments section below. Otherwise mark those calendars for 11/1/16.
And .... that's it for now. But like I said--stay tuned. Soooooooooooooooooo many more exciting things are coming up over the next few weeks.
