MMGM Links (4/7/14)
I know I'm skipping another MMGM shout out, but this time I am SURE I will get back on track next week because I JUST TURNED IN THE REVISION OF EVERBLAZE!!!! I'm not exaggerating when I say that was the hardest revision I've ever done, so I'm very happy to have it behind me. Here's hoping I got it right!
I also have a couple of events this week, in case you're in the SoCal area:
Friday, 4/117:00 pmYA Spring FlingMysterious Galaxy Books 7051 Claremont Mesa Blvd. #302San Diego, CA 90278*with JR Johannson, Nancy Holder, Debra Driza, and Rachel Hawkins
Sunday, 4/1311:30 am - 12:30 pmLA Times Festival of BooksBooth 732USC Campus
Hope to see some of you there! And now, here's the MMGM links:
If you would like to join in the MMGM fun, all you have to do is blog about a middle grade book you love (contests, author interviews and whatnot also count--but are most definitely not required) and email me the title of the book you're featuring and a link to your blog at SWMessenger (at) hotmail (dot) com. (Make sure you put MMGM or Marvelous Middle Grade Monday in the subject line so it gets sorted accurately) You MUST email me your link by Sunday evening in order to be included in the list of links. (usually before 11pm PST is safe--but if I'm traveling it can vary. When in doubt, send early!)
If you miss the cutoff, you are welcome to add your link in the comments on this post so people can find you, but I will not have time to update the post. Same goes for typos/errors on my part. I do my best to build the links correctly, but sometimes deadline-brain gets the best of me, and I'm sorry if it does. For those wondering why I don't use a Linky-widget instead, it's a simple matter of internet safety. The only way I can ensure that all the links lead to safe, appropriate places for someone of any age is if I build them myself. It's not a perfect system, but it allows me to keep better control.
Thank you so much for being a part of this awesome meme, and spreading the middle grade love!
*Please note: these posts are not a reflection of my own opinions on the books featured. Each blogger is responsible for their own MMGM content and I do not pre-screen reviews ahead of time, nor do I control what books they choose. I simply assemble the list based on the links that are emailed to me.

MMGM Links (3/31/14)
Okay, I'm going to have to skip this week's MMGM shout out again, but only because there were a LOT of links to put together. Skip A Starbucks Day--Part Two (awesome prizes to be had!)
If you've been following this blog for a while, you probably know how much I adore the incredible C.J. Redwine. She's both a friend and a mentor, and an uber-talented author to boot.
And you might also remember a few years back when I took part in a special fund raiser to help her raise enough money to bring her beautiful baby girl home from China.
Thanks to everyone's support, the fundraiser was a huge success, and the adorable Johanna is now happily settled with C.J. and her husband Clint. I've even had the chance to meet her, and she is one huggable, amazing kid.
And today, we need to make that magic happen again.
Meet Isabella Grace:
(DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO SNUGGLE HER?????)
C.J. and her husband are in the process of adopting this beautiful little girl from China. And because Isabella has multiple medical needs, the process has gone much quicker than they were anticipating. They're excited and overjoyed that they'll get to bring their daughter home that much sooner. But it's also left them scrambling to come up with the $15,000* they need to adopt her.
That's where Skipping a Starbucks comes in.
The basic idea? Give up one tiny indulgence today (like a $5.00 coffee) and use it to help bring this beautiful little girl home. It's AMAZING how huge of a difference those small donations can make.
And as an extra-huge thank you, many of her friends in publishing (including me!) are offering up a MULTITUDE of prizes that CJ is giving away on her blog--including signed books, a diamond-and-tanzanite necklace set, and a full manuscript critique from a literary agent.
Details on what's up for grabs, and how to donate (also a progress bar to show how close they're coming to meeting their goal) can all be found HERE.
* Any funds raised beyond the $15k will be given to The Moses Basket, a non-profit organization that supports adoptive families through grants, resources, and support.

MMGM Shout Out: THE SHADOW THRONE (plus the 3/10/14 links)
Whew, last week was a WHIRLWIND, thanks to the launch of LET THE STORM BREAK (and yes, that pun is very much intended). If you missed the contest I'm hosting to celebrate, make sure you check it out HERE.
But enough Shameless Shannon Self Promotion. For today, I've put together another quick MMGM shout out, this time for THE SHADOW THRONE, by Jennifer Nielson
I have been DYING for this book to come out--I am such a huge fan of this series! So you can imagine how much its killing me to have it sitting on my desk, taunting me like, "you can't read me right now because you're behind on your edits!" I swear, a huge part of my motivation to finish this revision--and quick--is this book. I NEED TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS! And if you haven't started this series yet, you need to. It's a bit like Megan Whalen Turner's THE QUEEN'S THIEF series, which is one of my favorites, and it's seriously addictive. I raced through books 1 and 2 in as many days, and have been waiting oh so impatiently for the final book ever since. COME ON EVERBLAZE--COOPERATE SO I CAN HAVE TIME TO READ.
ahem.
If you would like more info about THE SHADOW THRONE, you can find it on Goodreads HERE. And make sure you also check out these other MMGMs happening throughout the blogosphere:

LET THE STORM BREAK Launch Day Celebration
Wow, I can't believe LET THE STORM BREAK's launch day is finally here.
These last few years have been a crazy whirlwind of a ride (see what I did there? Yeah, that probably won't be the only wind pun in this post) and I can't believe my fourth book (second in my YA series) is now hitting shelves. No wonder I haven't slept in 2 years!!!
ahem.
Anyway, I know you all have so very many books you could choose to read, so I wanted to do something to show how much I appreciate those of you who give that time and love and support to Vane and Audra and all their adventures. (and the haboobs!)
So I've put together a very special giveaway, with three very special prizes, I think you're really going to love. Here's what's up for grabs:
In case you can't tell, whan't you're looking at are signed hardcovers of LET THE SKY FALL and LET THE STORM BREAK, all featuring original artwork drawn by me. Three winners will win one of each book, which can be signed and personalized if they would like*
To enter, you MUST complete these two simple steps.
STEP NUMBER ONE:You must either:Post a review of LET THE STORM BREAK on amazon / goodreads / B&N / youtube / your blog or website / ANYWHERE ELSE YOU POST YOUR REVIEWSTweet / Instagram / FB / tumblr / google+ / ANY OTHER WAY YOU ATTACK THE INTERNETS with a photo of LET THE STORM BREAK somewhere in the wild (could be your own personal copy in your hands, or a shiny copy on display in a store or library--doesn't matter to me. And if the store you go to is sold out, you can always request they bring in another copy. In fact, I would love you FOREVER for doing that!)Tweet / Instagram / FB / tumblr / google+ / ANY OTHER WAY YOU ATTACK THE INTERNETS with your own Sky Fall series fan art (Anything goes here--feel free to be as creative as you want.
You only have to do one--though you are welcome to do as many as you want. I'll reward you with an extra entry for everything you do (and every social media platform you post it on)--you'll just need to tell me what you've done so I can count your entries accordingly. Which brings me to:
STEP NUMBER TWO: Fill out the form at the bottom of this post, along with links to anywhere you posted the pictures/reviews. Form must be filled out by 11:59 pm pacific on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014*
Step two is an absolutely essential step, because it's the only way I will see your entry. So don't forget to fill out the form. And International entries ARE accepted.
I'm pretty sure that's everything, but if I missed something you are welcome to ask in the comments.
Okay, here's the form! And if you can't access it for some reason, click HERE.

*If you're wondering if you can request which drawings you win specifically, the answer is unfortunately "no." That would make things way too complicated. But I promise, they all look awesome, and I made them each different so you'd know you have a prize that's truly unique.Since these are very special, very time consuming prizes for me to make, I want to make sure they go to true fans of the series. So like I've done in the past, I'm going to make you guys put in a *little* extra work to enter--but I've still done my best to also keep it as simple as possible. So here's the details.

MMGM Shout Out: SKY RAIDERS (plus the links for 3/3/14)
Wow--I can't believe LET THE STORM BREAK comes out tomorrow (TOMORROW!). And I really can't believe I'm trying to edit EVERBLAZE in the midst of all this launch chaos. Pretty sure brain matter is starting to ooze out my ears at this point, but hey, it's all quality problems, right? RIGHT????
ANYWAY, Shannon-panicking aside, I'm super excited to have LtSB launch into the world, and I have an awesome contest planned to celebrate, so make sure you check back tomorrow. And for today, I've put together another quick MMGM shoutout, for SKY RAIDERS, by Brandon Mull.
If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know what a huge Brandon Mull fangirl I am. So it shouldn't surprise you at all that I've been counting down the days until this book comes out--and you bet I've already pre-ordered my copy. I am totally going to use it as my reward for finally meeting this brutal deadline (well, assuming I SURVIVE this brutal deadline) and it's the best motivation ever. No one writes fantasy, or builds worlds like Brandon Mull. I can't WAIT to see what he does with the Five Kingdoms.
If you would like more info about SKY RAIDERS, you can find it on Goodreads HERE. And make sure you also check out these other MMGMs happening throughout the blogosphere:

Team KEEPER Continued!
So wow. You guys have already maxed out the 200 Comment Limit on the new Team KEEPER page that I just built you--which is AWESOME, btw (clearly the KEEPER fandom is growing).
But it also leaves me with the *tiny* problem of not having anywhere for you guys to comment/interact with each other.
I've looked into lots of different things, but so far I haven't been able to find anything that lets you comment anonymously (since I know some of you have parents that don't want you creating accounts or using your name) and lets the comments be "threaded" (meaning you can reply to each other in a nice, organized, easy-to-follow way)
So for now, the only solution I can come up with is to move the conversation to another new place. Like oh, hey, RIGHT HERE.
You might want to bookmark this post so you can find it again, since this isn't a "page" like the others (though I have also added a link to this post on the Team KEEPER page, in case you can't find it). And if you fill all the comments on this page, I'll just create another.
SO.
As you were and carry on. Feel free to continue your Team debates (side note: I love that you guys are calling for me to make teams for characters who don't have them yet). It's also awesome that you guys have started discussing theories about things--though please, please, PLEASE make sure you keep that discussion spoiler-free, so we don't ruin the fun for anyone who hasn't read.
Also, if you need a refresher on who the teams are:

Also, if you need a refresher on who the teams are:

Ever feel like you don't belong? Then you look no further--you belong with Team Sophie! You may not always have the answers, but you're brave and smart, and if you trust yourself, you can handle anything. And as for who holds your heart? Only time will tell how you decide . . .

Ever feel like the underdog? Then welcome to Team Dex! You may have people constantly underestimating you, but you'll prove them all wrong someday. And while you may be the ultimate BFF, you're hoping to break out of the "friend zone" eventually. (you might have pretty great dimples, too . . . )

Ever caused a mess of trouble--and loved every second of it? Then you definitely belong with Team Keefe! Jokes and pranks are the highlight of your week--but that doesn't mean you can't be serious when you need to be. In fact, you care very deeply about . . . well, maybe you're not ready to admit *who* yet. But you're having fun driving the girls crazy in the meantime!

Ever feel pressure to be who everyone expects you to be? Then Team Fitz is the place for you ! You have the looks, the talent, and the family everybody envies--but that doesn't mean you do everything perfectly. And sometimes you can be a little oblivious when it comes to other people's feelings. But you'll hopefully figure it all out--eventually. . . (and yes, we're all dying to see your picture!!!!)

Ever feel like no one understands you? Then find lots of people you can relate to on Team Iggy! You may be small and good at making a mess of things--but you always know when someone needs you. And you're happy to provide them with a cuddle, a purr, or a nose-full of toxic breath--whatever they need. And hey, you can rock every crazy fur color there is!

Okay, and ............ GO!
Ever feel like you're all alone? Then you'll find lots of friends with Team Silveny--plus more sparkles than anyone could ever need! You're special and one-of-a-kind and extremely loyal and caring. And no one can deny you have great taste in friends--even if they give you the craziest nicknames.
