The Ramayana : The Game of Life, Reviewed by Vikram Roy

The Book One, ‘Rise of the Sun Prince‘ was not read by me. I received Book Two ‘Shattered Dreams‘, is a beautiful book. Thanks to team BlogAdda.

Here I want to highlight the pros and cons about this literature and also a month back I read ‘ASURA‘ by Anand Neelakantan, which was very confusing text from the known story of The Ramayana.

Here I need clarification from Shubha Vilas on Bhadra’s version of Ramayana. In ‘ASURA‘, Mr. Anand Neelakantan had mentioned that Sita was Ravana’s daughter, an asura princess! After Mandodari gave birth of Sita, the mystics and visionaries in Lanka advised to kill her immediately because she will bring the misfortune to the Asura race. It was Bhadra, Ravana’s faithful servant who was assigned to destroy the child, but Bhadra did not kill her. He left her by the river bank of Narmada near the kingdom of Mithila. Janaka, the king of Mithila who found her and the rest of the literature followed. I was shocked and very confused about my understanding of Vālmīki’s Ramayana.

I hope my dear BlogAdda team can help me out to reach this communication to Mr. Shubha Vilas to get an answer and remove me out of this confusion. Whether I am not sure, Mr. Anand Neelakantan is true or false.

The Shattered Dreams is the sequel to the Rise of the Sun Prince know as the Bala Kanda in Vālmīki’s Ramayana. Here Dasharatha, the king of Ayodhya in his early gray became less confident to take care of his subjects. He was thinking about the next successor to hand over his responsibilities. We came to know about the beauty of Kaikeyi; her seductive attraction was the weakness in Dasharatha. Because of her Dasharatha was unable to take a decision about Rama, the next successor of Ayodhya. Instead of, Rama was exiled from Ayodhya for 14 years. Rama, who vowed to prove that the truth of his father’s words and upheld the miseries of 14 years banishment from his kingdom.

Rama, a grown up teenager who learned practical lessons from meeting his subjects and wise men. Earlier Rama, who met Sita and won her hands for the wedding at the court of Mithila, after winning the contest about fixing Pinaka, the divine bow (dhanush) wielded by Lord Shiva.

Sita who was devoted and belonged to Rama followed her during the great exile. So did Lakshman, the half-hearted step brother of Rama. All three characters are discussed in this book with scrutinizing their inner souls. It shows the purity, the truth, and love; teach us adopting our personality. Now Rama has to face the destiny. The beginning of an evergreen journey of adventure to conquest.

I do not want to share the secrets over this review as I want readers to explore the Shattered Dreams. Some of the cons about the book has no illustration. Especially I love reading mythologies with illustrations which actually visualise the acts. I also found errors in printing and language. Especially at the beginning of the book up to first 30 pages the flow was not there, later the literature was better and improved. I would like to read The Book One and the next book if I am fortunate to get the copies.

Thanks!

5 Reasons Why You Need A Healthy Breakfast Every Morning?

Breakfast is a healthy practice to start a good day. The morning draft gives the energy to work hard and keep the mind free. Here I suggest, practice and make a habit to get healthy foods in your stomach every morning.

Why You Need A Healthy Breakfast Every Morning?

1. Skip breakfast and work empty stomach, I feel, fighting a Hunger Game whole day. Do a routine, healthy breakfast, like Bread, Butter, Peanuts, Milk, Fresh Fruits, etc.

2. Having breakfast, we can gain vitamins, minerals, and fiber that can help us being energetic in the workplace.

3. People who eat breakfast have more immunity strength, and that can decline illness.

4. Healthy breakfast and regular exercise can increase stamina and keep us fit.

5. Eating breakfast improves our memory. It’s observed that people who do breakfast manage their day according to their work calendar.

Some good quotes that motivated me:

“Breakfast is always the best time for something juicy, sweet and fresh – it just feels like the right way to open the day. There’s no right way, though, when it comes to choosing the fruit.” – Yotam Ottolenghi

“To me, breakfast is my most important meal. It’s often the meal you play a game. I make sure I have oatmeal, milk, and fruit. It’s the fuel you use to do your best hopefully, so eating right is a big part of being a professional athlete. I wish I paid more attention to it earlier in my life.” – Andrew Luck

Have breakfast and stay healthy!

Weekend Catch #2 Inside the Skyscraper at Bangalore, India.

A good weekend visit at UB City Tower, Bangalore’s one of the skyscraper architecture built by UB Group and the Prestige Group. Pioneered by the chairman of UB Group, Vijay Mallya, in Joint Venture with Prestige Group, it built on 13 acres of land. United Breweries Group or UB Group is an Indian conglomerate company. The company had annual sales of over US$4 billion and a market capitalization of approximately US$12 billion. Kingfisher is one of the value-added breweries brand marketed by UB Group.

The building is full of surprises and beauty. Mysteries, taste, music, and fun were at every corner. Jazz, Rhythms & Blues, decorations, and delicious foods were calling me from around the world. I was able to capture some of the moments; here I am sharing the photos with you.

Guest Post : Fifty Shades of Grey, A Grammarly Review!

fiftyshades-final

Although it topped bestseller lists around the world, E. L. James’ erotic romance novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, was widely panned by critics for its poor use of language.

The Grammarly team reviewed the book for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors, and learned that — although there were some mistakes — the errors were in alignment with similar gaffes in celebrated romances.

Check out some of the most frequent grammar mistakes from Fifty Shades of Grey, as well as some quotes from classic romances that also make these mistakes. The language of love really is a language of its own!

An infographic, Fifty Shades of Grammer from http://www.grammarly.com/grammar-check

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Always Love,

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for my blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 30,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 11 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The Epic Mythology v The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (A Review)

The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies was Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the popular fiction of J. R. R. Tolkien. Yesterday I was lucky to count on the final act of the Hobbit trilogy on 3D at INOX theater, Jayanagar, Bangalore. The experience was awesome and not comparable to any such high end production. It was an experience, the inner feeling, at a point of time I was thinking, if such story continues for the lifetime may be I would love to keep watching and watching. Yeah! 144 minutes of the video was passed like an eye blink.

Some important facts from the movie I wanted to highlight in this review. The epic mythological standard of the Hobbit story is undoubted. In the Indian epic mythology, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, or The Greek epic mythology, the Iliad, or all the literatures of the mythical standards have one thing in common, either a tragic end or the downfall of the heroes.

In the epic, The Ramayana, Ravana who was a good king, built the first democratic republic in the human history for his people. He had wealth, gold, and luxury in his kingdom. He was the conqueror of the heaven by defeating the demigods. But at the end he had lost the battle with Rama, an ordinary human prince from Ayodhya, India. Because the one mistake of Ravana by stealing Sita, the wife of Rama. Ravana did not listen to his ministers, brothers and wife to send back Sita, and protect the kingdom. In-stead of the sick king declared his own followers as the traitors and banished them from his kingdom. Here in the Hobbit, the exiled dwarf king of Erebor, Thorin Oakenshield, became blind of all his promises to the people and his followers once he got back the gold treasury. The life of people seemed no value to him in compare to the gold. He lost his conscience and became sick by not trusting his own people for the gems stone, called the heart of the mountain.

In the epic, The Mahabharata, Duryodhana, the elder prince of Hastinapura, India. He had claimed to be the king of Hastinapura. He had conspiracies and several false promises made to his cousin brothers for the share of the wealth of his kingdom. In spite of fulfilling his promises he chosen the war which took place at Kurukshetra and ended up after 18 days of devastating destruction and the complete ruin of his life and the kingdom. Duryodhana told, “Without the war, I will not give even a needle worth of land”. Here in the Hobbit, Thorin, forgot of his promises made to Bard, the dragon slayer and the descendant of Girion, the Lord of Dale and to his people. Bard saved the life of Thorin and his followers. He and his people helped them, by giving food, comfort, and nourishment. Without their contribution it was impossible to Thorin to get back to the mountain. But when the time came to reclaim the promises made by Thorin to Brad and his people; Thorin chosen the war. He was not ready to pay a single gold penny to them.

In the epic, The Iliad, Priam, the king of Troy and his elder son, Hector, both of them were aware of the mistake done by Paris. Helen, queen of Sparta, who eloped with Paris, the younger son of Priam, was the cause of the Trojan War. Perhaps Priam act at the right moment to send back Helen and protect Troy. But he did not, which caused the downfall of Troy. In Hobbit, Thorin, it was look like, though he had a small strength of army which was not sufficient to go for a war, declared his own downfall.

May be, he could allied with Bard, and Thranduil, the Elven king, have had been helped by the alliance a smooth win against Azog, the Orc chieftain and his Goblin army. At the end, Thorin could have a happy life by ruling, Erebor, until the end of his career. Which he did not act at the right moment, and bring his own downfall at the hand of Azog.

Albeit, Peter Jackson had no hand on that part of the story, as, I hope, it was all written by J. R. R. Tolkien in his novel. Albeit the commonness of the Hobbit version of the mythology, here I found beautiful and unforgettable supporting characters like, Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, Legolas, Saruman, Radagast, and Galadriel. These characters were acted and protected the role of wise, honest, courageous, who were changed the permutations and combinations of the Hobbit, the epic mythology.

Thanks!

Always love,

Vikram
