Sonnet X

The divided persona longs for Time:

Those days of the Dream that never ended - 

Long before the need to commence the Climb,

When the Future was safely suspended.

Those isolated days were Forever,

And eternity was composed of You - 

Soaked in the chemicals of contentment,

Spread out in an all encompassing view

Of Now and Tomorrow's happy advent.

But this spinning world demands our Actions,

And will not allow security's Rest,

Or the self fulfilling of Predictions

Without the Obliteration of Peace.

Lilith's Tears - Chapter One (after the Prologue)

The first chapter of my debut novel, Lilith's Tears.

How much time passed? Empty, meaningless time must have slid silently by as Trebane lay upon the beach beneath a scorching sun, watched over indifferently by the blue sky, free once more of clouds. Just a body, lying prone in the dry sand, its clothes tattered, its hair knotted and matted with salt, alone on the beach, with the bright, fertile green of a jungle growing densely ahead, away from the shore. Now the sea was calm, perhaps...

This has to be one of the greatest songs of all time, seriously. Apparently it dates back to the 1600s too, that just adds to the atmosphere for me - amazing. You can almost hear it echoing through time.
