I remember having a major case of the book hangover after finishing His Dark Materials (still some of my favourite books ever) and just re-reading parts over and over again, desperately trying to remain in that world, rather than embarking on the new Harry Potter, which I wanted to do as well. It went on for ages.

The Seasons
As my last post shows, I tend to write my worlds alongside the real world in terms of seasons. Summer is ending in the Blue Bricks Part I, just as Autumn is arriving in real life. I have often done this, and it is in no way intentional. Lilith’s Tears had the tropical setting and was written in summer, the Travelling Circus of Lacrimosa hovered between Autumn/Summer and, while I began the novel in Spring, the very last sentence, as summer ends in the book, was written as summer ended in...
“Do not worry. Change is in the air.”
“What change?” asked Anier...
“Do not worry. Change is in the air.”
“What change?” asked Anier miserably.
“The seasons. Autumn has arrived. Did you not feel it?”
“No.”
“You should pay attention to any change” the Old Man smiled “Especially in a place like this.”
“Who are you?’
“I am an Old Man from the Fourth Quarter. Or perhaps you do not believe in the Fourth Quarter? Then I am an Old Man who you do not believe in.”
