Hello, I'm James Buick and i and trying to write poetry and i feel it is awful. How do I improve?

Hello! I would say the biggest piece of advise is to stop worrying about it. Thinking it is awful will make the writing more difficult as you will be worrying about the quality of it constantly rather than the actual poetry. Instead, just write what you feel and try to enjoy it. Its worth remembering that everything you write yourself you will view differently to what someone else has written because you will always be more critical of yourself, its just natural. I know people who think they...

The new cover for The Travelling Circus of Lacrimosa!! This one is all about the ambience, evoking the atmosphere of the novel. The moon has always been a major Autumnal motif for me, and having it glowing there in space amongst the stars obviously evokes the seasonal setting of the novel. That mellow light, those far flung wistful stars, the dreamy vision of the night sky are all part of the atmosphere of the book - the slumbering end of a season and the slumbering end of a way of life. Its...

The new cover for Lilith’s Tears!! Really loving this. I think it captures the stark feel of the novel, the vivid nature of a Gothic fairytale and the Dark Romance, as well as the density and the shimmering unreality of the jungle setting. As for the skull..Torn is the most important aspect of the book, in the entire world of the book, so having that emblem there, powerful and almost burning out of the cover, is especially symbolic. The skull is the heart of the jungle on the cover, and those...

New covers for my novels!!

I have mentioned this before, but my two novels now have completely new and redesigned covers! I really like them - I prefer them to the originals in all honesty, they are much more dramatic and stark (which is hopefully reflected in the writing itself). They reflect the worlds of those books much more accurately than the originals, I think. A cover is obviously important, it is the first thing a reader sees and is therefore most likely to influence them even before the blurb, but I think a c...

Life seems to go through two stages. The first phase being the creating phase; writing the book/story/song/script etc where ideas arrive and are written down and such. The second phase is then the “making” phase, the work phase if you will: editing the novel/editing the story/recording the song/making the film. And repeat. Again and again. I’m not complaining though, always enjoyed working towards a final product.

The Eternus Closing In - Lilith's Tears..

They were stood at the very edge of that quarry he had previously passed and he lurched, clutching his head. A large, deadly drop extended mere feet away, tempting his unsteady frame into shadowy, dark depths untouched by even the most potent moonlight. Struggling to focus, striving again to concentrate, he turned to face forward. Now that they knew their prey was trapped, the savages had formed a jumbled semi circle so that behind lay death by falling, while in front hundreds of mangled, dis...
