My Review of “Bad Little Falls” By Paul Doiron.

Edgar Award finalist Paul Doiron’s new crime novel, Bad Little Falls, has just been published, and it’s another winner.

My review for the Associated Press begins this way:

Maine game warden Mike Bowditch should have learned by now that he needs to mind his own business.

His inability to do so in “The Poacher’s Son” (2010) and “Trespasser” (2011) has left both his personal and his professional life in tatters. His superiors, and just about everyone else in Maine law enforcement, consider him a hotheaded, arrogant loose cannon. The woman he loves has left him, taking their baby son with her. And, as his new adventure, “Bad Little Falls,” opens, he’s been banished to an assignment in Down East, Maine.

The Brazilian Edition of “Rogue Island”

The Brazilian cover of “Rogue Island,” retitled “Through the Fire.”

What do you think of the Brazilian cover of my first Mulligan novel, Rogue Island?

The original title, a pun on “Rhode Island,” doesn’t work in Portuguese, so the publisher changed it. Translated, the new title means Through the Fire.

I’m not sure when the book will be available in Brazil, but it will probably be just a few months.  The novel is being published in ten foreign countries.

Rogue Island, the first novel in my series featuring Providence, R.I., investigative reporter Liam Mulligan, won both the Edgar Award and the Macavity Award.  The second, Cliff Walk, was published this spring to rave reviews. And the third book in the series is almost completed. You can purchase print, e-book and audio book editions of both Mulligan novels here.

Look Who’s Reading “Cliff Walk” Now! It’s Best-Selling Thriller Writer Joseph Finder

I’m a big fan of Joseph Finder’s work — and he’s a fan of mine, too. According to him, “Bruce DeSilva takes everything we love about the classic hard-boiled detective novel and turns it into a story that’s fresh, contemporary, yet timeless.” You can learn more about this Boston-based writer here.

Look Who’s Reading “Cliff Walk” Now! It’s Best-Selling Thriller Writer T. Jefferson Parker.

T. Jefferson Parker

T. Jefferson Parker has long been one of my favorite thriller writers. I especially admire his quirky protagonists including Allison Murietta, a lady outlaw and descendant of a famous old-California bandit; Robbie Brownlaw, a San Diego homicide detective whose medical condition, synesthesia, makes it easy for him to tell when people are lying; and Joe Trona, a tough guy carrying deep physical and emotional scars from an abusive childhood.  His latest novel is The Jaguar. You can learn more about Parker here.
