Moon

Midnight blue holds a full moon
Starry night that pulls me in
A spell of enchantments
A tug of hope
A wave of sparkles
A receding curtain
Ending days to
Bring in dreams
I feel the twinkle of stars on my lashes
Rainbow rings around an illuminated sphere,
Color my fears and quells my beating heart.
I sense the ocean swells of sea creatures
Deep below the surface.
Night time versus Daytime
Dark and Light
Give me night
To spread my wings
Give me day
To make a mark
I live between the full moon
And the rising sun
Enchanted

Into the Light

Nimble Jack, jumping over the candle stick
Feared the flame, the burning lick
He knew nothing of passion
His life fashioned
On his skill of avoidance
The flicker of romance
Hidden by acrobatics
Going for the dramatic
All the while the flame
Flickered his name
Stand still
Use your will
I’ll give you sight
Look into the light.

Shoo-fly

A fly knows not where it lands
Flits off with the slightest movement
Shoo-fly don’t bother me.
A bee hovers
An ant scurries
A spider spins
Confused the bee and ant find
The hummingbird feeder
the sweet end awaits
as they fall
in the spider’s web.

Aging Young

Sharp, inquisitive, wise
The mind wonders at
The fragility of the bones
The aches and pains.
Too young to be old
With more to explore
The body wonders about the mind
That weighs it down with memories
Too old to be young
Content to rest as one.

Epilogue

He knew each of us
Loved us for who we were.
He embraced all ways
True love doesn’t rob another of their essence.

Sunning

The exact spot where the sun shines
The wind pauses
Words flow
A bird perched
On a fragile branch
Hidden in plain view
An observer
Of two-footed creatures
Who amble below
You sit with sun’s warmth
A respite
All your own.

Lost Soul

Lost soul, where did you go?
Tethered to another
You hide.
I see you in glimpses.
Peeking out
Free of worry
Free of consequences.
Lost soul, why retreat?
Words unspoken
You hide.
I see glimpses
Of old sparks
Worry lines
Crease your brow.
Lost soul, a retreat
Isn’t defeat.
Fertilize the emptiness
Seeds will flourish
I await in your solitude.

Horsetails

Insidious towers that line the edges of the woods
Pointed tips grow tall
Inches measured in seconds.
Soldiers seeking to gain more territory.
They snuck across the edge as rains
Created a moss carpeted lawn.
I caught the horsetails peeking out.
I had no choice but to
mow them down.

Being

You are what you become.
Each moment a century of pasts
Built upon layers
Like no other
You transform your perceptions
Each action anoints the future
Pathways lined
In golden jewels
You become what you are

Moon Shadow

Mr. Moon
You rise above
The sky with rounds of light
Spreading joy through the night.
You disappear as days dawn,
But if we rise before your retreat
A shadow remains
A wisp of faded smiles
A breakfast treat.
Moon shadow where you go
Nobody knows.
