"Ask Me Anything" on Gene Wolfe at Reddit
I was invited to do an AMA ("Ask Me Anything") for the Gene Wolfe fans at Reddit.
Gene Wolfe topic at Reddit
It is currently pinned at the top of the page now, but I do not know how long that will last.
It was a day long question and answer thing, with over a hundred comments.

New Essay "Posthistory 201"
I have a new essay on the New Sun over at Ultan's Library:
Ultan's Library
"Posthistory 201" is mainly a rethinking of how many chiliads are in the Age of the Autarch. Previously I had pegged it at being one chiliad, but Nigel Price pressed me on that, so I examined all the evidence again.
Please give it a look!

Working with the Latro novels
For something different, I will give notes on a work in progress, rather than just announce when things are done.
I am currently at work on making a chapter guide for the three Latro novels (Soldier of the Mist, Soldier of Arete, and Soldier of Sidon). While I had read them before, and discussed them, I had not invested the labor into them to write anything. (In contrast, I had written a bit about The Fifth Head of Cerberus: Three Novellas and Peace, so writing Gene Wolfe's First Four Novels: A Chapter Guide was easier for me.)
So a few weeks ago, as I was halfway up the Nile again with Soldier of Sidon, it suddenly seemed very hard. Not that it was a slog or anything, just that the text is fragmentary and the emotional tone is dark and sad.
I pushed on through, and pieces started coming together.
Here is a relatively simple thing, maybe it has occurred to you before, but I see a thematic similarity to the three novellas of The Fifth Head of Cerberus and the three Latro novels: the first piece is civilized; the second piece is at the frontier; the third piece is highly fragmented in an alien setting.
