To Tip The Scales Of Justice And Mercy
I found this the other day when I was searching my old Blogger blog for something else. I wrote this in 2012, but it’s Relevant To Our Interests in this post-truth age, methinks. Hang in there, my lovelies. Be good.
The Small Person is in bed, again, at last, and I’m reading, again, but not books, because books can’t hold my attention right now when I’m restless, and tired, and vaguely guilty for the fact that my house looks like it’s lived-in and there are toys in the corner and folding on...

Welcome to #MadeItMonday, where I post something I’ve made in the previous week, and where you can join in and post something you made too! Sit back and enjoy scrolling through all the beautiful things we’ve collectively created, and celebrate the fact that humans can be awesome!

EEE My Favourite Dance Troupe + My Favourite Composer = SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE
Ermagersh, I couldn’t believe it when I found this video the other day: LXD are a dance troupe who’ve done a series of short films about dancers with superpowers (there are four seasons of it at present, and it’s directed by Jon M. Chu, who also directed Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D, movies I unashamedly *adore*) and they are AWESOME. Like, seriously, these guys are so pro it hurts. And the composer of the piece of music in the video below, Kerry Muzzey, is one of my favourite composers of all ti...

A Happy Moment
In the midst of world chaos and a personally hectic week as school returns for a new year here in Australia, a bright spot arrived in the mail today:
Oh good, my fingers are perfectly covering the byline >.< That’s Liana Brooks’s name and my name under my fingers there, to reassure you

Possum Inna Box! (Also, Possums vs Opossums)
Did you know possums and opossums are actually totally different species? If you’re Australian or Kiwi you might be aware, but I learned the other week that the rest of the world is not so familiar with this fact! The rest this all came to light is because for few days there, we went up to our garage every morning to find the boxes and brooms in disarray – and then there were footprints on the car’s windscreen – and then droppings. Oh yeah, and BLOOD, both on boxes and the car bonnet, because...

Nothing Will Last, But,
I did something useful, even though it was a very small thing. It wasn’t like I brought peace to the world or anything. I just kept some people from killing each other for a little while. I was useful. It felt good.
Nothing I did will last. Omar will live the rest of his life without his parents. The killing will keep on going.
But in that little place, for those little moments, I actually did something good.
Context is everything.

Don’t You Ever Interrupt Me When I’m Reading A Book, Now
If you’re reading this blog, chances are moderately high to absolute that you like reading books. And if you like reading books chances are moderately high to absolute that you have, at some point in your life, been interrupted while attempt to read a book – usually right at the most important part, amirite? *eyebrows*
Chances being moderately high to absolute that you’ve experienced this situation, chances are thus also moderately high to absolute that you’ll resonate with this video

Celebration Food: Reimagining “Junk” Food
I mentioned last week that I want to work on prioritising my sleep in an effort to make it easier for me to reclaim my health; the past few years have wreaked havoc on my body (highlights include two pregnancies, the second of which totally warped my body’s response to hormones, a hyperactive thyroid nodule, and a gangrenous gallbladder…) and the past fourteen months in particular have eaten my sleep. When I’m tired, I don’t *do* any less, I just eat more to compensate for my lack of energy –...
