A.H. Scott Delivers Destiny In "Takeout" - A Contemporary Flirtation By A.H. Scott

“He could have any woman he wanted. He knew it and I know it. He wanted me, and, that is all I needed to know” – Caren Barrett

*********

This is not a love story. This is a flirtation, a romance of two people who by chance crossed each other’s paths at the counter of a department store.

Greggory Pallard and Caren Barrett were not looking for love or some grand romance; but, what they uncovered in each other was an adventure of the heart and soul, which was unexpected.

Life and relationships can be like a home cooked meal. But, sometimes something different was on fate’s menu. A.H. Scott delivers destiny in “Takeout”.

REFLECTED & DETECTED - AN A.H. SCOTT POEM

Reflected & Detected

Gazing into the mirror, she couldn't see herself anymoreShe saw the wife and mother, but not the woman she'd been beforeHe walked up behind and her slowly and slide arms around that soft waistShe chuckled at bit over his actions of affectionNo longer a babe or some kind of trophyThis was a woman who'd become just another spouseBut, her man never diminished this woman's arousing essenceThey'd been married for over thirty years and each wrinkle had become a friend in the darkness"I love you" ,he said, as his lips pressed against her backShe turned around to face him and the highway of life was upon that once youthful face of hers"I'm not a babe anymore, honey" ,she shruggedHe wanted to assure her that he didn't want a scatterbrained sexpotThis man wanted his wife - a woman in very sense of the wordAgainst the sink, he pressed her bodyShe wasn't feeling desirous in any sense of the wordYet, this man who wasn't a young stud anymore, still had a hell of a kick within himDark brown hair with a stream of grey hairs rolled around her shouldersBoth stood naked beneath bathroom lightHis body pressed in and outWhile her soft body began to wiggle aboutHis hammer may have been a bit slower with time's ascentYet, she enjoyed every nailing of this gentle gentShe held onto him, as her legs wrapped around his backDraped in sweatIn that divine moment it was the bestMemory never fades away, when love is in two hearts....

AN UNFORGETTABLE TOOL - AN A.H. SCOTT QUOTE

"The human hand is an unforgettable tool. It can be a healing hand upward or a fracturing fist downward. The choice is in our hands. We can lift one another to a higher level with actions of love and encouragement. Or, we can demolish each other with words of hate and indifference. An open palm or constricting fist can leave an impression which will never fade away in the soul. Kindness or bitterness is all in a single touch" - A.H. Scott

PUNCH BEYOND WHAT'S IN PLAIN SIGHT - AN A.H. SCOTT QUOTE

"Punches of pessimism can knock the wind out of you. Yet, that optimist inside punches back like lightning. Life can knock you down, beat you around, shock your senses with upper cuts to the left and right. But, one thing that ain't gonna happen is to have it knock out your spirit inside. Tie on those gloves and get ready to give push a shove. Punch beyond what's in plain sight. Get back in that ring! Even if it's off-key - you gotta sing! Bell for the next round of living is about to ring!!" - A.H. Scott

LEAP OF FAITH - AN A.H. SCOTT QUOTE

"Taking a leap of faith is quite an intimidating proposition. But, you'll never succeed in achieving your hopes and dreams if you only remain standing still. Swimming in a small pond can be easy. Venturing out into unchartered waters is a mixture of exhilaration and intrepidation all wrapped up in one. Of course there are sharks in an ocean of opportunity. No doubt about that. Just keep one eye on them and your other eye on possibility. Waves of joy are waiting for you. Dive into an amazing journey." - A.H. Scott

"OVERCOMPENSATION" AN A.H. SCOTT COMMENTARY

"OVERCOMPENSATION" AN A.H. SCOTT COMMENTARY
Throughout history's dawn, men have gone from grunting in illuminated caves to giving words of eloquence in chambers of cool reflection.
Warrior's roar in rooms far from the public eye begins to massage the design for military conflict.
Of course, there are the cheerleaders; whose pom-poms of colored strands of plastic are transformed into Brooks Brothers' suits with Rolex' upon their wrists. The people within nations never see these men on ballots to be voted upon. And, when these men do place their ideas within the public sphere; they are so finely scripted that Frank Capra could be directing them.
Gotta get the ball rolling.....
Then, that final cherry atop this stalk of a symantical samba, is the warrior with deft skill of speech. Ah, yes, he becomes the face who will sell the public this can of fractured theories and hidden realities. Polls have ruled that he is trusted and a good leader. So, the face is in place.
In the modern day, it's a question of naming a villain and nominating yourself as the hero. Oh, of course, there are bad guys in this world. No doubt about it. But, the question is; if you go after every bad guy, will YOU be the person who gets on that plane and goes to kick their ass? Hmm, I don't think so.
The men in the mahogany lined rooms don't ever get their own hands dirty in these ammunition arcades called military actions.
Gentlemen, let's start the machine....
Pipes of freedom are gently played to lull nations to sleep and get the masses to stand up for this hallowed theory of freedom. Oh, that's easy to do. Just beat that drum of patriotism a bit louder and get the public into a certain rhythm of suiting up for war.
Greed is denied by any who start the war machine up. Yet, when we go to war; the corporations, private contractors and other miscellaneous entities have a way of tissue-papering over their own avarice with white parchments from think tank to ideological foundations across the spectrum.
"WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes." - Major General Smedley Darlington Butler, United States Marine Corps, 1933
And, the racketeer is not a SHE, but always a HE.
Erection of election has it's place.
Under those unfurled banners of freedom and white-gloved vessels of greed; there lies a third essence of overcompensation's afterglow.
Oppression's ocean is the tide of tears and ruined lives, which are feignly submerged under the rah-rah's of accomplished missions and Lionhearted leadership.
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace" - Jimi Hendrix, musician
If there is an ascending accelerator which turns on the war machine, where is the stand-down button?
"When man chooses to speak and actually listen to one another, than to fight; then a reflexive thirst for war will wane" - A.H. Scott
Or, maybe a cigar is just a cigar. And, overcompensation is just that blunt a truth.
A.H. Scott

OF GILDED CAGES & SHREW RAGES (OR, "TWENTY-FIVE SHRUGS OF APATHY") - !!AN A.H. SCOTT RANT!!

Of Gilded Cages & Shrew Rages (Or, “Twenty-Five Shrugs Of Apathy”)

!!An A.H. Scott Rant!!

What are little girls made of? Sugar, spice and – yeah, yadda, yadda, yadda. What are women made of? Strength, grit, charm, sass, sexiness and wit. Now, that’s what I’m talking about.

When you’re a little girl, the world can see you as that helpless sparrow without an ability to use your wings. When you become a woman, some still want to see your wings as invisible. Yet, they are there and quite usable.

To break free from that cage of lesser age and appreciate what maturing brings as the years rise is an aspect of finding womanhood.

What’s worse than a man who doesn’t see a female as a woman is another woman who tries to infantilize her into being some sort of mealy-mouth child to be patted upon the head in their own self-reflecting mirror of manipulation. Or, in this case - womanipulation.

The greatest enemy of equality is not of the opposite sex. The greatest enemy of equality is sometimes the same sex. A woman has a voice and doesn’t need anyone, including another woman to speak for her.

Use your intelligence and make your own decisions. Be it from choosing what to have for dinner or breakfast that next morning.  It is YOUR decision.

And, so with that; I get into what prompted this writing. The film “Fifty Shades Of Grey” is opening in theaters this week and the bark of boycotts are swirling around it.

The “Fifty Shades” phenomenon has passed me by. And, this comes from someone who owns all three parts of the trilogy. I shrug my shoulders and admit it’s just another book. Nothing extraordinary or earth-shattering.

People, it’s just a book. That’s all. Nothing more and nothing less.

E.L. James put a work of fiction into the market square, got that fortunate buzz of quicksilver, and made more than her share of millions from it. And, I applaud her for that result.

The lead up to this movie had my eyes roll many a time when seeing the commercial for it on television. No real reaction came from me when viewing the trailer. Not hot. Not cold. Just – eh.

But then, the sounds of the yapping dogs began to fill the air.

For me, an avid reader with a veracious thirst for the written word who had little thought about a movie adaptation of E.L. James’ book was suddenly drawn into an internal debate over being brow-beat by boycotters who think they know what’s best for entertainment or leisure.

Not every work of ‘fiction’ – and, yes, that is what the book and its’ adaptation is; has to be analyzed and over-analyzed by certain organizations which find they can get as much publicity as possible for their own pet projects and issues.

I think the backlash against “Fifty Shades of Grey” will have a boomerang backlash against it.

People – no, I mean women, will go to see this film not because of some grand affection for “Fifty Shades” and the buzz around it. But, just for the fuck of it. Actions would truly speak louder than words when those shrews screeching for boycott find that not every female is locked in that fist-raised solidarity of sisterhood.

Moralists and screechers may get some people not to plunk down their cash for a movie ticket. But, that doesn’t mean their cash will be plunked down for their issues or organizations.

Women are wiser than other women think.

A movie is a movie. A book is a book.

For yours truly, I could give “Twenty-Five Shrugs of Apathy” about the film and book “Fifty Shades of Grey”. But, then again, down the road, maybe I’ll be the contrarian who sees the flick on cable or demand, just for flipping the bird to those who imply that I shouldn’t.

Now, that’s my shade of shruggin’.
