Wednesday's Girl 



Wednesday's girl
Without fanfare or cotton furl 
Skirt of white taken off in a bedroom nearby
Wednesday's girl
He gives her a whirl 
Around the room he chases her with a smile on his face
She gazes back and winks with a giggle in her voice
They always met at his place near the University down the lane
It was the perfect way to meet and de-stress from many hectic days
Books and pom-poms tossed on the floor
She was a bright light to his world 
This man never could have asked for more
College brought them together
But, not as equals
She was a preppy collegian
And, he was a professor of languages
She taught him a few things about living in the moment
He taught her a few lessons about a heart which was haunted 
Wednesday's girl made him feel alive once more
They'd hug and kiss just before she exited his door
She was a cheerleader of kindness that came into his world
He was a thoughtful soul who graced her with gentleness
Wednesday's girl and her guy made sure that day and night together would never be missed..
See ya' next week for an encounter of mid-week bliss...

A WOMAN COMES OF AGE IN THE YUKON - "THE LOST WINTER OF LYLA STRAUSS"

Sally came quickly to the realization that her words spoken were vacant, if not without actions taken to show what she meant. She stood up and made her way to the bureau with an ivory colored, lace cloth atop of it a few feet from the bed, “Lyla, you do know what goes on in this saloon, don’t you?”



“I do”, A bit embarrassed in answering this woman, Lyla added, “Sally, I’ve seen things here that I probably shouldn’t have”, Unable to react in another way, she nervously began to giggle, “To see you and the others here….doing things with those men”, Unaware of how to respond any further, she sighed.




Sally nodded, turning back to her and starting to rummage hands through that top drawer of this bureau, while speaking, “A touch of a man is something divine to experience, Lyla” Removing an item from the drawer, she smiled and tossed it lightly into Lyla’s lap, “This is a gift for you from me, Lyla”.



Ignorant of what this object was, Lyla held it in her hand, “It’s so soft. What is it?”



As Lyla Strauss held a peach colored, lace garter with a black silk ribbon center, Sally Addams remarked, “You really are pure as the driven snow, my young beauty”, Cradling Lyla’s chin with both hands, she spoke further about that garter, “A gentleman from Europe gave it to me a few years ago, when he was passing through to the North. It is a garter belt, Lyla”, Sally kissed Lyla’s forehead lightly, “It is very special to me. As are you, Lyla”.



Sally had known Lyla Strauss since she was a baby, raised by Dancy Ruelaix after her parents were tragically killed. Over the years, she had always looked out for this orphan girl. As she gazed at the young woman seated on that bed, Addams could see the confusion in those soft, brown eyes of Lyla……

Perfect Moment

People wait for that perfect moment to say or do something
Perfect moments are few and far between
Moments that can touch your heart and soul just come along 
Always searching for that right moment for stars to align
Time-tossed beings grasp for the moon
Wondering if a word or a touch could have taken us down a different road
Moments of perfection are the myths our minds create
Stammered sentences or participles wanting to participate
Palms moist with sweat and brow twitched
Anxious of dismissal, we start to fret
Faith in pursuing the moment that isn't just right yet
Not to impose
Not to suppose
Too many words
Too little sounds
Motioning forward
Motioning behind
Just milling about
Whistle of departure blows
This is the moment we all know
Could it be chance?
Or, just opportunity anew?
Maybe, in the end it's just that train whistle that blew
Locomotive of life is pulling out of the station

Performance begins
