Our Good
And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.-Deuteronomy 10:13
Not because God is a wet blanket and wants to steal our fun.
But because He’s God and He knows what leads to freedom and joy.
Let’s Talk:Can you talk about a time when obedience led to freedom in your life?
Mrs. Mommy Booknerd interviewed me on her blog today!

Control Issues
There are things writers cannot control when it comes to getting published.
Such as….
When an editor or an agent reads our stuff
The mood of the agent or the editor when they read our stuff
The other books that are being pitched at the pub board meeting
What’s hot and what’s not in the industry
The background, personal preferences, and life experiences editors and agents bring with them to the story
This lack of control isn’t something that ends once we get a book deal. It carries over AFTER public...

B-man’s first time wading in the creek
Cares:
Our adoption agency hosted a webinar last night after their most recent trip to the Congo.
One of our biggest concerns about adoption has been corruption, which sadly, is a very real problem in the international adoption world. Especially Africa. We’ve been on our knees about it. We’ve researched like crazy. We even swallowed a $500 application fee early in the process when we started feeling uneasy about the first agency we pursued.
We already felt c...

Blaming God When Bad Things Happen
I can’t even begin to fathom the grief and the horror the people living in Aurora, Colorado have experienced this past week.
I only know people are hurting. People are devastated. People are angry.
A woman named Marie was there, in theater nine. With her two teenage daughters. She heard the gunshots and the screaming and the terror. She covered her daughters and when the firing slowed, she took her family and ran for the exit.
The next day, she wrote a blog post entitledSo You Still Think God is...

The Still Small Voice
It is with great honor that I introduce you to our guest blogger today – debut novelist and historical romance writer, Keli Gwyn. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Keli for a couple years now and all I can say is she is one of the kindest, most sincere, encouraging, supportive people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.
So it was with great anticipation that I opened up her debut novel, A Bride Opens Shop in El Dorado, California. I knew I’d support Keli regardless of how I liked the book, be...

From Caricature to Character
As novelists, we work hard to breathe life into our main characters. We even work hard to breathe life into our secondary characters.
But what about the minor characters?
The ones that make brief cameos. Perhaps for a scene or two or three. The ones that have no significant impact on the story. The ones that are simply filler.
Like the hostess who sits your protagonist at the restaurant.
Or the police officer who pulls your hero over for speeding.
Or the delivery guy who brings your heroine flower...

Two Day Post Surgery
Cares:
I’m officially entrenched in revisions for book two, Wishing on Willows.
Concerns:
The revisions are making me feel like a turtle. I was hoping to get a lot more accomplished yesterday than actually got accomplished.
Trying not to worry about things outside of my control.
Celebrations:
Hubby is home and recuperating. The surgery couldn’t have gone any better and the kidney loves its new home. There’s this scene in Gilmore Girls, where Logan walks after an accident and ask...
