New Story Accepted For Publication!

I’ve just had the good news that my short storyProm and Other Hazards has been accepted to be part of the Peacock Collection from Less Than Three Press.

The collection is themed around suits, and those who wear them well. I instantly thought of the many beautiful women who look positively dashing in a suit:

In that spirit, I wroteProm and Other Hazards:

Frankly, promis a ridiculous concept. People at school treat it like its a test run for a wedding, complete with ‘promposals’. Not to mentio...

Review of Fumbling Toward Crescendo

Print

Somehow I’ve only just found Joyfully Jay’s review of theMissed Connections anthology, which includes my story ‘Fumbling Toward Crescendo’. Overall he gives the anthology a 3.75 / 5, but he has especially nice things to say about my story, which I’ve excerpted here:

Vi is coaxed out for a night on the town, but since she is barely out to herself, the club her friend Greg brings her to is a bit much to handle, especially when Vi discovers the dancers changing in the ladies bathroom. Once the...

News: new book on the way!

Okay, Im going to be upfront with you all: Im obsessed withDr Quinn, Medicine Woman. Yes, the 90s TV show.

As with many things, it all started out as a joke. When I started my PhD a few years ago, I found a friend who was also heavily into fandom. We bonded. And one night, probably after some wine, we started joking about what fandoms all our professors would be in. There was one intimidating woman in her late 50s, and after hemming and hawing for a minute, my friend said, I bet its Dr Quinn...

Sales Figures and Art!

LGBTQ publishing is a niche market – because of that, I’m more concerned about reviews than sales. I want to know the few people who are buying my books really enjoy them. Imaginary hasn’t sold many copies, but the reviews are strong (a four star average on goodreads), and that’s what makes me really happy.

On the other hand, good sales are nice, too!

The Only Way was released exactly eight months ago today – and so far, it’s sold an average of 4.5 copies A DAY.

In the world of bestsellers and m...

New Releases Next Week!

Next week brings TWO new stories from me:

Print Fumbling Toward Crescendo

Vi has no idea why she’s even at a hipper-than-thou club on a Saturday night; it’s about a million miles away from her usual scene. And she’s even more out of her depth when she bumps into the club’s go-go dancers, getting ready to go on for the night. She’s ready to run away and never look back when she spots Cassidy, a ballerina looking for a paycheck who doesn’t quite feel like she fits in either.

Vi’s buried deep in the clos...

Can you hear me now?

I’ve got some great audio book news! As many of you know, Less than Three Press has partnered with Red Planet audio books to release some of their titles. I’ve just signed the contract to have The Only Way produced as an audio book, and been given an update on the audio book for Imaginary: It should be available through Amazon, Audible, and iTunes by the end of this month!

I know tons of people who do most of their ‘reading’ via audio books – whether it’s during a long commute, their daily wor...
