Maple Leaf: Stage 1. #amwriting

Currently working on "Maple Leaf: Stage 1." This is a project that leaves me feeling incredibly hopeful about the world and life in general. It's much lighter than what I usually go for and it makes me feel as though I've in someway been carried back to a more innocent time.

Nadia–a girl with a secret past she's trying to forget.

Bran–incredibly poor, he has big dreams for a much better future.

Winter–she never thought she would have to get over her first love.

Jason–all he'd ever wanted was a family; a group of people that would love him.

Freya–she's always gotten her own way, and she's not going to let that change now.

Benjamin–he was just doing a favor; he never expected for things to go so wrong.

Tia–being kidnapped was the most terrifying experience she's ever had. She just wished it was over already.

I have lived my entire life surrounded by maple trees. And at every time of year, I have been attracted to the beautiful branches and leaves. It is a never ending sense of fascination to me, and that's what the characters of "Maple Leaf" feel: Fascination for life and for each other as they are clustered together for a short length of time. Then, as they age, eventually each leaf is sent fluttering to the ground alone.

I just thought it was a beautiful idea and working on this project has made me very happy. "Maple Leaf" is my panacea; siphoning out all my negativity and leaving only a pleasant serenity behind.

I find myself smiling and laughing more, and that is something I want to share with the rest of the world. I hope that everyone that reads "Maple Leaf" will experience the same happiness that writing it has given me.

~Much love to you all!

I am not dead! I'm just really lazy. #amwriting

I hate doing research!!! Okay, honestly, I had a good time this time :) Especially when it included watching a bunch of soap operas and flipping through magazines. That is truly the kind of research that I enjoy. I'm so lazy.

My little sideline, "Maple Leaf," is coming along very nicely and I'm tentatively hopeful that people will like it.

It's not usually my thing and I think most people would be kind of surprised that I'm actually that "sweet and sensitive" because I totally come across as HARDCORE! Okay, not that hardcore, but a bit hardcore. Or at least like an emotionless robot.

OMG, just saw this Quicken Loan commercial. "Will you marry me?" The girl has a shocked, maybe happy expression, then she lowers her hand from covering her mouth and it's more a "Oh crap, what now" expression. "I'm sorry, no. I think we should see other people. Especially your best friend." Made me laugh, even though it was kind of stupid. Still, I bet in a couple of years he'll be grateful that at least she was honest about it and didn't wait to tell him until after they were married or even after he blew a ton of money on a gigantic wedding.

Echo TPB

Wow, "Echo" has been a really big hit. I am honestly surprised.

It is set to be included in "The Brownstone Diaries," which will also contain "Bastian," "Topping," and the tentatively titled "Ai-Go" which will be released probably around mid-2012. Each story will be released separately as ebooks, since they are all novella length, then they'll be printed together. I just didn't think it would be worth it to have them all be their own separate TPB considering the cost of production for a paper book.

Still, Echo has done so well that I have made it into a TPB (only 80 pages!) and it is available for $5.99, which really isn't so bad. I just thought that more readers should have an opportunity to check it out, and it's perfect for me to include in giveaways and such.

I couldn't list it on Amazon without raising the price, but you can find it at its own page here==> ECHO

It was like I was lifted up by angels. Little tiny angel babies #NaNoWriMo

I was writing like crazy mad for the last two days and I did it. I didn't think I was going to manage it, but I hit my 50,000.

I had to skip over a chapter or two, so now I have to go back and add them in, but oh my God, how crazy is that?

As a reward, I'm buying Scrivener for myself and I need to get a microphone so I can use Dragon. But how completely awesome.

What's going on, you say? Awesome, that's what.

What's Up:

From Diamond to Coal–Okay, so I've got poisoned takeout food, dimensional travel, a dangerous assassin, blackmail, and a mm couple having a baby (not mpreg, though it was a very near thing. Sorry to all those that are disappointed.) I've got like 8 years to cover, but I've been kinda stuck on year one.

Heroes & Villains–Pretty much done with the editing. Should be sending it out tomorrow. Hopefully :S

The Matrix Effect–Yeah, I went there. I totally did. Should be supremely awesome. That or it's going to be incredibly terrible. I'm not quite sure where I am with that yet.

Fiends–A mm romance novella. Should be pretty smokey.

——-

And what's happening in my real life? Well, I went to the library and got P.N. Elrod's "Dark Road Rising," and L.E. Modesitt's "Arms Commander." Hopefully they're going to be as good as they look. I don't know, I've been having bad luck picking good books recently.

——

Also, if anyone knows how I can get Semagic to work with WordPress again, that would be totally the best. I might add your name to my list of special people (which may involve the receiving of cool stuff.)

update

Now that I've gotten my computer problems all handled, I've been getting back to the task of writing.

-I've made some definite progress editing "Heroes & Villains." 100 pages today!!! Wow.

-I added 2000+ words to "From Diamond to Coal" this morning

-And I'm totally kicking butt at "My Farm Life," one of those stupid time management games.

It's funny, but I've always kind of thought of myself as night owl, but it's obvious that I get the most work done during the early morning. So from now on, I guess that's what I'm going to be doing. Works good :)

Now all I have to do is figure out how to get Semagic to work again. I've managed to get LJ and DW up and running with it, but it won't work with WordPress. I dunno, I can log in and make my entries, but I just like being able to save drafts, write things when I want to, and just generally be able to post entries without opening Firefox. Mostly because every time I bring up Firefox, I have to spend an hour looking at different stuff and just generally poking around. There's a reason why standalone blogging clients were first created.

editing the beast #writing

I am running through "Heroes & Villains" again, making changes and prettying it up for print as a 6×9 trade paperback. It's kind of stressful, but I'm going at it with tenacious verve as I am aiming for an early December release.

What does that mean for the world at large? Free copies for some lucky duckies!

That's right, there will be giveaways. Not only am I part of the Christmas Blog Hop, but I will be running some other giveaways on the side. So keep an eye out on that, 'cause who doesn't like free stuff, amiright?

~Peace, love, joy.
