The Long Haul

Hello again everybody.

I am settling in for the long haul now. Last month I got a part-time job at a local 50′s dinner to help pay the bills. The good news is it means I’ll still be able to keep more projects coming, the downside is it will take a bit longer for each book since I’m not writing fulltime.

I’m hoping to have the next Assassin’s Rising novel out by late August. Time will tell of course. I’m also resurrecting a couple old projects in the mean time, which you’ll hear about as soon as they hit the shelves. A 50′s diner… Really?

Hey, Kaltor. It’s been a while. Where you been?

Trying to put a city back together. You?

Ummmm, washed dishes, prepped some food, and made milkshakes.

So, I’m supposed to return to my kin with tales of our mighty writer who… washes dishes and makes deserts?

Hey now, it’s the really good kind of milkshakes. They give you a metal tin with the extra ice cream!

I have little need for deserts. Do they not have anything redeeming over there?

Aside from a share of the tips? They have… knives! Lots of really sharp… ok, somewhat sharp knives.

Do you get to throw them?

Customers wouldn’t respond well to that. I do get to use the veggie slicers though, they’re so sharp I’ve split my finger open and not realized it.

Ohhh, that is sharp… very well, you have my disgruntled approval. How are your combat exercises coming?

Are we talking about life’s constant financial struggle to pay the bills? That’s going well.

… Oh maker’s might, don’t tell me you’ve become a couch potato? Summer is approaching. You want women to see you in your swim trucks and run the other way?

Ok, ok. I’ll add that to my list! Ease up!

After what you’ve put me through? Not likely. Get in shape or in the mornings I’m waking you to spar against me.

*Gulp.

Book Blogger Arianne Cruz has been kind enough to host a book giveaway on her blog of Decoy, along with a promotion of Deluge and Defiant.

By the way, if someone wins the giveaway but has already purchased a copy of Decoy, I would also be willing to switch that prize for one of Kaltor's more recent books. Hey everyone, great news! Defiant is now up for purchase as an E-Book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble's websites. Final Draft

Tonight I will be finishing the final draft of "Defiant", so all that remains is finalizing the book cover. I expect to have that figured out by next week

It's refreshing that this book has gone so smoothly. Thanks for your patience everybody. My next project before diving into the fourth book involves putting my 'backlist' up for sale as well. That's a fancy way of saying I'm pulling up some previous novels I've left unfinished, dusting off the covers, and putting them up for sale as well. I will be putting these stories up under a different pen name (they are from various genres) but I'll make sure to mention them here.

I still plan to get the fourth book in Kaltor's story out by this summer, so  I'm still working on this series as well

On Target

Hey Everyone,

"Defiant" is on target for the first week of April. Things slowed down here at the start of the week, due to my dad's hospitalization. His brain is producing too much CSF (cerebral spinal fluid), so they put in a valve to off-set the growing pressure. Granted, they had to put it next to his brain, so it definitely counts as a major surgery. One of the perks of writing full-time is when things get tight for the family, your work schedule is very flexible. I'm glad I was able to be there for my family when they needed me.

Bottom line, he is recovering well and "Defiant" is still on target. I'll be in touch with another update next week. Take care guys

Progress

Hey Guys,

Here's the latest about what's going on with "Assassin's Rising".

I just sent the rough draft of book #3, "Defiant" to my editor. My cover artist is also working on the e-cover as well, which hopefully will be ready to go by this month's end :) Things at home have been unusually quiet lately so I've had alot of time to put into this next book. I am surprised its come along so quickly this time!

"Deluge"  is now joining "Decoy" as a paperback book  You can purchase a copy of "Deluge" by clicking here, or by finding it under the "Assassin's Rising" Tab above. If you have a friend who prefers paperback books, they can purchase a copy of "Decoy" by clicking here.

For those of you who use other electronic devices (like Apple iBookstore, Sony Reader Store, Kobo and the Diesel eBook Store), "Decoy" and "Deluge" are now availiable in these additional venues through Smashwords.com.

Progress Report: I just finished the second draft of the third book in the "Assassin's Rising" Series, called "Defiant". I'll be sending it to my editor this weekend and am drawing up initial plans to get the book cover done as well. This next installment should be in place by mid-april, if not sooner

I’ve decided to change things up a bit. I’m adding a category called “Forgotten Chronicles”. Here I will post links to short stories written in memory of various characters within the “Assassin’s Rising” series. The catch here is anyone who is curious about the background of any character in Kaltor’s series, can email me at sbsebrick@gmail.com and request a short story detailing scene’s they’re curious about.

Once I’ve accumulated enough stories, I will be making them available as a short story collection in both electronic and paperback mediums. For now, they will be made availiabe in electronic formats for Kindles and Nooks alike.

For example, as a tribute to Kaltor’s friend, Jensai, I’m posting a story called “Son’s Bargain” which entails how the Battle Born Jensai first joined Master Taneth and his assassins.
