Pollygraph (interviews with erotica authors): Shiralyn J Lee

Why erotica?
I love to put into writing my secret desires and fantasies and unlock my hidden secrets.

What kinds of erotica do you write?
I write mostly for the lesbian comunity and my work has now delved into the fetish life of BDSM.

Tell us about your experiences as an erotica author. What have the big challenges and successes been?
I have found myself looking ino a world that until recently had been hidden from me, what I mean by that is I knew this kind of thing existed but I didn't understand it. The biggest challenge has been getting over my guilty feelings when I research the web, it would be nice if my wife involved herself more and gave me her insight. The success I personally feel is that I have been able to be more open about talking to people that I know in regards to the subject of my genre.

Do you write in other genres, too?
My work revolves around lesbians, BDSM, and Vampires, all are erotic and explicit. Anyway why would I want to write about any other genre?? I'm having so much fun in this catagory.

Do the people around you know what you write? How have they reacted, or how would they react?
Yes I am always talking about my books and discussing how I should name my next title.

Tell us about your most recent titles.
My next and most recent titles are SEX, BONDAGE and BRANDING; Ade is eager to be a mistress and is invited into the secret world of fetish BDSM. Tzar with many years of exprience in this field allows Ade to watch as she punishes her own slave, teaching her how to be a dominatrix. Tia is a submissive and has wanted Ade to be her mistress ever since she first saw her. When the two meet they form a bond and perfect their own sexual fantasies.

SEX, POWER and INTIMACY, 3 Short stories:

SEX: April being the main character is the girl who is blindfolded throughout her entire ordeal, her introduction into BDSM is an unusual experience but she happens to take to this life quite easily.

POWER: Is about Tess and Morgan; already in a relationship, things are taken to a different level when Tess allows Morgan to be sexually fulfilled by total strangers. The main scene takes place in a private carpark late at night where couples sit in their cars and watch as Morgan is taken by different women.

INTIMACY: Is based on Max and Jay; after meeting in a bar they soon form a sexual bond where BDSM and sexual fantasies are carried out.

Do you have a favourite, or favourites, among your stories?
My favourite story is Vampire Changeling. I had such passion when I wrote this. The outline of the story actually came to me in a dream, and then I researched Vlad and found out that he had a daughter named Zaleska, she was my twist into turning this into a lesbian theme. Then I included real life events such as The Great Frost of 1709 and the Battle of Malplaquet, using them as tools to support my story. This story is hot, sexy and will leave you wanting more.

How do you normally go about writing an erotic story? Is there much, ahem, research involved...?
I research the heck out of things, I have a need to know things, I watch videos, read the about true life incidents. I search the web for BDSM forums, and equipment. I have such admiration for these girls when they become submissive and allow their mistress to torture them freely.

Do you have any favourite erotica authors?
My favourite authors are Pat Califia and Suzie Bright.

And finally, what can we expect to see from you soon?
I am currently working on two stories, SEX, ROPES and CHAINS, yes another BDSM work and I'm also working on a collection of ghost stories with just a little bit of naughty scenes involved.

Extract - Danger Fucks: Personal Service

She stepped into the dress and pulled it up with a shimmy of her hips. It came to just above the knee, with a deep slit to one side. Far too risqué for Carter and Linley! She pulled it up over her breasts; strapless, it wouldn't stay up. As she reached back to do up the zip, she saw movement just outside the curtain. She poked her head out. "Er... Sorry, I don't know your name. Would you mind giving me a hand?"The young man glanced towards another occupied booth and then smiled. "Sure," he said. "What is it?"She pulled the curtain back and turned. In the mirror she saw him taking it all in: the way the dress clung to her butt, her hands clutching the top to her breasts, the exposed flesh of her back, the zip undone... how far down did the zip go? He must be able to see the lacy top of her French knickers. He went to her and with a single smooth movement he drew the fabric together and slowly slid the zip up.All the time, his eyes were on hers in the mirror. She realised she was holding her breath. That touch of his hand on her back as he pulled the fabric together!"You can let go now," he said, and she realised she was still holding the dress up over her breasts. She straightened, smoothed the fabric down over her bust, and his eyes never strayed from her body."See what I mean about that dress?" he said, finally. She nodded. "But...?""You look sensational," he said, "but the underwear's all wrong."She gave him a hard look. "'All wrong'?" she repeated. "What's 'all wrong' about my lovely new underwear? It's Beaujais, you know.""I know." So he had been able to see! "But... the straps."She glanced in the mirror, and then giggled. He was right: bra straps – even gorgeous bra straps – just didn't quite work with a strapless, shoulderless dress! She turned back to him and bit on her lower lip, giving a comical helpless look.He grinned, and said, "I could find you something?"Before she had time to think she had nodded and he was walking away and she was watching the way his butt moved, tight and compact in his slim black trousers. He was back in no time, suddenly nervous, his eyes not quite meeting hers. He handed her a couple of hangers strung with wisps of black lace and satin. "It's Lise Charmel."It was the range she'd been looking at earlier. Delicate blue satin with cream embroidered detail. Just how long had he been observing her, she wondered? She took them from him, held them up, raised an eyebrow. "Really?" she said. She waved the plunge bra at him. "It's beautiful, but straps?""Ah, yes, sorry." He looked genuinely embarrassed. "I... erm, I must have been distracted." And then he gave that smile that transformed the awkwardness to sheer, boyish mischief.Slowly, she shook her head."Shall I take it back?" he asked."It'd be rude not to try it, wouldn't it?" she said. As she spoke, her mind – and her heart – was racing. What was she doing? Just flirting, right? Just basking in the attention of a hot young guy who was passing his Wednesday morning by humouring her. That was all it was.She turned. "The zip?" she said.In the mirror, she watched him approach. His fingers hooked into the top of the dress at the back, his touch delicate, precise. She felt the release of slight pressure on her breasts as the zip eased down, and only just remembered to raise a hand to hold the dress up.It seemed to take forever, but finally the zip was all the way down. She saw him studying the exposed skin of her back, the black lace top of her knickers. She turned, glanced down and was sure his trousers were pulled taut at the front, straining against his bulging cock.As he backed away she out and the dress dropped to her waist, then she drew the curtain closed, shutting out the world. She wriggled out of the dress and hung it from a hook. Then she reached back and released the clasp of her bra.He was still out there, she was sure. She let the bra fall to the floor so that he must be able to see it through the gap beneath the curtain. She pulled her knickers down and let them fall by the bra. Looking in the mirror, she cupped a breast, pinching the nipple between thumb and forefinger. Her other hand ran down over her flat belly and pressed against the thumb-wide strip of hair at her groin. She pressed her middle two fingers against her pussy lips, cupping herself, her palm pressing against the mostly-shaved mound, against her hooded clit. Was she really going to play here in the shop while the gorgeous young assistant stood outside?(continues)

Your ass, my arse?

I asked this question of a bunch of my fellow erotica authors recently:
Here's my dilemma...

When I'm writing about anal sex, or even just that part of the body, what do I call it?

I'm British and my stories are usually set in Britain with British characters. So we call it an arse, not an ass. It just looks wrong to write 'ass', for me, and it would be out of character in my stories. Butt is very American too.

But my largest audience is in the US, so does it jar for American readers to come across the occasional arse, so to speak?

And I know it messes up my SEO: all those people searching for ass sex and butt sex won't find my very British arse.

What do other Brits do?

The answers came down very firmly on your ass, rather than my arse. Americans find English words intrusive and likely to break the moment. They'll even give up on a story altogether if it's too English. We Brits, on the other hand, are accustomed to reading American literature, so it's less likely to break the spell.

But what do I do as a writer? Most of my stories feature British characters in British settings, and I still find it difficult to have them say ass or even to use the word in descriptions. But now I'm wary of using my arse for fear it might put people off.

I'd love to know what readers think: do you find my arse off-putting? Do you prefer ass? Does it even matter, as long as the story is well written and horny?

Pollygraph (interviews with erotica authors): Annabel Bastione

Why erotica?
It's just one of those genres I find very fun and entertaining to write. You don't have to spend a lot of time thinking and planning out the plot or character development when you're coming up with a five thousand word short story. And I find that churning out sexy scenes improves my writing skills in terms of painting vivid imagery or metaphor creation. Plus readers love reading it so I'll keep on writing!

What kinds of erotica do you write?
I've dabbled in many kinds and come up with stories so convoluted  I have no idea how exactly to classify them. But right now I've been writing a lot of paranormal (vampires/werewolves) that sort of stuff and am thinking of moving on to ghosts and demons too :X

Tell us about your experiences as an erotica author. What have the big challenges and successes been?
It's been a short but pretty awesome ride so far. Many ups, you'll get this feeling of joy bursting from your chest watching more people pick up and (hopefully) enjoy your work.

A memorable challenge for me would be finding more distribution sites and reworking my stories so that they don't get pulled by censors. I think everyone has heard of the PayPal censorship debacle. I did write about 5 or 6 PI (pseudo-incest) titles so it was pretty troublesome reworking the PI out of them which ended up all for naught I think because Bookstrand closed my account and ARe deactivated majority of my catalog including the PI ones. I'm reminded here about how volatile things can be when a distribution site can shut you down at the click of a button. But one has to be dynamic and I think eventually, the authors will still survive.
The basic big 'successes' I've seen so far are pretty average, hitting different numerical milestones, but the one I'm proudest of was hitting 30 titles in less than one month. I worked like hell then and I'm still trying to keep up my once terrifying pace so yea, I guess I'm pretty proud of that. :D

Do you write in other genres, too?
I have some other literary creations in the works. Tossing around an idea of a techno thriller or two, but nothing written down yet. I guess I'll get to it when I'm finally bored of writing erotica, but I don't see it happening any time soon! Ironically I've also some baby books in the works as well. :X I'm partnering up with a friend who can do simplistic graphic illustrations that should hopefully attract kids for them.

Of course, they'll be out under separate pen names and publisher accounts, far far away from each other. I wonder what the parents will say if they find out that their baby's favorite author also writes mummy and daddy's favorite erotica. :|
It probably won't be a nice scene.
Do the people around you know what you write? How have they reacted, or how would they react?
My significant other is the only one who knows, and constantly sighs about the stories I have out. So I haven't tried telling anyone else. Other people who know that I write stuff think I write 'romances' and 'various fiction' so there ya have it.

Tell us about your most recent titles.
Awesome! I have this 9 part gay werewolf series under a different pen name. It's the 'Howling Moon' series by Brandy Corvin. I released it in threes and made 3 bundles of 3 for the whole series. It's the most popular bunch of stories I've had so far (even made it onto the ARe vampire/werewolf bestsellers list) so I'm pretty happy about that. Other than that, because I put out a new title every 2-3 days my 'most' recent title will soon become just my recent title in a day or two so there's not much to say about that.

Do you have a favourite, or favourites, among your stories?
Apart from the paranormal gay werewolf series mentioned above, my favorite short that I've written would be Tossing Caesar's Salad. It's also my first bestseller, the one that rose above the rest of my titles. It's a pretty messed up mishmash of stuff, it parodies the Shakespearean play of Julius Caesar where a bunch of conspirators stab him to death. Only this time, they do it with their, ahem, 'pricks'. Basically it's an epic MMMMMMM/m historical gay gangbang parody. How mixed up is that? Also, 7000 words of straight up gay sex seems to be popular with my readers. ;)

How do you normally go about writing an erotic story? Is there much, ahem, research involved...?
I'm sad to say not really haha. I just sit down at my laptop in my bedroom with a cup of green tea (exotic, I know!) and type.

Do you have any favourite erotica authors?
Too many to count. I don't know why but all the indie erotica authors I know are all so friendly, helpful and accessible. Makes me feel just at home being among them. :)

But my current favorite author is 'Frieda Wright' though (fellow authors should know what I mean). ;)
And finally, what can we expect to see from you soon?
A lot more paranormal stories under Brandy Corvin, some bundles coming out under Annabel Bastione, and maybe some erotic romances under another pen name soon!

extract: Getting Real (a Campus Sex Club story)

The piece was about a club. Ella called it the Campus SexClub. A place – although it wasn't really one place – where students and staffmet others for sex. From fairly tame dating to threesomes and larger groupsessions, with bondage and other kinks all thrown into the mix. 'No holdsbarred, but all preferences respected' was the only rule.

As Will skimmed through, he found that despite the clunkywriting style he was drawn in. He wanted to believe that such a group existed, holding their speed-dating and speed-fucking sessions on university premises, using master keys for out-of-hours access and back-handers to campus securityto look the other way. Or, for that matter, to look whichever way they wanted,as long as they didn't interfere.
So many cocks in one room! I lay there on the professor'sdesk. I don't know if the prof was even there or we were just using his room.Would he come in the next morning and see that his papers had been rearrangedand blame the cleaners or something?
On the desk, his sandwich lay half-eaten. For a moment, ashe glanced up at his desk, he wondered if they had a key to his office.
He dismissed the thought.
Ella's writing was as compelling as any half-decent porncould be, but that was all it was: fantasy, not the slice of life reality hehad asked for. If such a club existed he would have heard something about it, arumour at least.
I don't know. I just lay there, my head turned to one sideso I could service a long black cock with my mouth. I could only take abouthalf of it in before it hit my throat and made me gag but still the guy triedto ram it deeper. I think he was turned on by making me choke. His fist was inmy hair, so I couldn't do anything much about it and I just had to let him fuckmy throat like that.
I had another in each hand, pulling on them and rubbingtheir ends with the base of my thumb.
And then there was Jena tonguing my clit while an olderguy, maybe the professor, fucked me with his long, skinny dick. He was like ametronome and at first that just frustrated me but then it built up and builtup, him fucking me slow and steady while Jena's tongue flicked at my clit.
He sat back, uncomfortably aware of how hard he was, hiscock straining against his jeans. He reached down to adjust himself andrealised he was wet with pre-come, too.
There was a knock at the door and he sat forward hurriedly, very conscious of his straining erection.
"Yes? Come in."
It was Ella, a couple of minutes early for her appointment. She stood uncertainly in the doorway, then came in when Will gestured towards achair.

Pollygraph (interviews with erotica authors): Carl East

Why erotica? I found out in the year 2000 that I was reasonably good at writing erotic stories and have never looked back.
What kinds of erotica do you write? I write anything from PI to paranormal. Basically, whatever takes my fancy? I've even written a romance or two.  Tell us about your experiences as an erotica author. What have the big challenges and successes been? My experiences are mostly positive, but occasionally I've hit a bump along the road. For instance, in 2010 Apple decided to ban all erotic titles from appearing on the front page of their IBook Store. I had three titles on the front page, which suddenly disappeared. I can't complain though, as I've seen a lot of success in this business. I do wish though, that with all of this banning going on by people like PayPal, that people would realize that the stories I write are fictional.  Do you write in other genres, too? I've written PI, Incest, Romance, Sci-fi and Paranormal. Not necessarily in that order. lol  Do the people around you know what you write? How have they reacted, or how would they react? I'm not sure if my family knows that I write erotica, mainly because they all live in England and I live in America. I don't really care if they do or don't though. As far as my wife's parents are concerned, they don't know what I write and that's how it will remain. They are very old fashioned; both of them are in their eighties and wouldn't understand.  Tell us about your most recent titles. I'm working on two at the moment; one is called "The Monster in my Closet 2" and the other is "The House on the Hill 2" both of which are paranormal stories.   Do you have a favorite, or favorites, among your stories? My favorite story is "Hell's Gate" I enjoyed writing that more than any other and it was well received, at least by people with open minds.  How do you normally go about writing an erotic story? Is there much, ahem, research involved...? I normally wait for an idea to strike me and one always does, and then I start to write it down. I might only get a page done before going onto something else, but that page reminds me at a later date that I had another idea and that I should finish it off. Most of the time stories just flow, but occasionally they are stubborn and don't want to be born. I normally end up having to rewrite those ones. lol  Do you have any favorite erotica authors? Piers Anthony What can we expect to see from you soon? I will be doing more paranormal stories, because it's what I love to write.

How old are you Carl, if you don't mind me asking? 55 years young.  Are your books eBooks only, or do you have any in print? Yes, they are only eBooks, but I do have six that are also Audio Books. I might get around to putting one or two up for print, but I'm not in any hurry to do so.  What do you see as the future of eBooks? I see a time when there is more competition and prices are lower. At the moment, the big publishers are still over pricing their books and that has to change. I've even seen an eBook priced as high as the printed version and that's just ridiculous, although greed plays a strong part of it.  What is your opinion on what PayPal is doing? Oh, don't get me started on them. They have no clue what they're banning. I mean, how it is ok to marry someone who is a step-person in the family (Woody Allen, Morgan Freeman, etc.) but you can't write about it. How utterly absurd is that? Like I said, don't get me started on PayPal? lol  Do you know many erotic writers? Oh yes, a few hundred of them actually. Most of them are good people and all of them are from every walk of life, whether it be a lawyer or a minimum wage earner. What I've found with these people is that they are more passionate about the important things in life than anyone I know. They are open and compassionate, whether that has anything to do with the fact that they write erotic stories, I don't know, but I would guess it's because they have no hang-ups. They are people of the world or worldly people if you prefer.  Finally, I wish you well Carl and look forward to your latest stories. Thank you for answering my questions. You're welcome.

The missionary position

Erotica has many sub-categories, and I write and read quite a few of them.

Some categories just don't do it for me and even make me uncomfortable. Pseudo-incest (that is, sex between non-blood related family members - adult step-siblings and so on), bestiality, non-consent, barely legal... I don't write these, and I don't read them. As I say, they leave me uncomfortable.

In the last week or two, some booksellers have started to clamp down on these categories of erotica: All Romance eBooks, Bookstrand and others have been affected. Much of this seems to be driven by PayPal telling them they can't use its services for products it doesn't like.

That a private company can effectively ban sub-genres of literature worldwide, regardless of the fact that they are legal, makes me far more uncomfortable.

We can argue the fine points. On bestiality, for instance, it appears that erotic stories featuring werewolves are banned if sex occurs while the protagonist is a beastie, but not when it's in human guise. The fact that it's still a werewolf regardless of how it looks doesn't seem to matter. Vampires and aliens appear to be safe, for now, too. Maybe it's the fur that offends the moral police?

This may seem a trivial example to highlight, but I did so to illustrate how arbitrary the dividing line can be. And none of us have any say in the matter: the suits behind a payment company are drawing those lines on our behalf, deciding which of our perfectly legal kinks are acceptable and which are not.

So far, my work hasn't been affected, but I'm waiting.

I don't write much BDSM, for instance, but what will happen when the rules are rewritten to deal with that rather large set of sub-genres?

And what if our moral superiors decide that gay sex, or group sex are similarly beyond the bound? That really will screw with some of my subject matter!

It scares me.

This really isn't the kind position I like men in suits - or anyone else - to be taking about my work and life.

There really are alternatives to the missionary position, you know. Perhaps if they read some of our books it would open their minds?

Soundbite review: Locker Room Gangbang by Alexx Andria

There's just something about football players that really turns my clock, you know? I mean, they work out religiously, they understand discipline, and, if they're any good, they work well as a team.

The footballers in Alexx Andria's Locker Room Gangbang certainly work well as a team. Cheerleader Lindsey has already worked her way through most of the jocks at high school, but now she's at college she realises that she wants more than that. She wants them all, one after another. She wants an "epically dirty gangbang"...

How to make this happen? Well, the one place the footballers will all be together, and in various states of undress, is the locker room, so one day after training Lindsey sneaks in there, strips and... well that's what this sizzling ebook is all about. Needless to say, she gets far more cock in one go than she's ever had before, and she loves it. And so too, I reckon, will you.
