Weekend Musings

As is usual for an autumn Sunday morn, we started the day with a short walk, then applied ourselves to pumpkin pancakes, bacon, and newspapers. That accomplished, we seem to have set out on chores. Rick is mowing the lawn(s), while grandson #2 tackles weeding and raking. Myself – I have cleaned bathrooms, started laundry, and made cookies.

I should also run the vacuum cleaner. I really should.

*Warning: the rest of this is about health issues that may only be fascinating to me. I'll forgive...

Tests Show Most Store Honey Isn't Honey

Tests Show Most Store Honey Isn't Honey.

It's important to buy your honey from a local beekeeper. Look at farmers markets or natural food stores that stock local products. For instance, I buy my honey at Whole Foods, but the label on the jar says it's from bees kept in a backyard in my town.  I pass this house when I walk along a certain trail, and I like knowing the honey is the real thing. From the article:•76 percent of samples bought at groceries had all the pollen removed, These were...

In Prison? Hope you're not pregnant.

This post at Smart Bitches, Trashy Books is amazing and awesome and horrible, all at once. Romance author Pamela Clare wrote a book about female prison inmates giving birth. THEN she wrote a law to ban the practice of shackling these women to their beds while they give birth. So far, her law has been passed in twelve states.

Honestly.

Not Dead Yet

That's the good news. Also, my blood pressure is not as high as it was, although I'll admit to not taking it yet today. It iz what it iz, right?

Bridgebuilders is still crawling along, although I had a bit of a breakthrough this morning. No words added yet, just an idea that will let me get past a sticking point.

You know what the problem is? I"ll call it a "defect of imagination." I have a feeling writers aren't supposed to admit to that problem, but that's what it is. I cannot figure out how ...

Here's Your Cooking Post

I'm overwhelmed these days, to the point that I'm having panic attacks. My heart will start racing and pounding hard enough to bruise my chest. My blood pressure is higher than it's ever been. Which isn't saying much, because it's never been high before. But it's high.

So forgive me if I throw out another food post from my the old blog. I chose this post because evidently I was feeling lethargic on this date in November, 2009.  The title of the post is Using Leftovers. That's a useful topic...

Welcome Darke! I understand you've got the second half of an interview with character Barbara Dole. (For the first half of the interview, go here, so you know what got Barbara so...

If I'm not writing posts for this blog, at least somebody is: tomorrow, there will be a guest post!

Darke Conteur is the author of The Watchtower, a book about the privileged few who really understands what lies in the shadows.  Darke will post the second half of her interview with character Barbara Dole. Be sure to step in for Paranormal Pit Stop Tour.

In other news, health and family matters are taking up my time these days. I'm barely keeping afloat, but as is the Way of Things, these...
