What Does It Take For Breastfeeding Success? | Evolutionary Parenting | Where History And Science Meet Parenting
Her first point is my mantra: “…we need to see more women breastfeeding at home, in public, in churches, in restaurants, wherever and we need to see them breastfeed babies, toddlers, preschoolers, or any kid who wants it who has a mom who’s happy to give it. We need it to just be something people see and experience so they know that they too can do it. In fact if there is ONE thing alone we need, this is it.”

Hello again and happy news…
Jack’s story is full of hope for anybody who is racing to the bottom. Yes, luck plays a huge role, but I love what she did with the luck she got.

Science Shows Something Surprising About People Who Love to Write – Mic
Science Shows Something Surprising About People Who Love to Write – Mic.
Okay, this post is a bit of a departure for me. This is not stuff I talk about much, but this article reminded me of how much the act of writing changed my life. I think it’s good to share it once in a while.
It doesn’t surprise me that writing affects the writer. In fact, I think it could be an example of how magic works by changing our brains, which is really not magic at all – it’s chemistry. But that’s part of what mag...
Food Politics » Do artificial sweeteners cause–not cure–glucose intolerance?
This study was fascinating and completely resounded with me. Of course, it would – like Marion Nestle, I try to not eat anything artificial, so foods sweetened artificially never appealed to me. However, I do...

“Oh Look… a Squirrel!”
This post is brought to you by my friend and crit partner,Lani Longshore, who today talked about her distracted quilting. I’m stealing her idea, because it occurred to me that this is my approach to writing. I just don’t stay focused.

Yes, children are a distraction, even when they’re grown up.
This is why I start a book, write a couple of chapters, and…

Yes, grandchildren are also a distraction.
So anyway, I write a couple of chapters, get...

New Toys
New toys, but hopefully useful ones. We both got new phones, with Himself finally making the plunge to a smart phone. So we’re getting them set up with apps and games, and just generally getting used to them. Also getting them used tous,as I have a Galaxy S5 with a personal assistant that takes some effort to teach.
You know the cliche about the 40-year-old geek living in his parents’ basement, who never moves from his tech equipment, with mounds of soda cans and take-out boxes around, and has...
