How We Hate Women Birth Anarchy

Only when women submit to authority are they acting in their own best interests.

Only when women lower their heads, offer a compulsory nod, lay back, and do as theyre told, are they good mothers.

Only when they concede their selfish autonomy to someone else who knows better, are they, themselves, to be trusted.

Only when women obey have they made the right choice.

Family Brunch

The kids will be here soon. In the meantime, I think I’ve found a new Christmas favorite. This is the steamed pumpkin pudding. Pretty, no?

A Cooking Post: Christmas Eve Day

It’s Christmas Eve and for the most part, watching calories is done for a few days. I’ve got Christmas Brunch with the family (those that can make the trip) tomorrow, which means today is a prep day. Cooking and baking must commence. And I – Ialwayslick the bowl.

In addition, today was a banner day, for it’s the first time in about three months that I was able to schedule a CSA delivery. There was a BIG box of vegetables and fruit, fresh from a local farm, on my porch this morning! I don’t kno...

How Goes the Diet (…er, Food Lifestyle)?

As we all know, dietingdoes not work, at least in the long term. If you want to keep the weight off, think, lifestyle. You have to eat real and healthful food (and not too much of it) for the rest of your life.

Himself is fond of saying that he might not live to an old age, it will just feel like it.

Perhaps. Or we can truly enjoy the “real and healthful” food. I enjoy it and I love to cook it and experiment with it. Food porn always gets my attention. The kale as much as the cupcakes.

Because.

The...

Rant: Once Upon a Time

It saddens me to do this, but Disney is forcing me. Honest.

I’ve watched Once Upon a Time since its inception. It was one of my favorite shows. I like retellings of fairy tales, especially when they’re brought into modern times. I thought this one was quite clever. I liked the characters, even the villains. I liked the back-and-forth between the worlds as we learned who each character had been before the curse. I liked the various twists on the characters, such as an adult Snow White living as...

Snakes and Leaves. It Must be Autumn!

We’ve had wonderful rain around here, at last. The soil and plants are so happy. Water is awesome.

I love rainy weather, especially when it’s cold. Sweaters, scarves, gloves… for me they trump constant sun and heat anytime. I like my hot weather in short bits.

Due to our recent time out of town earlier this month, the leaves in our yard got a huge head start on us. We came back to half-empty trees and leaves covering every inch of the front yard, side yard, sidewalk and several inches of the st...
