Born in 2004 in the historic lands of Ninive, once known as Babylon, Lihad Izdin Shamo—who also goes by the name Astivan—has been blending ancient inspiration with modern creativity since day one. Now living in Germany, Astivan has channeled a lifelong fascination with art into a vibrant passion for drawing, which still remains one of his favorite escapes from reality (or, perhaps, his way of creating new ones).

Astivan’s love affair with the written word began with poetry. After devouring countless verses, he soon found himself scribbling his own, discovering that words, much like art, can paint vivid pictures—just without the mess of spilled paint.
