“Transanimalism,” the Newest EP by Anderwelt
Founded in 2013 in Linz, Austria by former members of prominent local bands, Anderwelt made their debut in 2015 with the album Schattenlichter. This release showcased the band’s exploration for new and uncharted sounds—a challenging endeavor given the vastness of heavy metal music today. However, with their more recent works, including Trinity of Decay, an award-winning music short film, and the stunning follow-up album 2084 (Electric Fire Records), it became evident that their search was successful. 2084 garnered widespread acclaim, with critics praising the band’s masterful balance of “dystopic and extreme contradictions,” blending fast and atmospheric riffs, clean and distorted cello sounds, and a dynamic range of clean and screaming vocals to create a majestic musical experience.
After two intense years of live performances featuring a new light show perfectly synchronized with their auditory program, Anderwelt returns with their latest single, “TransAnimalism”. Building on the themes explored in 2084, the single once again delves into dystopian, futuristic, and societal questions—this time imagining what might happen if superintelligent machines were to fall into the hands of endangered animals. The release is accompanied by another cinematic video, which you can watch on Youtube on 9th november.
Transhumanism is a posthuman movement that seeks to use technology to extend human life, separate the mind from the body, and enhance both physical and intellectual capabilities. Although the realization of these ideas remains uncertain, transhumanism raises significant ethical concerns. It could exacerbate inequalities, foster alienation, and challenge the very essence of what it means to be human. At its core, transhumanism can be seen as an assertion of placing oneself above nature and any divine forces, real or imagined.
In the classic tradition of Anderwelt, blending serious reflection with satire on futuristic societal issues, their new single “TransAnimalism” explores what might happen if transhumanist technology were accidentally discovered and used by animals in a post-apocalyptic world. Would they, like humans, ultimately pursue power and immortality, accepting the collateral damage that comes with it? Or would they find another path—one that embraces their biological and mortal nature instead of rejecting it?

“In her place” – Film on Netflix: Beyond a Classic Thriller, an Intimate and Socially Deep Female Portrait
“In her place” is a Chilean Netflix film starring Elisa Zuleta and Francisca Lewin. It is directed by Maite Alberdi and based on the book by Alia Trabucco Zerán.
“In her place” is a dramatic film that begins as a thriller but gradually transforms into an intimate drama as the story unfolds. “In her place” stands out for its original approach, offering a different kind of cinema, a unique perspective, and an entirely distinct vision from what we are typically accustomed to.
Plot
A woman has coldly murdered her husband in plain view at a restaurant, using a firearm. There is no question that she is guilty. However, a woman working for the court sees another truth behind the eyes of the killer. As she delves deeper, she begins to uncover her own truths and starts to transform her own life.
About the Film
This film is a standout opportunity for actress Elisa Zulueta, who takes on the challenging and ambiguous lead role, which is rife with connotations. It is a role that allows her to shine, especially with the international exposure that Netflix provides. Zulueta makes the most of this opportunity, delivering a complex and universal portrayal of a woman and her environment, as well as her societal role. “In her place” begins as a thriller only to defy that genre, presenting instead a psychological portrait of a woman with universal aspirations. Additionally, it offers a remarkable social depiction of 1955 Chile, highlighting themes of female liberation and delivering a profoundly feminist narrative about women’s roles in society.
The film will undoubtedly disappoint those expecting a Hollywood-style thriller, but it will appeal to a specific audience of men and women seeking a well-crafted, period-specific social portrait that is both intimate and richly detailed. The story delves into the societal fabric of 1955 Chile, with the murder serving merely as a catalyst for the deeper, more personal journey of a woman taking control of her life.
Cinematically, the film offers a superb portrayal, characterized by a slow-paced narrative and a slight tendency towards melodrama, yet remains true to its novelistic roots. “In her place” achieves its intended portrait with precision and strikes the right tone. This is a film that successfully captures the essence of its characters and their world, making it a noteworthy addition to the genre of socially conscious cinema.

‘Uprising’ on Netflix: An Epic Korean Adventure Depicting Nobles, Commoners, and Slaves
“Uprising” is a Korean movie starring Gang Dong-won, Park Jung-min, Cha Seung-won, and Kim Shin-rok. It is directed by Kim Sang-man.
“Uprising” transports viewers to the grandiose realm of Korean cinema, presenting an epic tale filled with adventures, class struggles of the medieval era, slave uprisings, and, most notably, breathtaking combat scenes. This film centers around one of the Japanese invasions of Korea, weaving a narrative of friendship, bitterness, and vengeance between two childhood friends who find themselves divided by social status and circumstances following the arrival of the Japanese.
The film showcases a series of stunning, highly impressive scenes, particularly during the Japanese invasion and the climactic finale. Director Kim Sang-man displays his directorial prowess with visually dynamic sequences, rich in photographic contrasts, and powerful in editing and sound design. These sequences undoubtedly make “Uprising” worth watching for its epic and spectacular treatment, brimming with sound effects, dramatic leaps, and dazzling flames.
When it comes to the screenplay, character development, and storytelling, the movie presents a starkly different picture. Although it is a historical fiction film based on real events, it features fictional characters. This aspect of the film falls short, presenting a narrative of nobles and slaves that fails to convince with its main characters and their stories. These elements often feel like mere placeholders or justifications for the battle and combat scenes. Consequently, the characters appear forced and unnatural within the realm of fiction, serving more to affirm the historical theses that the film espouses rather than standing out as individual personalities.
If you are looking for a family-friendly movie, “Uprising” is not the right choice. The film is replete with pervasive violence aimed at achieving visual grandeur: severed heads and limbs, gushing blood—these elements serve more to create spectacle than to advance the narrative.
Thus, “Uprising” emerges as a commendable Korean production, meticulously crafted with epic grandeur and a carefully curated aesthetic. However, its narrative and character development are often neglected, which at times detracts from the otherwise spectacular combat scenes. With a focus on visual splendor, the film may leave viewers wishing for a more coherent and compelling storyline to match its impressive visuals.

“Lonely Planet” Premieres on Netflix: Is It Just Another Romantic Comedy Set in an Exotic Locale for Your Friday Night?
“Lonely Planet” is a movie starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth. It is written and directed by Susannah Grant.
Romantic comedies set in exotic locations are a bit like holiday celebrations: they all share a similar structure with minor variations, yet somehow, year after year, they manage to keep us coming back for more. We find ourselves repeatedly indulging in the same familiar formula, film after film.
“Lonely Planet” fits this mold perfectly. It’s one of those movies that, due to its repetitive nature, won’t linger in our memories much beyond the viewing experience. It’s entirely formulaic, adhering faithfully to the conventions of the genre, featuring two well-known actors in a picturesque setting.
Let’s be honest: this formula has been repeated so many times that it has been refined to the point where it’s almost impossible to say anything new about it.
The plot transports us to a writers’ retreat, where a weary and somewhat unsociable author (played by Laura Dern) crosses paths with a banker who feels out of place among the literary crowd (portrayed by Liam Hemsworth). Amid the boredom, the charm of the locals, and the allure of the exotic landscape, a spark of attraction begins to flicker between these two opposites.
“Lonely Planet” boasts characters who, while moderately convincing, fit neatly into the generic framework typical of such productions. The actors share undeniable chemistry and deliver competent performances. The script is well-crafted, effectively pacing the narrative as required. Everything is executed proficiently.
However, does it surprise us, grab our attention, or make us want to watch it again? Not at all. “Lonely Planet” becomes yet another addition to the ever-growing list of exotic romantic comedies. It worked for William Wyler in “Roman Holiday” (1953), and the formula has been repeated and refined ever since.
As is often the case with the streaming platform, there’s a message here too: age doesn’t matter. This time, the message is relatively conventional and aligns with the social ethos of the platform and its target audience.
As a film, “Lonely Planet” offers little to the genre and even less to cinema as a whole, ultimately becoming another disposable piece of entertainment, quickly consumed and even more swiftly forgotten.
Enjoy it, if you will, because even its runtime is formulaic: a mere ninety minutes.

Outer Banks Season 4 on Netflix: Beaches, Youth, Adventures, and Treasures
“Outer Banks” is a Netflix series starring Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and Madison Bailey. It is created by Shannon Burke and Jonas Pate.
The most youth-centric series returns to Netflix with the highly anticipated fourth season of “Outer Banks,” now divided into two parts, presenting a brand-new mystery. This time, the plot revolves around an ancient amulet linked to a legend of none other than Blackbeard himself. New season, new treasure, and fresh adventures for these modern youngsters.
Plot
After years of treasure hunting, our friends seem to have finally found stability when they come across a grand treasure to sell, which promises to change their lives. After selling it and receiving the staggering sum of one million dollars, the group quickly realizes that, after purchasing a few items and indulging in some eccentricities, the million dollars barely covers the taxes. Consequently, they are compelled to accept an offer to find Blackbeard’s secret amulet. Thus begins the fourth season of “OBX.”
About the Series
“Outer Banks” is, at its core, a series aimed at young audiences: beaches, attractive boys and girls, a youthful ambiance, and other related themes. It skillfully combines these elements with a somewhat classic adventure narrative centered around treasure hunting. This blend has proven to be a hit for the producers, captivating audiences more than critics. However, this series is not particularly concerned with cinematic critiques.
“OBX” delivers exactly what the audience desires and does so astutely: attractive characters (emphasis on attractive) endowed with the naivety, passion, and youthful rebellion that resonates with viewers. The series avoids excessive fuss and strives for that successful formula for young audiences, scene after scene, without worrying about universal appeal. It often relies on youthful clichés but remains unapologetic about it; it repetitively uses close-up shots and constantly depicts this idealized notion of friendship filled with idealism.
Then comes the adventure and treasure narrative: engaging, full of twists, and akin to a modern rendition of an R.L. Stevenson novel, brimming with mysteries and maritime themes.
This fourth season is split into two parts, with Netflix already releasing the first five episodes. Fans of the series will be thrilled as this season builds on the successes of the previous three while introducing an exciting new mystery. It’s a series that has evolved and refined itself since its debut in 2020, now fully aware of what it needs to offer and how to deliver it to the legions of young fans who have followed these characters’ escapades from the beginning.
It’s not necessary to have watched the series from the start to enjoy this fourth season. New viewers can jump in and become hooked without any prior knowledge, as the new storyline starts almost afresh and, despite introducing new characters, is completely revamped.
So, if you enjoy beaches, idealistic youth, and hidden treasures, “Outer Banks” is sure to delight you. Enjoy the show!
