Claire Danes in Homeland season 6, Caitriona Balfe in Outlander season 2, Stana Katic in Castle season 8 or Katheryn Winnick in Vikings season 4? 2016 promises to be a fantastic year. Who are your favorite actresses? Who do you expect to meet in 2016? Here, my favorite choices.

Claire Danes in Homeland
Last year, Claire Danes was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. No doubt, she deserves it. Since 2011, she has starred as Carrie Mathison in the Showtime series Homeland, for which she has won two Emmys and two Golden Globes. Remember that on December 9, 2015, Homeland was renewed for a sixth season. We need to see Homeland season 6 soon!
Maybe you also like this post: Homeland season 6. What do you expect from the upcoming episodes?
Caitriona Balfe playing the role as Claire Randall/Fraser in Outlander (Starz) is one of the most romantic and epic feminine characters that everybody is waiting to see again. Don’t worry! Outlander season 2 will return in spring 2016.
Stana Katic playing the role of Detective Kate Beckett in Castle season 8 returns on February 1, 2016. New funny episodes of this classic TV show are waiting for us! Don’t you love Stana Katic? For sure! She and Nathan Fillion, playing as Richard Castle, are one of the sweetest couples on TV.

Katheryn Winnick in Vikings
Time ago, sexy Katheryn Winnick joined History Channel’s Vikings, starring in the role of Lagertha, a legendary figure in Viking history. On March 26, 2015, History renewed Vikings for an extended fourth season of 20 episodes, which is set to premiere on February 18, 2016. We cannot wait for it!
Thus, Claire Danes, Caitriona Balfe, Stana Katic or Katheryn Winnick? Who are you waiting to meet in 2016? Tell us your opinion now!
Claire Danes returns soon! Take a look!

Chicago Exhibitions. Art NXT Level Projects (formerly 33 Contemporary Gallery). GATEWAY. Curated by Janice Bond

Split Second by Lucy Slivinski (sculptor)
Whether overtly and dynamically, or in subtle, subliminal ways, objects, symbols, and people speak to us. Gateway examines these transmissions, multiple dimensions of reality interweaving biological anatomy with spiritual energies and the psychoerotic.
The connection between mathematics, the human form, and art goes back thousands of years. For example, the Garay alphabet that was devised in 1961 by Assane Faye, a Senegalese artist, is used often as the written language of the Wolof. Abstract signs, ideographs, cosmograms, and symbols are deeply significant in indigenous expression, yet such were often long dismissed as either devoid of meaning or merely ornamental. In a relatively recent paradigm shift, it is now widely acknowledged that abstract or nonrepresentational pattern languages and body gesturing of non-Western traditions often provide cohesive, versatile, complex, and sometimes subversive systems of meaning that inscribe core cultural themes and knowledge.
This exhibition invites the viewer to explore the anatomic to academic; ancestral to abstract channels we utilize to access and communicate with each other.
Featured Artists include:
Jason Mc Phillips
Jerome Lagarrigue
Liz Mares
Lucy Slivinski
Natasha Kohli

Looking for a New Year’s resolution? How about helping more birds to fly..

Give the birds a helping hand this year
That expensive gym membership may help the way the outside world sees us, but what about committing to a New Year’s resolution that’s good for the soul and great for nature; how about helping more birds to fly? Bird food companyHaith’s is encouraging more of us to take up the hobby of bird feeding and they’re contributing to the cost with their affordable “Help to Fly” range of seeds, feeders and foods.
There’s much written about the benefits of feeding the birds; supplementary bird feeding presents a helping hand when “natural” food is scarce.
Often, this scarcity can be at times of the year when birds require nutritional enrichment such as during the breeding season when dry spells can harden the ground and make it near impossible for ground feeding birds to extract worms – leading to a protein deficiency in the diet when protein is needed for youngsters to develop healthily.
However, there’s very little written about the enjoyment people who feed the birds experience in return for feeding wild birds. It’s almost as if it’s supposed to be a chore.
“Well, it’s most certainly a routine task when done correctly,” explains Simon King, Associate Director of Haith’s, “however; I’d never suggest that it is a chore. Although I do accept that we all have a certain responsibility to feed wild birds because – amongst other things – their habitat has been gradually destroyed leaving their future predominantly resting on their ability to adjust from “wild” to “garden” birds.”
More than half of the UK’s population feed wild birds and the truth is, it’s fun! It’s rewarding and enthusiasts get a great deal of satisfaction from observing bird behaviour and feeding habits as species learn to live together.
“Some days it’s happy families – other days it’s pistols at dawn and survival of the fittest, which in bird language often means survival of the biggest. That said, I’ve seen one or two Robins square up to much larger species when there are mealworms on the bird table!” says Simon. “There’s rarely a dull moment in a busy bird garden.”
Supplementary feeding is good for the birds and it’s good for we humans, too. Plus it can complement other interests; for example, many people enjoy amateur photography and the birds make great subjects; they’re photogenic and a reasonably priced camera will capture their aerobatics and feeding station antics.
Haith’s say that it doesn’t matter how big or how small a bird garden is, all that matters is that more of us decide to feed the birds this year – to begin a wonderful new relationship with wildlife and to enjoy embarking on a New Year’s resolution to engage more with nature.
“What could be more enjoyable than helping more birds to fly this New Year?” asks Simon King. “Give me a charm of Goldfinch raiding a bird feeder bursting with juicy sunflower hearts, and I’ll leave the treadmill and Lycra running shorts to those who look better in motion than me. I’ll keep fit by filling the feeders and watching the birds as they prepare for the breeding season. That’s got to be better than Celebrity Big Brother any day of the week.”
How to get started:
Visit Haith’s “Help to Fly” page as they’ve committed to keeping a range of seeds, feeders and foods available at special prices to encourage more people to help birds fly.

Teapot Trust Founder Awarded MBE in Queen’s New Year Honours List

Laura Young MBE
Laura Young, founder of East Lothian-based charity theTeapot Trust, has received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s New Year Honours List in recognition of her services to chronically ill children in Scotland.
Laura and husband John Young founded the Teapot Trust in 2010 after seeing the gaps in the care of their daughter Verity, who suffered from Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) and also cancer before her tragic death, aged just eight, in 2009.
The Teapot Trust provides hospital-based art therapy to children with chronic illnesses in seven Scottish towns and cities: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Dundee, Aberdeen, Kirkcaldy and Melrose, plus Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
In 2015, the Teapot Trust provided over 3,000 hours of art therapy and interacted with 5,215 children.
On receiving the award, Laura Young said, “Being given an MBE is a great honour and it is wonderful to have recognised the work that we’ve been doing over the last five years. Of course, the award is testament to the contribution of our therapists, support team, volunteers and very kind donors, who make our work possible.
“Our operations are steadily expanding and although we are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in 2015 we want to place more art therapists in hospitals further afield to help more children with medicalised routines next year.”
Being named in the New Year Honours List is the latest of many awards and recognitions that Laura and the Teapot Trust received in 2015. In December the charity received two awards at the Charity Champions Awards: Charity of The Year (income under £250,000) and Children’s Charity of The Year.
Laura and John Young, co-founders of the Trust, were named Points of Light by David Cameron in June and Laura was given an honorary doctorate from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in July.
Renowned Scottish artist and playwright John Byrne also donated his painting ‘West of 8th’ to the charity, which was auctioned by Lyon & Turnbull for a staggering £20,000 in in December.
The Teapot Trust provides art therapy in medical settings for children with chronic illnesses. Laura said, “Art therapy is a powerful tool and makes a huge difference to the lives of chronically ill children.
“One of the most difficult things for many children is expressing themselves verbally – the great thing about art therapy is that it provides an alternative medium of communication.
“This builds confidence, which helps children cope with their conditions.
“If children are worried about being in hospital, or for example frightened of needles, art therapy can also be used to help them to relax.”
The main focus of 2016 for the charity is to continue providing its current services and fundraise for a programme of research. It also hopes to begin one-on-one work in the Borders and begin a group art therapy session in the outpatients department of St John’s Hospital, West Lothian.
The Teapot Trust also hopes to raise enough funds to start providing art therapy to the remaining six NHS regions of the Scottish Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology Network (SPARN).
It receives no statutory funding and, with little confirmed year-on-year income and no investments, relies completely on donations to continue its operations.

A renowned thought leader in the technology sector, Wrennall brings 20 years’ experience to his new role. He spent the last five years as CTO of Fujitsu UK and Ireland, overseeing 1,200 architects and driving change across all areas of the business. At both organisations, he drove savings of £600 million and led IT and business transformations that have helped shape how UK businesses interface with the public sector.
Wrennall will lead in a collaborative, quick paced environment, where he will enhance the quality and innovation of Advanced’s products.
Wrennall says, “I cannot think of a better time to join Advanced. The business is going through an exciting period of growth and is investing heavily in software development, so I see this as a massive opportunity to build on the broad set of products and services.
