Debut Etiquette

Happy New Year guys!

This post is for fellow Apocalypsies who have a book coming out in the near future. It's a strange feeling having a book debut with other fabulous authors. It's like high school—the class of 2012. Fortunately, I feel a lot cooler than I did in high school.

For those who don't know, LIVING VIOLET is out in stores, and this holiday I had the pleasure of going out to the bookstore to see it on the shelf. There's nothing more gratifying than seeing all your hard work and...

Holiday Wishes

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to wish you all a happy holiday. I hope you get everything you want under the tree and pile on the goodies on your plate. May you survive holiday traffic and family drama. Bask in the company of loved one you only see once a year, and be thankful that it's ONLY once a year. Stay warm, sane, and free of sickness, and be wary of what other people cook. Wear the most ridiculous holiday sweater you can find without shame…and send me pictures. Re-gifting is not a sin, but...

Book Two Anxiety

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know what I've been doing lately— writing my butt off.

Thanks to a discussion with fellow Apocalypsies members, I thought it would be a good idea to share my experience while writing the follow-up to a series. It's not easy and it usually results in tears, self-loathing, and panic. So, I'll give you the rundown of what I went through:

• Wrote a 5-page outline from beginning to end on what I wanted in my story.

• Called all my friends and explained the story in g...

Team Edward, Team Harry, Team Who the Hell Cares!!

As you all know by now, the Harry Potter phenomenon has come to a close, and the Twilight Saga is following fast behind. During the wild ride of wands and sparkles, there has been a great deal of strife between the fandoms over which series is better. I have my personal view on both books and I won't share them publicly, because well… it's friggin' personal. However, I will express my disdain over the Special Ed battle itself. As Breaking Dawn hits theaters this week, the trolling wars are...

INTERVIEW With Jodi Meadows

Hey guys. Here's another interview with another fabulous author from The Apocalypsies group who I happen to be stalking part-time. (I do have to sleep) Not only has Jodi Meadows not pressed charges, but was kind enough to grant us a peek Inside the Writer's Notebook. Her debut YA fantasy INCARNATE, (Katherine Tegen Books/HarperCollins) explores life, love, and whether recycling is good for the soul. A play on words? Maybe? Intrigued? Hell yes! Let's get started.

So Jodi, tell us a bit about...

3 to the 1: Happy Birthday To Me!!!

Behold! A true relic from the 80's, back when I was light skinned with curly hair, and could fit in any small storage compartment or hand bag. Those days are long gone, but the legend of my epic birth lives on through annual retellings at 5AM by my mother. Seriously though, I looked like an alien when I was a baby. What's up with that right eye? Did the nurse punch me out? 0.o

It's that time again, folks and I am pleased to report that I found one gray hair. Any other time I would have...

Color Outside the Lines

It's one thing for adults to enjoy my YA books, but it is another thing completely when an actual teen reads my story. With that said, I used my 12-year-old niece as a test subject along with a few of her friends who are in their early teens. They enjoyed the storyline, even pointed out the scenes that made them laugh out loud, which made me do the Snoopy dance in public. That's where the victory party ended.

I asked the kids if they would recommend the story to others, and they said yes. The ...
