Published to Createspace
Consequences is now published to Createspace. It is the same story with a few grammatical and structural changes. The best change is that the print is larger. Test audiences have overwhelmingly approved of the new font!
Soon, this version will be available on Amazon.com as well as other channels. This has been a very educational experience regarding formatting! I hope that readers will enjoy this new edition (and I am thrilled to not be associated with Xlibris Publishing- the subject of another blog when I can write, without the fear of saying something I will regret). Please check out this version, and recommend it to all! https://www.createspace.com/3808969Consequences

DIALOGUE...
I love writing dialogue... I truly feel that a great deal of information and emotion can be shared in dialogue... given that tid bit of information, what did we learn during the Manning / Ersay dialogue this afternoon?
Side knowledge. I am a true Colt's fan. Yes, I have loved Payton Manning. Now, he is going away. What can we learn from the press conference?
Even great sports legends can have emotions! Both Payton (#18)and Ersay had difficulty articulating their feelings. That is understandable.
The part I find difficult to understand, is Brian Williams, referring to the Colts as Baltimore Colts??? Excuse me, Brian you are 57 years old! The INDIANAPOLIS Colts came to Indy in 1984, when you were 25 years old! Explain how you could possibly refer to them as the Baltimore Colts??? Do you simultaneously say, VHS when referring to a DVD? or perhaps BETA? Okay, maybe you tell your assistant to copy the file to a "floppy" when you actually mean you want at file on your external hard drive? or on a flash drive?
I find the reference to the "Baltimore Colts" ridiculous!
New Flash! Payton Manning NEVER PLAYED for the Baltimore Colts! He did however play for the INDIANAPOLIS Colts... and those of us in Indy, and surrounding areas, love and loved him! Please DO NOT diminish his memories by bringing in some ridiculous episode, that occurred when Payton was only 8 years old!
I truly wish he could retire a Colt. I will love and admire him forever.
But, when Tim McGraw sings about football next fall, I will root for the Indianapolis Colts. If Payton Manning is wearing another jersey, I wish him success and happiness. He will however, never share the place in my heart with Reggie Miller... just saying! "I love you Reggie! I love you Payton!" Aleatha smiles and turns her head. Only those close, know her true thoughts... yes, Jeff is her true love!

Super Bowl Withdrawl
Many of you may know, I live just south of Indianapolis, Indiana. As all of you should know, Super Bowl XLVI was at Lucas Oil in Indianapolis... let me say, we, those of us in close proximity to Indy have been hearing about the Super Bowl ever since the committee approved Indianapolis as a site.
Now it is over. How can that be? I mean, I didn't do anything too special. But I have decided that IF Indy does get another, I am definitely signed up to volunteer! This year being a snow shoveler would have rocked! (It was about 50 degrees!)
I did have the fun experience of helping a friend at a catered event that needed additional servers. My job was "clearer" in other words I came up to your table and said, "excuse me, may I take that plate". I have never been a waitress, and I know my main character is a bartender... but I had no idea how hard the job could be! My feet were killing me by the end of the night. But the best part was the attendees of the event... The New England Patriots, family, administration, cheerleaders...
I am a blue blooded Colts fan. As such, I must cheer for Payton's little bro, Eli... but I must say, the Patriots and their families were VERY nice! I enjoyed my experience. (I wasn't able to say good luck... the words just wouldn't form) But I do hope I portrayed good 'ole Hoosier Hospitality!
Now.. it is almost 2 weeks post Super Bowl. I met a friend downtown Indy for lunch. It is so slow and quiet. The underlying tension of "will we" or "won't we" pull this off? Is gone... I must say, I miss it! Super Bowl Committee... bring the game back to Indy! We loved you, and you loved us! If you are on that decision making team, send me an email and I will gladly bribe you with a free autographed copy of Consequences! Thanks for the opportunity to showcase our great state and city....after all, Claire Nichols (my main character) is from Fishers Indiana. (Wonder where I thought of that?)

Hooray!
Consequences is once again available for sale! It can be accessed through my web site: www.ConsequencesByRomig.com
I am so pleased... it is like the contractor that tears apart your kitchen, leaves town for two weeks, comes back and you are of course happy to see him! Although you have been desperately trying to reach him everyday and called him every name under the sun. When he walks in and finally starts doing the job he promised two weeks ago, you want to hug him!
OKay Xlibris, I want to hug you right now. THANK YOU for finally doing what you promised two weeks ago. I can only hope Barnes and Nobel will be notified soon. Happy Day!

Frustration
As a first time author I have made some mistakes. I found 9 mistakes, mostly grammatical in my novel Consequences. I approached my publisher, Xlibris, about these. I was told I could make the changes and after I approved them, my book would be unavailable for sale for 3-5 days. One representative told me 24 hours. It has now been 2 weeks. I have sent untold number of emails and not received an answer as to why. Truthfully many of my emails have gone completely unanswered. There is even some discrepancy as to the date Consequences went "unavailable".
I believe deciding to go through a "self-publisher" was a mistake. If you are thinking about going this route I recommend that you seriously consider other options. I am now actively seeking representation by a literary agent. I pray that someone will be interested in representing me and Consequences.
The good news is, I have been met with very positive reviews from readers and I own 100% of my rights re: Consequences. Therefore, I can move to another publisher if I receive an offer.
I have heard self-publishers like Xlibris be referred to as vanity publishers. I would have to agree... perhaps "black hole" publishers... they constantly ask for money for this or for that. Yet, when I have valid concerns, I can't get anyone to respond. And I believe after two weeks I have been given them ample time to do so. Now I want to share my Frustration with others, to hopefully help you avoid this pain!
Thank you to all the readers of Consequences, I certainly hope it will be available again soon!

September 14, 2011 Review Posted on Barnes and Noble
A mixed bag of emotions!
At the behest of many friends and family reading this, I picked it up for my Nook. Psychological thrillers aren't my usual genre I like to read, but from the first chapter I was hooked instantly. The plot is unorthodox, I had no idea where we were going till we got there; although there were a few innocent teasers along the way. I love a book that doesn't follow a set recipe for success, and this one hit the mark. The writing style was very fluid and it was like watching it unfold right in front of you as though it were a movie, or as though you were a character in it. It's got a heroine you want to pity and smack all in one. It's got a bad guy so ruthless that no other bad guy in any other book I have ever read compares to his absolute sadism and degradation. In the end, you're left without any words to express what you've just experienced, other than "Wow.." and close the book with a smirk on your face. An awesome read!
