Time to tame the trolls?

I seem to be writing a lot about this, lately, but the level of online abuse seems to be spiralling, and the level of woman-hating that seems to exist in certain quarters is deeply depressing.

Here's my latest Fangirl Unleashed column, on the evils of trolling.

Fangirl Unleashed Column

Those of you who follow geekery on the internet will know there has been a rather vicious debate going on around the idea of 'fake' girl geeks. Here's my take on it - the title is rather a giveaway!

Fangirl Unleashed: Why The Wolverine is better than Pacific Rim on gender and race

Yes, yes, I know I harp on about these things a lot, but honestly how hard can it be to write believable and interesting female characters? How hard can it be to cast actors of different ethnicities? I must admit to being surprised, on seeing two of the big summer blockbusters which both seemed to offer hope on this front how much better one was than the other (and not the way I expected...)

Fangirl: Was Keanu Reeves' Constantine as bad as you remember?

I must admit I have a soft spot for Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz and Tilda Swinton, so I'm possibly biased, but is this version of the comic character as bad as people said at the time?

New Fangirl Unleashed - more diversity in 2014

Anyone who has read my columns before might be tired of my constant refrain of 'more representation' in media: yeah, but I'm not shutting up any time soon.

So here's my latest piece on what I'd like to see more of in the TV, movies and comics in 2014 (with a nod to what I liked in 2013)
