The Hardest Part of Sharing Your Story

The hardest part about sharing your testimony is the shame. The shame that is intertwined with what has happened in your past that you may have done, or what has been done to you.

The problem with finally being vulnerable enough to pour out from the depths of our heart is that we need to face our fears. The fear of failure and the fear that if someone actually knew our past, then they would judge our future. Or maybe they would stop liking us, or even stop loving us.

We have all started belie...

Do Not Conform…

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2

I would most certainly say hope is my word for the year. But my scripture for the year has got to be Romans 12:2. I can’t remember where I heard this scripture, but I remember when I did it stuck with me. It stuck with me because conformity is my norm.

My first reaction upon waking up in the...

“Just Watch Me…”

Late last year there came a point where God spoke to my heart and encouraged me to just sit and watch what He will do. Up until then I had been working to control about every single situation in my life, in particular I was trying to control my husband’s illness. I wanted him better and I was determined to see that happen.

In my efforts I sent out prayer requests everywhere I could think of. I had faith that God would heal my husband. I believed and I prayed. There was one point where I praye...

A Year of Hope

My word for 2013 is hope. Which I think is fitting since my word last year was faith.

As I sit here and look at how God has started off this new year, all I can think about is how this year will be the year that I finally see God’s sovereign will at work.

You see, He has a sovereign will for everyone. Often we are more concerned with our will and the things we want. Our prayers and our life often reflect this. Then we lose faith and hope when we do not receive what we ask and hope for. We wil...

The Hat Lady

Today I made my usual weekly run to Target to buy things like toilet paper, an ink cartridge for my printer, and new calendars (woohoo Happy New Year!) It was a crazy trip, one where all three of my kiddos weren't feeling well, and neither was I. It certainly took longer than I cared for the trip to take.

But something happened on this shopping trip as I was checking out. There were two ladies in front of me. One lady looked like she had already been through the check out at Target already,...

Trials and Temptation

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. (Matthew 4:1, 2 NLT)

Often this scripture can cause confusion because in James 1:13 it says God cannot tempt you. But if we look closely at this scripture it says The Holy Spirit led Him to the dessert, He did not tempt Jesus but instead led Him to a place of suffering where the devil was going to be there to tempt Him.

The fact is God will no...
