K-lee Klein's Blog: Chaos in the Moonlight

Dirty Dozen Blog Hop with TM Smith

Today I'm welcoming T M Smith to the chaos. We're both involved with the Dirty Dozen Blog Hop and we've got a great giveaway! Make sure you enter the draw at the end of the post. Here we go...
~ * ~ * ~
Amy Wasp - What is your favorite trope to write and why? Menage. It's very detailed and engaging and requires the right balance to be believable. This challenges me as a writer and makes for a better story.
Jeff Adams - What’s your favorite part of the writing process and why? Getting to know the characters. I always have a vision of what they look like, sound like, their personalities. But they always evolve as I put them to paper. It's almost like raising children in the way they continually grow and develop over time.
TM Smith - What inspires you to write? An outlet for all the voices in my head.
AE Via - What career would you have if you never would've published your first book? Pharmacy I suppose.
Lynn Michaels - How do you balance being original and giving the readers what they expect/want? I do a lot of research for each book I write. I want to put an element of reality in all my stories, but I also want to weave in something different and unique to give the story an edge.
JR Barten - What have you done as a writer that you are most proud of? Published my first book!
Morningstar Ashley - What genre and trope would you like you write that you haven't yet? I do have some concepts that are M/F romance that I want to complete at some point.

Deanna Wadsworth - How do you come up with your character's names? I research names and meanings a lot and try to find a name for a specific character that fits their story.
K-lee Klein - Do you usually have only one project on the go or do you multitask between stories? Only one, it's hard enough to keep up with that much.
Jessie Gin - What do you think makes a good story? A book that pulls me in from the start and keeps my attention throughout. I like flawed imperfect characters, bad guys that are redeemable.
Wade Kelly - What is your suggestion or piece of advice to new and upcoming authors? Never entertain the negativity. There is always going to be someone that doesn't like your work and you have to be able to look at that and then let it go. Does it bother you? Do you feel less than as an author because someone wrote a negative or discouraging review? Yes, of course you do. But do not, I repeat, do not engage. Take stock in it, learn from it, evolve from it, but at the end of the day, you have to let it go. I have a close knit group of friends that are writers and we bounce our words and thoughts off of each other. It makes it easier to deal with the negative reviews and doesn't put me in the spotlight with readers for responding to one on Amazon or Goodreads directly.

The Archangel Trilogy book 1

Eons have passed since the moment Michael came to be General of the All Father's army in Heaven, the protector of mankind. Michael has been in love with Lucifer for as long as he can remember, their relationship second only to his oath to All Father. But lately, Michael has begun to notice cracks in the surface of their bond, sensing that his lover is not as angelic as he seems.
Lucifer is the All Father's first creation, the bringer of light, his Morning Star. He sits to the right of the throne, as he's done every day since the dawn of time. Two things were tasked to the archangels from the start.; put no other before the All Father, and protect the humans he cherishes. Lucifer challenges both sacred rules. He puts his love for Michael before his love for his creator, and he questions his creator's wisdom when it comes to the atrocities he has seen committed by mankind.
One will fall, while two remain and grow stronger. A battle of wills is on the horizon...Not only mankind, but the fate of all beings will hang in the balance.

NEW RELEASE - Jamie Lynn Miller - Memory's Prisoner

MEMORY'S PRISONE R by Jamie Lynn Miller
If m/m amnesia stories are your thing, then this is the book for you!
SUMMARY:
Detectives Mitchell Reid and Joseph Valentino of the Chicago Police Department have finally moved from friends to lovers, partners on the job and off. Their new-found happiness is short-lived, however, when an escaped felon with a thirst for revenge shatters their world. The police tactical raid to recapture the convict goes horribly wrong, leaving Mitch severely wounded and Joey with a devastating head injury that plunges him into a long-term coma.
Two years later, Joey awakens with partial amnesia, which has erased a year of his life, including the knowledge that he and Mitch are lovers. Unwilling to force Joey back into a relationship if his feelings for him were no longer there, Mitch can only suffer in silence as he supports Joey on his long road to recovery, hoping he will remember the love they once shared.
NOTE: This is a second edition of a previously published book that has been re-edited, revised and expanded by 10,000 words
~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Joey turned to leave, but Mitch stopped him with a firm grip on his arm.
“Joey….”
Blue eyes locked with blue, the connection the two men shared never more apparent than at that moment, a myriad of emotions flashing across both their features.
“I know,” Joey whispered. Then he was gone, moving into the darkness.
Taking up his position with the rest of his team, Mitch was still nagged by the feeling of unease at seeing that flash of light. Despite trying to convince himself it was probably nothing, he reached once again for the FLIR binoculars. He concentrated only on the ground this time, at the bottoms of the crates and boxes, where he had seen the first flash. At first, there was nothing, but there, there it was again. A quick flash, then it was gone. Mitch held still, waiting. Another flash. And then to his right, in his peripheral vision, another one. This time recognition slammed into him like a freight train, just as Tim and his team raced around the corner toward Doyle’s hideout.
Oh, God.
Explosives.
“No! Wait!” Mitch cried out, scrambling from his position against the wall, racing around the far end, weapon drawn.
Too late.
The first explosion lit up the night sky in a brilliant ball of orange and yellow fire and smoke, taking with it the crate the bomb was in and the first two officers, their bodies tossed into the air like feathers. The warehouse windows shattered from the inside, automatic gunfire spraying out, cutting down another of Tim’s men. Cries rang out from the injured officers as the rest of the team returned fire and scrambled for cover, trying to reach their fallen comrades.
Mitch ran full tilt into the battlefield the dock had now become, firing as he went, the rest of Team Two right behind him, hearing Tim bellowing out orders to the remainder of his own team. Mitch reached the first wounded officer just as a second crate exploded, knocking another man off his feet, wounded as well.
The air was thick with smoke and angry gunfire as Mitch pulled the unconscious officer at his feet to relative safety before racing back into the war zone, determined to end this. Fearing the remainder of the crates were also rigged with explosives but seeing nothing else to use as cover, the detective holstered his weapon, unclipped the flash-bang grenade from his Kevlar vest, and began his dangerous one-man assault on the warehouse.
Counting on the darkness, the smoke, and Tim and his men to keep Doyle and his men busy, Mitch moved stealthily to the far side of the dock. Trying not to draw attention to himself, he slipped from crate to crate, drawing ever closer to the windows of the warehouse.
He almost made it.
Mitch crouched at the corner of one crate, preparing to slip to the next closet one. The flash from a rifle’s muzzle inside the warehouse caught Mitch’s eye as it illuminated the gunman.
Doyle.
Their eyes locked and a twisted grin crossed the psychopath’s face. Mitch’s cover had been blown. A split second later he heard the ominous click of the triggering mechanism inside the crate he was leaning against and Mitch knew he had seconds to live.
Launching himself up and away from the crate, heedless of the gunfire surrounding him, Mitch desperately tried to put as much distance between himself and the bomb as he could. Four frantic strides were all he could manage.
The force of the explosion threw him off his feet and hurled him forward, wave after wave of intense heat and debris at his back, before he slammed down onto the dock. Excruciating pain like he’d never known raced through his battered body as he rolled across the wooden surface before coming to rest on his back. Dazed and winded, fighting unconsciousness, Mitch heard Tim frantically calling his name. His head lolled to the side as he tried to answer but his gaze caught sight of the torn, bloody mass of flesh that was his left leg.
“No! Mitch!”
Joey’s cry of utter terror drew Mitch’s attention from his mangled body. He looked up to see his partner racing toward him, surrounded by Team Three, weapons blazing. Uncaring of the extreme danger he was in, Joey charged forward in a desperate rescue attempt, his fear for Mitch written all over his face.
Horrified, Mitch tried to call out, managing only a hoarse whisper. “No…get back….”
Two feet from Mitch it happened.
Another crate exploded, sending huge pieces of debris through the air. Unable to slow down or change course, Joey plowed directly through the explosion, his head suddenly snapping violently to the side as a large piece of wood impacted it.
“Joey!”
The scream was torn from Mitch’s throat as he watched his partner’s expression change from one of terrified concern to one of total confusion as the wood hit its mark and his body crumpled down onto the dock.
The nightmare had begun.

NEW RELEASE - LAZY SUNDAYS!

It's a little dusty in here but I'm going to try to clean it up and keep it that way.
The perfect place to start is a new release, and coincidentally, I have one!
Lazy Sundays was released on September 26, 2018!
The original Lazy Sundays was a free short story I wrote in 2011. I followed it up with a little sequel called Lazy Valentines.
This version of Lazy Sundays is not just a rerelease. On top of the massive editing/rewrite I did on both books, I’ve also added more than 70,000 words to Devon and Scott’s universe. This is an opposites attract romance between two unlikely partner and I'm pretty proud of it. I put a lot of me in Scott Weston. He and Devon have to learn trust and patience while they fall head over heels in love with each other. They suffer through a little angst, a dash of fun, and a whole lot of love. I hope you enjoy their story.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
~~Of course, with a new release there's always a giveaway! I'm giving away an ebook copy, a paperback copy, and an Amazon gift card. Check it out at the end of the post.
Now here's an excerpt.

And it hadn't been nearly as terrifying as he'd expected, at least not the whole time. There'd been excited screaming at first, followed by Scott losing his voice altogether and pressing himself as tight to Devon's back as was humanly possible. He'd totally felt Devon's chest-shaking laughter too. Jerk.
But it hadn't been terrible and he hadn’t died from fright or anxiety or careless driving. And the truth was, Scott felt exhilarated after—once he'd found his footing, his knees had remembered how to work, Devon helped him wrench the helmet off his squished brain, and he realized his partial erection didn't make him some kind of freak. Who knew being vibrated to within an inch of his life could also make him excited in the down there department.
It was a total win on Scott's short list of total wins. It did feel a bit like flying as Devon said, minus the actually leaving the ground and being stuck in a tin can for hours on end parts. Scott had never been on an airplane, and luckily, riding behind Devon didn't make Scott want to throw-up like just the thought of getting in an airplane did.
But Scott had found enough courage to lift his head once, wanting to feel the wind in his hair like he saw in all the movies. Of course, Devon had the hair for that, not Scott, and the facemask totally blew that idea out of the water. He'd contemplated trying to flip the mask up like Devon had done, but that would have required relinquishing his white-knuckled hold on his driver. Plus, he had a vivid image of falling off the bike because of a silly need to have a little breeze in his face.
He tried resting his chin on Devon's shoulder and opening his eyes to get the full effect. But the full effect had involved being instantly assaulted by dizziness so he surmised the original plan of staying snuggled close against Devon, arms wrapped as tightly as he liked, was far better and safer. So he'd concentrated on the intoxicating smell of fresh leather, and even with his face shielded, Devon's scent had soothed and made him more comfortable. It was ridiculous but apparently effective.
And Devon was proud of him. He'd actually said the words. "Proud of you, sweetheart." Scott was positive no one had ever said that to him with or without the sweet endearment, but at the same time, he wasn't entirely sure how he felt about it or even how he should act when someone offered such praise. It was foreign to him except in terms of doing a good job at work, but that was so completely different.
Devon being proud of Scott oddly made his whole life seem worthwhile. It sounded dramatic and totally messed up even as he thought it, yet it made his insides wiggle and his heart flare against his ribs. Suddenly he understood all the sappy references to love changes everything because Scott felt like a changed man. At least until he stumbled over his own feet and ended up ass-first on the sidewalk.
"Shit," Devon said, crouching beside Scott. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were still dizzy."
Scott scoffed at him unintentionally. "I wasn't. Tripped over my own feet. How proud are you of that, Dev?"
~ * ~ * ~ * ~

Scott Weston’s car is sensible, his suits are bland, and his job is stable but boring. Mundane routine helps keep his anxiety and obsessive tendencies under control. Socializing—especially dating—isn’t on his list of strong skills either, and, made worse with the echoes of his disapproving mother. So he’s content to stay at home with his lists and cleaning and wildlife documentaries, until a one-night stand goes unexpectedly right.
History has taught Devon DuCaine that dating can be uncomfortable, but there’s just something about Scott. He may be the opposite of Devon’s own long-haired, tattooed, free-wheeling spirit but he brings out the nurturer in Devon. Maybe it’s Scott’s surprising fascination with Devon’s motorcycle, or his shy surprise in moments of affection, but there’s more under those sensible suits than meets the eye. The most important person in Devon’s life, his mom, taught him love and compassion and that’s all he wants to share that with Scott.
Their one-night stand turns into a regular thing, but Scott doesn’t trust it to last. He’s pretty sure Devon is hiding something. He’s even more sure that once Devon gets to know him, the attraction will fade. And then there’s his mother. However many sparks fly between them, Devon will have his work cut out to convince Scott they can have their happily ever after.

Flash Fiction Monday - Just a Chubby Kid from Brooklyn

Just a Chubby Kid From Brooklyn
When the sun moved lower in the sky, reflecting brilliantly on the water, Saul knew it was time to put-up or shut-up. Technically, he'd already put-out so how hard could putting-up be?
He snuck a glance at Jim. He was relaxed back on his elbows, the strong planes of his face turned to the weakening sun, and his legs splayed every which way. Saul often wondered if he'd ever be as comfortable with his own body as it seemed everyone else was with theirs. The memories of being teased and taunted as a teenager, the fat-shaming and gay cruelties, were still fresh in his mind even after more than ten years and a significant change in his body.
He wasn't that chubby kid anymore, but at times, he still saw only that guy in the mirror, could only feel the knots inside that bullied teenager when he was interested in someone. And he was really interested in Jim. In reality, he had nothing to lose by expressing himself, but fear tended to twist a vise around his heart when he was reaching deep for courage. Much as the way it was crushing him right then.
"You…um…" His voice trailed off while he flattened his palms in the sand, searching for a something to ground him so he could get through a few simple words. "I was thinking maybe we could…I don't know, grab something to eat after. You know if you're into that. Not that I'm pushing for another date—shit, that's not the right word either."
The sand sifted through his fingers as a thread of anxiety pressed against nerves, twining around his heart and sending heat to his cheeks.

"Yeah." The reply was more automatic than realized. He didn't dare look at Jim, didn't want to see the pity or disgust playing on his face, foreshadowing what Jim had to say.
"You know I asked you out in the first place, right?" Jim's tone was even but light, yet Saul couldn't detect amusement in his voice. He struggled with an answer that wasn't awkward or silly, but Jim beat him to the punch. "Because I like you. I'm not sure what happened between last night and now but that hasn't changed for me."
Saul swallowed around the tension in his throat before peering up from under the brim of his hat. Jim hadn't changed positions, still long, lean, sun-kissed limbs and warm, brown eyes. "Really?"
He flinched when Jim suddenly shifted towards him, looping an arm around his shoulders and leaning in close. "Really," he said, licking his chapped lips. "And I kind of hoped you felt the same way."
"I do. Yeah. Definitely."
"Then how about kissing me to seal the deal?"
So Saul kissed him—once, twice, ten times before the sun set, then forty after a week, one hundred more after a month, ten-thousand more after a year. And if Jim ever saw that chubby kid rear his insecure head, he just held Saul tighter and kissed him more.

This is my first try at this. I'm hoping to keep it up every week.
This is from Moonstone - Stone Magic book 1
~~The decor had a strong resemblance to the magnificent door with the river, but on a much larger scale. It was bright but dark at the same time, the concrete walls enhanced and stimulated by the paintings and artwork scattered haphazardly throughout the room. When Ky finally stepped past Blue, he couldn’t keep himself from dragging a finger over the closest mural by the door.
It was painted directly onto the dark purple wall, a brilliant and almost fluorescent skull as the main focus. It was hard to miss since it had to be three feet across and five feet in height, but, as he inspected it closer, more intricate flourishes and detail came to the light, so to speak.
Within the confines of the amazing blue head were people - small but effervescent people.~~
~ * ~ * ~

Ky’s a fighter. Blue’s an artist. But together they are truly magical.Ky’s fought his way to the boxing championship for the third time, but now the fight of his life isn’t against an opponent in the ring. He’s battling a darkness within himself that he can’t ignore and can’t control. If he fails, everything he’s spent his life working for will be gone, and he can’t see a path to victory. Only a hunch sends him looking for help in the most unusual places.Blue’s a quiet guy, living for his family and the art of his tattoos. He’s created his shop, Blue’s Dungeon, to be a place for the celebration of art on skin—simple, friendly, and mostly uncomplicated—and Blue likes it that way.But when Ky shows up in Blue’s tattoo studio, desperately searching for a lifeline, it’s the beginning of something magical for them both…

GRL Dirty Dozen: Alexa Land is here

Dirty Dozen Blog Hop: Alexa Land
Hi K-Lee! Thank you for hosting me. I’m looking forward to seeing you at GRL!
If you could spend the day with one of your characters, which one would it be, and why?
The obvious answer is Nana Dombruso, because that would be a damn good time!
What are you working on currently and what's its inspiration?
I’m working on Worlds Away, the thirteenth book in my Firsts and Forever Series. It’s inspired by a couple of my characters, Sawyer and Alastair. We’ve met them in previous books in the series, and now we’ll get to know them a lot better!
If the lead character in your current novel were to read your other books, which one would be his/her favorite and why?
I think Sawyer (who’s ex-military and a no-frills kind of guy) would enjoy my paranormal books. I could see him getting into The Tinder Chronicles, because they’re a little grittier.
If all of your MCs were thrown into a strange and dangerous world where survival relies on ingenuity, creativity, common sense who would come out on top?
All of my boys are survivors, that’s an ongoing theme throughout my series. Since they’ve overcome a great deal in their lives, I think they’d all thrive in an environment like that.

What musician or album do you think people should listen to as they read your work because it fits the soul of your words (either a specific title or your writing in general)?
Each book actually has its own theme song, and they vary a lot in tone and style. For example, The Distance was inspired by the Cake song with the same name, and Who I Used to Be is a line from a Nine Inch Nails song (Something I Can Never Have). The song Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper doesn’t influence my work-in-progress as directly, but it’s woven throughout the narrative.
If you could be one of your characters and live their life, who would it be and why?
Tough choice! The easy answer would be Nana Dombruso, because she has so much fun and lives a fantastic life. But instead, I’m going to say Skye, who’s a free-spirited, wonderfully creative artist in a beautiful relationship. Plus, I’d love to rock his blue hair!
If you could be a fruit, any fruit, which would you be and why?
A big, red, ripe tomato, because it’s an oddball! No one thinks of it as a fruit, it doesn’t fit in. But where would we be without pizza sauce, and all the other lovely things tomatoes can do? J
What is the thing you enjoy most about gatherings like GRL?
Getting to meet and talk to people from all over the country and the world. The fact that we’re all readers or writers of gay romance creates such a wonderful sense of community!
What is the most vivid romantic moment from any film that has lingered the longest and meant the most to you…. and why.
The kiss in Brokeback Mountain, when Jack visits Ennis at his apartment after four years apart. It’s so intense, so urgent, and says everything about those two characters. The movie’s ending shattered me, but that kiss!! (SAME, ALEXA. SAME.)
If you could take any fictional couple or character (television, movies, real-life, books) and add them to one of your books, who would it be and why?
Brian Kinney from Queer as Folk U.S. God, I love that character! It’s so easy to write him off as an asshole, but the writers of that series did a fantastic job giving him layers and nuance, and really bringing him to life in a way you just don’t see very often in movies and television.
What kind of quirky habits do you have before or during the time you write?
I become nocturnal when I’m writing. I’m not sure if that’s a quirk or a glitch! I do some of my best work between the hours of eight p.m. and four a.m., both because that’s my natural wake cycle, and because I work well in total silence. My readers joke that I keep vampire hours!
When you write, do your characters hijack the story, or do you keep a tight grip on the reins?
They totally hijack the story, and I’m happy to let them! I love the exhilaration of letting my characters take the lead. They go off on the most surprising tangents!

Dirty Dozen blog hop - K-lee Klein

This year has been a difficult one for me since Amber – my main publisher – closed their doors. I was left with a number of books with no home and I'm still working on republishing them myself. In May, I managed to snag a great opportunity with Dreamspinner when they republished the book dearest to me, Unbreak My Heart.Additionally, I dipped my toes in self-publishing in 2016 with my new series, Welcome to Loveland. There are two books in the series so far – Lucky in Loveland (February, 2016) and Lost in Loveland (September, 2016 - my newest release.)
I'm part of the Indie publishing group so I will be selling books at GRL, both in the main sales room and at my author lounges. I also have a Q & A, and you'll probably see me wheeling around the retreat with my Walker-stalker. Hugs are some of my favorite things so if you see me, step on up and say hi!
OH! Don't forget to enter the Rafflcopter draw for the Dirty Dozen blog hop - one lucky winner will receive 12 ebooks. And now without further ado, I give you my answers to the questions asked by each of the 12 authors in the blog hop. Thanks for stopping by.
~ * ~ * ~
TM Smith – If you could spend the day with one of your characters, which one would it be, and why?

Jeff Adams - What are you working on currently and what's its inspiration?
- I'm just finishing Gimme Shelterand it was inspired by violinist David Garrett and the cellists from 2Cellos. It was originally a sub-call for Rolling Stones songs that, unfortunately, didn't pan out because my publisher closed its doors. Gimme Shelter is sweet but angsty story about breaking free from expectations and I hope to have it out this month.

- I'm pretty sure Lucky Roberts from Lucky in Loveland and Lost in Lovelandwould love Unbreak My Heart because he's a hopeless romantic who believes in taking things slow. Unbreak My Heart is a very slow burn love story, just Lucky's style.
Jake C. Wallace - If all of your MCs were thrown into a strange and dangerous world where survival relies on ingenuity, creativity, common sense, who would come out on top?
- I'd have to say Chrys and Bryan from my Perfect Moments series that unfortunately is in limbo because I need to republish it. Both guys are street-smart and on the S.W.A.T. team so I think they'd kick some ass, but do it in a very creative way.
Brandon Witt - What musician or album do you think people should listen to as they read your work because it fits the soul of your words (either a specific title or your writing in general)?
- The book (series) that comes to mind first is Unbreak My Heart because the inspiration for the main character was actor/country singer Christian Kane. Christian's music was all I listened to when I wrote the book and some of his songs are theme songs for Brett & JT's relationship.
Morticia Knight - If you could be one of your characters and live their life, who would it be and why?
- Damn. I seem to keep giving the same answer—Brett Taylor. He's got issues, but he's also had success in a profession he loved (and who doesn't want to be a world renowned musician) then dug deep to build a new life after a lot of heartbreak. He's strong, beautiful, and has a heart the size of Texas. Plus, he has the love of JT Campbell—angel on earth.

- Lol. My answer is strange—of course, that's not new for me. I would be a plum because it's canon that Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier from the Captain America universe) loves plums. And it's also canon that I love and am totally addicted to Bucky Barnes.
Jordan Hawk - What is the thing you enjoy most about gatherings like GRL?
- My main reason for going to GRL is the people. I'm very solitary person, more hermit than anything else. So despite my social anxiety, I look forward to the hugs and chats and just being around all that love. Did I mention the hugs?
LE Franks - What is the most vivid romantic moment from any film that has lingered the longest and meant the most to you...and why?
- The scenes between Ennis and Jack in Brokeback Mountain have always stuck with me and have been romantic plateaus I've tried to reach in my own writing, even as cliché as that sounds. There was just so much passion and pain behind every kiss and moment of intimacy that even thinking about it makes me emotional. Recently, I saw a film called Holding the Man. It's from a memoir and is tragically sad. There are scenes near the end where one of the characters is sick and the other tells him he's beautiful, but rather than tell him he's full of crap because he's bald and skinny and looks so much unlike himself, they look into each other's eyes and kiss. That kind of stuff is what I live for.
K-Lee Klein (answering my own question, yes) - If you could take any fictional couple or character (television, movies, real-life, books) and add them to one of your books, who would it be and why?
- I'm an open book when it comes to this question. My fictional heroes are Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Bucky Barnes (the Winter Solider). They need to have a universe where they can be together as the soulmates they've always been. Maybe they could move to Loveland and Lucky could teach them to play hockey or they could hang out at Brett's ranch and chill. I'd gladly have them in any of my book universes.
AE Via - What kind of quirky habits do you have before or during the time you write?
- One of my favourite writing spots is the tub. It that quirky? My Bucky-Pad and I spend a lot of time in there. Apparently, my muse loves water. I also like to write with a favourite movie playing in the background...over and over and over again. And I often do both at the same time. Maybe that's more obsessive than quirky. I'm also very nocturnal in my writing and my muse excels at night.
Alexa Land - When you write, do your characters hijack the story, or do you keep a tight grip on the reins?
- I'm definitely more of a pantser than a plotter. My characters and my muse are very, very bossy men. I write for them and they keep a tight grip on my reins.

Blurb
Loveland, Colorado is a special place, a community of creativity and art, with scenic views and majestic mountains. The city brought Lucky and Jack together, but staying that way will take more than cold-air kisses and sweet valentines.

Lucky Roberts is in love—hook, line, and kitchen sink. He wants to shout his feelings to the rooftops and scatter little handmade valentines all over the world. He thinks he's okay with not being perfect, and knows Jack isn't perfect either. But when his own past rears its ugly head, Lucky discovers that old habits die hard. Maybe opening his heart to Jack won't be enough— maybe he just isn't enough.
Jack and Lucky risk getting caught in limbo between the past and present if they don't have the strength to share the skeletons in their closets. To move forward together, they have to find the courage to look back…together.***

K-lee Klein loves guys with long hair and tattoos, and you’ll often find her front and center at her favorite rock concerts. She has bounced around Western Canada all her life, but will always consider the solitude and beauty of the British Columbian mountains home. Her life is blessed as the proud mother of three now-grown but still spoiled kids, the servant of two bossy felines, and the wife of a truly patient husband.
Her writing muse is terribly temperamental, so to keep him close by and in check, she had him inked on her left calf. The gorgeous, long-haired, mostly naked, kneeling angel that resulted is truly a work of art, although he’s still a handful and hopelessly uncontrollable. She writes on his schedule and inspiration.
K-lee tends to fall easily into obsessions. When something grabs her attention, she jumps into it headfirst with complete abandon. Actors, musicians, superheroes, fictional characters, and brainwashed assassins all hold spots on her cannot-get-enough list. She once followed Thirty Seconds to Mars around the United States and Canada and saw them perform fourteen times that year. Obsession sometimes leads to ideas for her kneeling angel to turn into stories.
Although an introvert in person, she’s extroverted online and has met many wonderful friends there, sometimes with the added fun of meeting them in person at gay romance conferences. She’s grateful for all the people in her life who accept her as she is and support her through her ups and downs as mom, wife, and joyfully obsessed writer.
